I think the craziest thing in DRX's run is that they looked so untiltable. They had one of the strongest mentals I've ever seen. Like the number of dragons and barons that they lost and still won is crazy.
Craziest thing is that they won while being so fuckin bad at smiting... Unfortunately... Aatrox.

tbf that was true for the first game, where Zeus had Yone. Rest of the series, Yone was banned, giving Aatrox more value. Also Fiora counterpick didn't work in game 4, and for some reason Zeus doesn't rate Camille against Aatrox I guess?

This just show you how much strong mental and being clutch in hardest moments are important,when you can play your best under most pressure you deserve win the most,great stuff from DRX.
Oner's int at that last elder was I think exhaustion more than weak mental. He did so much.

@@Velereonics its not an int, pretty sure it was shot calling from T1. T1 wanted Oner to sacrifice his life and try to steal elder while they double tp to end . Perhaps they mistimed DRX TP ( along with elder defend from AAtrox) otherwise T1 could've ended.

At first I was mad at Pyosik for being terrible this series
But then I remembered his Dragon plays for Quarters AND Semis. The man sold his soul in exchange for Dragon souls and had nothing left to barter for finals
He also didn't waste his hec ult in the last Elder fight. That Hecarim fear saved the fight. It gave them enough time to get Oner's GA.
His smites were terrible his gameplay certainly wasnt. He bounced back from a huge setback in the heca game, carried the maokai game and played solid in game 2 too

Also it has to be added that varus objective dmg is insane. The one baron steal it barely was smitable and the drake steal was not in range

I was just watching the Yamato VOD, and I love how you guys were so on edge in Game 5 and praying for DRX to peel off baron. Turns out that Pyosik can win smites when the opposing jungler is in his GA. What an insane series. I'm so happy that Deft is finally a world champion.
Nah I reviewed the Elder Dragon fight and Guma channeled his arrow early instead poked at Beryl/Deft. I was legit freaking out Guma steals it again
Everyone was praying DRX peeled off baron. I was watching it in a cinema, and nearly everyone (most people were cheering for DRX) was saying "DON'T GO FOR BARON" and my friend and I were joking, like the tense as fuck jokes you make when your heart is nearly coming through your chest, that if Oner or Guma are anywhere on the Northern hemisphere that DRX should not do Baron.

oner was never the problem, the problem was guma and his arrow, thats why they got the elder. guma was to far away to steal it, i have no idea what guma was thinking he was the jungler and needed to be there to get that elder

Without a doubt, the best Worlds Tournament yet. The storylines, close calls, smite steals, all of these and more will combine to form everlasting desires for the next generation of players. The Last Dance was a beautiful one.
DRX legit took the Worlds song and became literally the embodiment of it. “Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathin” and they did just that. Game 5 baron stolen and backs against the wall, they claw their way back to a victory. Absolutely well deserved win for DRX.

“In order to win, someone else has to lose.” Being in such tough matches and struggling to survive in the most intense moments makes it a great game. Congrats to DRX but Oner and Keria did great. I hope they stay on T1 or continue because I can definitely see them doing great in the future!
I mean Guma also played well. Faker ... I mean he did nothing wrong, or right, for the most part of the series Faker did nothing, he just existed in the game while stuff happened to him

Gonna be honest, I went to bed at 4 after the 2-1. I lost faith, and didnt want to be there when T1 won. I should've stayed for the rest of the series! Jiizuke's laughter; Dom's heart attacks; and DRX's win would've made it worth it!
real me too. i woke up and was like "ugh. i guess i'll watch drx lose" and was SO HYPE after those last two games.
i fell to sleep by accident after game 3, but woke up by accident for game 5, what luck.
I left a theatre at 2-1 and I'll regret it. On the other hand, butterfly effect making this series in any way different wouldn't be worth it.

This is probably the best sports thing I have ever watched. The story line, the players, the games. It was actually insane.

For me this wasn't the best worlds of all time, but for sure the best finals, by a landslide. The atmosphere at my live cinema viewing party was fucking electric. The gameplay was both sloppy and super high level at the right moments, with players showing absolute masterclasses on their champs but with the random Camille E into nothing and wrong backwards Graves R during those peak games too, it was amazing.
agree, tho the series between geng and dk was my fav of all time. It was so fkin high skilled and close. Really loved that
@@chimpychompy3028 Games 3 and 4 where bad in my opinion. GenG lost a bit early game and then did noting for 20+ min and lost. SKT vs DRX at least had bouth teams trying to win every game.

this was the most incredible, entertaining live event of any kind that i've ever had the privilege of seeing in person. it was making me LOL so hard watching dom's reactions to the dragon and baron steals because i was screaming the exact same way. hats off to the incredible, incredible mental of DRX, the ENORMOUS balls on beryl, and kingen's absolute gigachad carry pants performance. will remember this one forever.

@@billyjoe8185 insane. completely insane. i'd say "college football" loud, but maybe not SEC level (in fairness, those stadiums hold 100k or more, and Chase Center holds like 18k)-- Chase Center is Golden State Warriors stadium, and the place was completely, completely packed. and i went to a Warriors playoff game a few years back, and Finals was definitely crazier than that. prob slightly more T1 fans, but the DRX fans were definitely louder (or maybe i'm just biased from my own screaming at every fail smite and every "WTF how did they just take a fight vs an elder and baroned team and win the game" moment haha).

So, here i am in my house during a storm at, rewatching the finals in the best format there is (love you Dom) after a long day and some weed , and i was literally watching the game (with Jiizuk.E & Yamato) cause it made me stop to write this the sheer "let down" on the on perfectly executed setup of a 100% , "IT'S JUST FREE RIGHT?" easy smite-please don't screw it, at 24:46.
Also big as all this blast that i just had, is if I got invested emotionally this much is because the "narration" of Dom's content (by production team) is on point. This content is gold, perfectly rewatchable certificated. Great job Craklord

Absolutely insane series. You could feel the pressure in the last 2 games with both teams doing their best to not fuck up. I haven't watched a finals series in like 4 years now and I am so glad I tuned in for this banger of a matchup. LCK playing league of legends to near perfection

Come on man, give him some respect. He was really solid and pulled a load of draft resources that could have been used on removing Aatrox otherwise. Wholesome too.
Several of those steals were not even his fault. Varus arrow deals more than smite early game, and kalista is the one having to secured the nashors.
And he played SUPER solid. I dont get the narrative that he was supposedly carried by his teammates, he was a huge part of their success.

I was away from league both playing and watching for about 3 years. Glad I decided to watch this one series
No matter how "bad" the quality of the gameplay is, we all still fucking enjoy and appreciate a nailbiter series and for that this might just be the best worlds finals so far.
slight unrelated but there's just something about drx and their mental. their valorant team won many comebacks back at valorant champions like we are talking about being down 0-8 or 4-12 or 3-9 and winning ots that lead went until 19-17. their val team also broke the curse narrative of them only placing 5th-6th on intl events. drx lol also proved that they have a strong mental with all those baron steals and their reverse sweep back at quarters. deft also had his curse that he broke. this is random but im just happy to point it out

its so impressive how DRX had 3 barons stolen in this series and they still remained calm and didnt tilt, even though their jungler was choking really hard. so many teams would tilt off the face of the earth after the first nashor steal, so just imagine what it feels like after your jungler botches his third nash and does in in game 5
Pyosik is getting remembered for his smites but he honestly just played really well in every other scenario besides that and considering the mental tax of that series he deserves credit
@@pyeondal.1095 yes i included him when i said DRX. i can think of a lot of teams that get giga tilted after that game 3 where he fucks up 2 barons, and he himself didnt get tilted and DRX also didnt stop going for objectives and kept trusting him, which is rare to see
I don't think choking is the right thing to say, but he obviously was struggling to take objectives, but he played well in the whole series. If it was a legit choke we probably wouldn't be seeing DRX lifting the trophy, that's for sure.
@@nulliningly he was choking. smiting a neutral objective with enemies nearby are the highest pressure situations you are in as a jungler, and he failed those pretty much the entire series. the other option is that pyosik is just that bad at smiting, which i refuse to believe. he was just crumbling under the pressure. it happens, but lets not sugar coat it and try to say it was sometuing else when he was very clearly crumbling under the pressure
@@joaobrito2653 He lost the first dragon of the series to Varus in the first game. I think even Oner wasn't nearby, he just lost it to Varus, more or less like it was in the game 5 with Varus stealing Baron without vision.
It looks more like Pyosik and his team didn't knew how to not allow Varus steal the objectives. It's like you are playing against a jungle that doesn't have to take risk to steal your objectives, he has a comfortable range to do it.
If he actually crumbled under pressure, he would probably get outclassed by Oner in the last two games (considering the game 3 was lost because of him), which didn't happened and he also played well with Maokai in game 4 and Heca game 5.
A player choking generally means that he will play much less than he usually does. Example: Chovy against DRX.
DRX jg didnt deserve that skin he about to get. IDC how good he played leading up that series.

While this wasn't the highest League of Legends quality we've ever seen in a worlds final, this series was extremely entretaining to watch, and also super emotional with the best storylines of any other worlds. Great stuff.

it's insane how 0:50 is a comment that aged poorly in retrospect, because WHO in their right mind comes into this series expecting kingen on aatrox to solo kill zeus and go on to save the entire series at their nexus 2v1. really goes to show just how insane it is that things came together and players like zeka and kingen who in the past, were not known to be reliable pop off players, had the games of their lives
