Remember kids, Pinkertons used to beat up workers standing up to corporate oppresion. These days they just break into people's houses to steal Magic cards.
Another backwards chronology. Who they are now, the story told for the first good chuck of 12 minutes, seems completely counterpoint to the Pinkertons we have in our heads. Why not start with their origins and then show how they morphed. I have no idea just what they do in that first 5 minutes or so (they come into disaster zones and do what?? ) Not even gonna finish.
@@mrags99 which is why i wanted to watch a historical documentary on it. I just like history shows to be chronological. I'm not very far into the video yet but it already feels like a PR piece intended to distance themselves from their history as strikebreakers and enemies of the common man. I think the beginning is intentionally boring and filled with praise... I think they are "hypnotizing chickens".
I’m a quarter left on the vid and my interpretation is this. Alan Pinkerton was a man who built barrels, and he went to an island to get more wood. Then on the island he learned ppl were counterfeiting money. He created his own detective agency and his agency was then involved in situations ranging from Identifying counterfeiting piracy, providing security, providing law enforcement, solving kidnaps, etc. They also helped build CIA today, and 1 of the first companies to instill fingerprint methods of checking employee backgrounds. Oh they also spied on people to see if they were lying. Also I believe they started the video the way they did because they wanted to hype up Pinkerton. Today they don’t seem so prestigious and I read someone’s comment saying they’ve been bought from Securitas. Nevertheless I got a job interview with them in a few hours so I watched this video to familiarize myself.
@@detriotman Alan Pinkerton had a son, and a grandson named Alan Pinkerton II. They kept the company going, until they sold it. It still exists in some form or fashion, but they are absorbed into Securitas. Interesting to think he existed only 2 generations ago.
You can say that again, it was nothing but state sponsored propaganda, much like Hollywood. The problem was if you couldnt afford cable which gave a glimmer of truth, you only got 3 channels that told you everything you knew about the world. This was long before independant documentaries and third party journalists gave a true observation of worldly events. So the governments ran rough shod on information, and you actually had open history books to read the truth for yourself.

Kind of sounds like you don't know anything about the Pinkerton's history other than what you learned in a video game (which is actually not factual)
