This was just the best game/commentary . . . McDarby, Phillips, and Sullivan! V for Vendetta in the background seems to have been gimping on workouts though 14:32
Very few people will recognize the tremendous skill when david flips his dice at 09:00 without even seeing the opposite side where the 1 is. He just saw the 6 on his side.
+Anthony Valenti Jr No, he had one in graveyard and another in hand. During the cabal therapy he moved the graveyard pile further away from the revealed hand to not confuse the 2 wastelands next to each other. Happens around the 1 minute mark
I don't understand the Aegis in the D&T build. So you protect yourself with Hexproof but what Legacy deck is really hitting you hard where a 4 of a narrow card is necessary? Certainly not Elves, Goblins, Mircales, or CounterTop (at that time). This should have been a dedicated 4 of hate card or maybe 2 Aegis in the side. The fact that he didn't side them out game 2 was also a bad move.
I used to run this video into Brian’s face when he went to the same LGS as me back around the time this event happened. Turns out he kinda just sucked at Magic.
Jayden Davison thats not why, he searched because mindcensor only has the effect for opponents, you can still search your Library as normal if you control the mindcensor
Illegal play by McDarby near the end at around the 47:00 min mark. He casts veteran explorer and then sacrificies it to cabal therapy to flash it back. He names a card and Embry reveals his swords and whatever McDarby names misses. He then uses veteran explorers search effect but its too late. The veteran explorer trigger happened when he flashed back cabal therapy which means the explorer trigger should resolve first. Its too late to get the lands.
Yeah, rules lawyer-y though. In the Spirit of the Rules, they were fine, they didn't do anything cheaty, the resolved the thing on their mind. He probably said something like "Flashback Cabal therapy naming ", the opponent blows right through the trigger, and then resolves the effect AND REMINDS his opponent that he can search too. As long as he acknowledged the trigger out loud, it seem perfectly fine.
Can't believe that anyone, especially a seasoned commentator, can misunderstand an effect as simple as the helm. Mill X or Mill until you find a creature. If you mill a creature, stop milling, put it into play, bury helm. If you mill X and there is no creature among the cards, nothing happens. The whole "if a creature was put into a graveyard" clause is to make sure that you still get the secondary effect even if you mill for X and the last card is a creature (which would otherwise fulfil both conditions "Mill X or Mill until you find a creature").
I wrote an entire paragraph trying to dissect a simple effect as to make it even more obvious. The whole "effect" is 3 lines long and is from my 2nd sentence up to the end of the 4th - even with the added ForDummies text. The last sentence was meant to further accentuate my infuriation with the comments given, as they touched upon this point and only used the added text on the card as to further confuse the watcher.
It's not really confusing at all. The reason they had so much trouble with the card was because it is almost never used to mill. It is used to auto-win in combination with Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace which exile the cards causing them to mill their whole deck.
J Bennett see the part where he moved his Port. As someone who plays D&T he probably said "on your upkeep", Mcdarby untaps. He blows the deed and then draws a card. Unless you're being funny, in which case I can't help but notice they are not respecting mana burn rules. So definite cheating.
achievement unlocked: make your opponent scoop without dealing a point of damage with your non-combo deck.
I just like that the judge is enjoying watching this silly game.
Yea, she never stops smiling :D
she was feelin my man mcdarby 😂
This was just the best game/commentary . . . McDarby, Phillips, and Sullivan!

Bro behind Brian at 20:39 went for the old scratch and dip lol
yea i was trying to see if it was a whitechapel shirt and was greeted with the 5 on 2 method lol

-It was delicious!
-Yeah!
-And nutricious!!
-Well...
And those 5 basic lands are worth more than the entire Death and taxes players deck! lol
Isn’t the D+T deck full of gurus too?
Stumbled over this again, love Davids deck. But Cedric and Patrick are the real highlights. 😀
david mcdarby is m favorite player to watch he always plays awesome decks lol
commentators make videos good. GJ!
That chick is super excited to be apart of this game, lol.
Permadrunkk smiling the entire tournament probably..
can we get mcdarby back on scg vs
In the first game did Brian put the wasteland back into his hand during the cabal therapy
+Anthony Valenti Jr No, he had one in graveyard and another in hand. During the cabal therapy he moved the graveyard pile further away from the revealed hand to not confuse the 2 wastelands next to each other. Happens around the 1 minute mark
That's a combo, with a C

Jon P the aegis is quite good against mcdarby. Hymn, therapy, karn, jace, liliana
A bit late but aegis of the god is really good against ANT, TES, belcher, and a bunch of combo decks
won't swords exile veteran explorer ???
I would love to play legacy!
I love David
How does Darby even win? With Strixes and Veterans?
+Joren K. Mindsculptor ultimates also I believe
Karn resets on ult, as well as mindsculptor ending on ult as well. Its essentially a super value end game deck
#bringbacklegacycoverage
The way Aegis of the Gods holds his sword really bothers me.
lol I beat brain with infect at the NJ Grand Prix and got so salty 😂😂😂
I used to run this video into Brian’s face when he went to the same LGS as me back around the time this event happened. Turns out he kinda just sucked at Magic.
How did he search for jitte game one when he had mind sensor
Aven Mindcensor reads if an *opponent* would search a library they search the top four instead . Thats why.
Jayden Davison thats not why, he searched because mindcensor only has the effect for opponents, you can still search your Library as normal if you control the mindcensor
Javaris Jamar Javarison-Lamar That's exactly what he said
2 islands 3 swamps a forest=lots of basics. ah legacy...
Well my commander deck only played ten basics....
That doesn't mean that legacy isn't still kinda silly with the excessive amounts of non-basics
Modern decks often have like 4 or less basics.
yeah
i just play big daddy bolas and all i need is my four swamps, islands or 2 mountians
HE PUT THE WASTELAND BACK IN HIS HAND!!!
I can't believe that nobody caught that...
Me neither...
What time did he put the wasteland back in his hand?
Rowena Ybarra 1:45
No, he moves it off screen at 1:09. This not being a Commander Versus video, McDarby's opponent is permitted duplicates of certain cards. :)

Rich P You pick which happens in which order you want. Cabal was on the stack last.
Generalizedfeelings not in this case, since the veteran triggered after you cast cabal, so it is on top of the stack, you can't change that.

Its confusing due to the old text

wow
Quit playing with the mic, or the connection of it was wonky. The sounds of the mic popping was too much
Wtf kinda deck is mcdarby using. Ridiculous.
Good old superfriends, the best
At 6:34 McDarby untaps his lands so he can blow up Pernicious Deed on Brians turn. Definite cheating.
J Bennett see the part where he moved his Port. As someone who plays D&T he probably said "on your upkeep", Mcdarby untaps. He blows the deed and then draws a card.

MatthewBeau i know its a year old comment but just in case. Manaburn isnt a thing anymore
That was on darbys upkeep, blowing up deed to port activation
