I immediately thought, do some Dolly Parton. Jolene, I will always love you.
Hey Man I love your videos. They help me as a 17 year old German who’s currently in the US and a Jazz piano enthusiast a lot! Your way of explaining the chords and what inversions you choose is really helpful.
I would love to see a video about Porgy (I loves you). I adore the Bill Evans arrangement
Great quote
That intro was almost as good as Fred Hersch version. My second fave version now ❤
A pleasure as always, Thanks Tony
Have always loved Chick's version of the tune. Thank you for posting.
so generous and brilliant and moving... thanks a lot for your work and videos ! Brest regards from France
Just realized a couple of weeks ago that Rogers totally quotes the melody from Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude on the “One love to be living for” line.
Very nice - i love the Chick version. Lindsey Buckingham also recorded a great guitar version on his album “Out of the Cradle”. Thanks.
Good book I want this book in danish- greeting here from Aalborg Denmark good easter Tony and thank you for tutorial that you are very good at and of course genious pianoplayer and muscian
Simply gorgeous!
Absolutely love this song
very timely quote thanks!!!! Michener is a very talented author indeed. Gread vid too btw
Brillaint. Love your channel
Tony, now that you've shared with us your admiration of James Michener, who lived in Bucks County PA- my home state, we have even more than just jazz piano in common. What a great paragraph- it rings so true today (over 30 years later) and I fear that the US society leaves many behind. Those in power do not want to admit that too much wealth is in too few hands, and fuels the social unrest/ injustices. That a song from Rodgers and Hart's SOUTH PACIFIC could be so arranged that we love the song even more is SO COOL! Thanks for posting and I look forward to your rendition
I know Bucks County a bit. I was born in nearby Lancaster and I have a painting by Baum, a Pennsylvania impressionist.
Thank you, Maestro 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thank you, Tony! This was really beautiful.. Since you are asking for suggestions I am wondering if you could do something about how to end tunes... I play regularly in a venue and I finish all the tunes with arpeggiated chords going up or down which is starting to make me feel sick bored and frustrated. I don't know if the way would be to learn some formulas, or to learn endings of other improvisers in those tunes.. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you so much for your videos, BIG FAN!
Great song ❤
Hi Tony. Thanks for the song and for that paragraph in the book. Very relevant today. Wondering if you have seen Dave Grusin’s performance of “It might be you”. Great example of a master at work. Would love for you to breakdown that tune. Thanks again.
Hi Tony, thank you for that lovely tutorial. You previously did a tutorial on In A Sentimental Mood, but some of the progressions are not clear. I would greatly appreciate if you could revisit this beautiful song some time. Many thanks.
What is the name of the music book you are referring to, not clear in video/scan! Always enjoy your work! Thanks!
