    The phonetic symbols for patients and patience are different, but some people say patience should be pronounced like ending with “ts”, instead of “s”, could you please help identify which one is the correct pronunciation? Similar situations like how to pronounce “science”, etc. I’m a bit confused…

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question.
      NCE may sound like TS because the N and T are made in the same place. This is called co-articulation when on sound influences another.
      So, both S and TS are correct. These are variations.

    Hello. I ask you some information about grammar. The number of tourists.... ( is .are ) rising ...which right verb to be is or are
    Another example..the numbers of tourists... (is or are) rising. Which right is or are ..
    The numbers of tourist ( is or are) which right is or are ... thankful for you

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NUMBER of tourists IS rising
      The NUMBERS of tourists ARE rising.
      Think of the NOUN (not prepositional phrase) when deciding on subject verb agreement. My trick is to remove the prepositional phrase.
      The NUMBER IS rising
      The NUMBERS ARE rising.
