      Dude should have a personal mechanic to check the car out before he buys it. Sometimes you gotta play it safe rather than just go with the flow and get real expert to check if your car is healthy in the first place. Someone abused their car lol

    Bro no hate at all but you literally just bought a car that was previously abused. And I have no clue why your calling it underpowered when you could have gotten a IS350 (which can do 4.9 0-60 from factory) for like 5k more. Literally nobody I know with a 250 or any Toyota/Lexus product has had any of the issues your having except for one friend who had a camry that SLIGHTLY burned oil, which was fixed after replacing piston rings. You just had bad luck, there is not a more reliable car maker than Toyota/Lexus

    so sorry to hear that, I own 250 aswell, bought it really cheap, it was burning oil, I took care of it,flushed the engine many times,changed oil every 3k miles and it came back to life, no more burning oil problem. everything depends on prevoius owners, your car was abused and what I think it was flooded because of electric problems. the next problem is with mechanics in USA,everything is so expensive to repair. wish You all the best greeting sfrom Poland

      Thanks. This car is underpowered, gets horrible gas mileage and if you use the paddle shifters, the shifts aren't good. Takes too long to shift, especially at lower speeds. Makes you wish you paid more and just bought an IS-F.

    • @mariosierra3978
      @mariosierra3978 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@ThatDudeMrRoyalty It's not underpowered. It's a 200 hp car, you could have chosen the IS350, which has more than 300. It's fast enough less than 8 seconds from 0-60 and It doesn't have a bad gas mileage for its engine and weight. You only had bad luck bro, but It's a really nice car (I had one for 12 years).

      @@paulzamora4864 hey bro, i have a 06 is350. I got mine w 190k and i knew it had a bad engine. I replaced it w a 2008 junkyard motor and it runs fine. These cars run a long time if you maintain them properly. But like any other car, stuff breaks, its just the way it goes. I do all my work myself to save some cash. And you have to put premium in the is250 too btw. But that code, pretty much means the transmission needs work. Maybe its a bad transmission or maybe just a bad solonoid. My trans is acting kinda funny in my car, but i resealed the pan and i changed the fluid and its still running 20k later. I hope you find a car that gives you no troubles.

    It’s called maintenance. Had the previous owner maintained the car even in the slightest you wouldn’t have had ANY issues. I daily drove a 1999 Range Rover, also known as the most unreliable Range Rover electrically. And mine was perfect. The previous owner had meticulously maintained it.

  • @gwgrote5

    Sorry to hear all the sh#t you have gone through over this car. I purchased a used 2010 IS 250 AWD with 102K miles. According to the records with the 1 owner before me, nothing needed to be done, other than regular oil changes and he had it detailed often. Now, I am the one who is starting to need to fix things. 100K seems to be the mark, as it was with my former Volvo. I just paid for the water pump, tensioner arm, pulleys, belt. It was expensive. I have a great mechanic but he charges $140/hr labor versus Lexus charging close to $200/hr. I hit a pothole in Boston and basically destroyed the part of my exhaust (where the dual cats merge to go up to the front) and had to replace the entire system...$3,900. I just had the brake rotors and pads done and next month rear calipers. Still, minus the early exhaust work, everything is general maintenance. The tire pressure monitoring systems are good for 10 yrs. That was the very first thing I addressed. I went for the steel/metal ones because the rubber ones did not work. I think what matters the most when people buy cars is the number of previous owners. My previous owner bought it new, and kept it garaged. I do not have a garage unfortunately.
    I don't think you'll have any better luck with BMW. I have friends who have purchased new ones and both of them are leaking oil in each of their garages. There is no excuse for that!
    P.S. sorry came back to mention some things. The IS250 problems are carbon build up due to the DI. Also some years the IS had melting dashboards and interior door panels. The melting was covered under warranty but I have not suffered that, so don't know any details. I just now watched a red Lexus IS 250 and when the kid showed the inside, we can see the dash/door panel damage that went unfixed and the car is for sale and has 189K miles on it. I'm guessing it still has its original exhaust which I had to replace mine and my car is newer.

    All these things have nothing to do with a lexus. It's all accidents that have nothing to do with the car. Those accidents could have damaged something in the front end. And all the maintenance stuff is just normal wear. You have a car that's over 10 years old and its gonna need work especially if the previous owner abused it. They are one of the most reliable cars. And a bmw or Mercedes is 100 times worse😂 and you want to talk about a lexus being expensive to fix? You never had to fix a bmw or Mercedes then lol.

    Dude that’s just a weird case. The other Lexus was probably the o2 sensors, I’ve seen that on Honda’s and Chevys. To be fair a German car could have the same issues and even worst a blown engine and trans. My friend blew up the engine in his 335i before a month of owning it, it would cost you a whole drivetrain instead of $20 sensors. But hey the car is scary either way I would get ride of it, scary.

    Half this stuff is just normal for cars 😂. You bought a used car what did you expect. Lexus is extremely reliable with stock forged internals. There’s no car that you can just get in and drive forever. But the shift lock is common you can fix that but you need a new part. Gotta know your seller and how they treat it
