  • This film was produced in 1945 by Pan American Airways at the conclusion of World War II to highlight the company's contribution to the war effort.
To learn more, visit the Pan Am Museum's Pan Am at War exhibit within the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, New York.
Also, read the excellent book "Pan Am at War: How the Airline Secretly Helped America Fight World" by Mark Cotta Vas and John H. Hill.
From its inception, Pan American Airways operated as the "wings of democracy", spanning six continents and placing the country at the leading edge of international aviation. At the same time, it was clandestinely helping to fight America's wars.
Utilizing government documents, declassified Freedom of Information Act material, and company documents, the authors have uncovered stories of Pan Am's stunning role as an instrument of American might. They detail the airline's role in building air bases in Latin America and countering Axis interests that threatened the Panama Canal; the dangerous 17,000-mile journey that took President Roosevelt to the high-stakes Casablanca Conference with Winston Churchill; the daring flight that delivered uranium for the atomic bomb; and more.

My Dad worked for Pan Am for 41 years. At the start of the was, he joined the Navy. Because he was a mechanic for Pan AM, they gave him an Honorable Discharge from the Navy and he served his time in the Air Transport Command

On one hand having pathetic visual quality of such an interesting film is better than nothing. But I'd like to think that the actual film is somewhere out there and the museum foundation might try to start sourcing them, restoring them and digitizing them including the old advertisements. Many thanks!
