This us Sufi music and I have noticed that male singers sing in female gender (and vice versa) to a lover in opposite sex (but the double meaning is that the lover is God). So they are in love with God, spiritually and romantically.

Sir, greetings from Pakistan. This genre of music is "Qawwali". Sir, yourself are absolutely spot-on by identifying that appears to be one of the poems from the past. This particular one is written by the legendary sufi poet of the 13th Century "Amir Khusro". He was inspired by his spiritual teacher "Nizaam-ud-Din Auliya. Majority of his poetry is about Nizaam-ud-din auliya due to his extreme level of spiritual connection with him. This poetry can also be interpreted in several ways. It expresses sufi philosophy, using imagery of the worldly love for a beloved as a means of representing love for God the Almighty. The poet writes that he just heard his beloved is coming to him and he is ready to lay down his life in wait for the arrival as he feels this dying man might be given new life with the anticipated union. We can not overlook the brilliance of the performance of this coke studio version as the beautful words of the poetry takes the song to its climax towards the end. And those focused reactions and comments by your self were the icing on the cake. Brilliant reactions to this song were too good. Just reflects the concentration levels and understanding capacity of your self. The great thing about coke studio songs is that one will get to witness all types of topics, genres and messages emanating out of them. Its a learning curve indeed. It cannot get better than this. Great songs and great reactions places this channel, in my opinion, at the top of the reaction channels of the world. Great interpretation indeed by yourself. Sir, i can only pray that God the Almighty may always be with you and grant you all of His blessings at all times. At the same i wish that this channel reaches unprecedented heights in the not too distant future. I am loving this journey of coke studio reactions on this channel. With warm personal regards

This ancient poem is about union with the Beloved, and the yearning which is characteristic of separation from the Divine - all the allegories and poetic references (news has reached, the deer of the desert, the jealousy) all are instruments to convey the yearning and separation of a mystic from his Beloved.

I also really dont know its exact meaning and intended interpretation and interpret as see it fit for me. I know I love the feel of these Qawalis a genre invented by poet of this song and mastered by many specially Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan knows King og Kings of this genre, a Pakistanis legend. I also know these poems can have multiple meanings and at they can not be only about love of man or woman or God but also for someone you love generally like teacher, friend and family etc.
