Hybrid set ups are great and will support weight, but racks are definitely more stable due to the the thickness of the tubes. It all depends on what look, and function you need.
Hello Brent, your videos are great, they have helped me pick what I just need for my set. I just wanted to ask you to talk a little bit more about how percussionist in general could take advantage of these racks you have. Thanks for the information and have a great one
@GibralstarDIY Hybrid Setup #1 is the ideal set up that I was thinking for my Pearl Masters BCX 8 Piece kit (3 up, 2 down, single kick and 2 snares). I have two Pearl Multi-Boom Cymbal Stands and 3 rack toms mounted to them. The issue I have is adjusting my 3 toms to be in the same height and leveled with each other. Most of the issues I run into are having the drums fall on top of me while setting up and having my fingers clamped, pinched and crushed between the drums and hardware. Looking at drum racks that cost over $200 to $600 are a pain to buy them cheaper in the used market. I been considering of getting one so far. The Hybrid set up #1 would definitely be my go to choice for my kit because the drums would be easily adjust to the same height and be leveled as I wanted it too. I like to have a big clean set up. What's also great is I don't have to pay as much for getting pro rack set up. everything in total for me would be under $200. Really the best alternate route for having a drum rack at home.
Hey Brent, could you give me a product number for the rack bar? The GPRSSS seems to be a bit longer and go past each cymbal stand as opposed to lining flush with the cymbal stands. Hope this makes since thanks.
Yo Brent, in set up 3 with the No leg HH stand, what bar are you using to connect to the rack & what clamps are you using? I use the all black not chrome clamps so hook me up with style numbers if you would.
Jason Gelles that was only referring to the GPR series clamps that were made over years ago. All the Road Series and Chrome Series clamps will will fit on any curved or straight bar we have
Anyone...feedback?...Will Gibraltar clamps work with DW hardware....EX: rack tom stems and the mid or upper sections of the DW 9000 Series Cymbal stands?
Hello Roy, thanks for the question. Yes Gibraltar is compatible with DW. Most brands share the same tube diameters for tom mounts and cymbal stands. There is an industry spec for most hardware.
Just out of curiosity as I do have a 7 piece set up. Can the hybrid rack set hold 3 toms? 8/10/12? or is that too much weight? I've also heard things about it bending the cymbal stands..? Im considering either a rack or a hybrid rack.. Brent? Or anyone care to shed light on this?
GibraltarDIY Well what would be mounted would be either 2 toms 2 crashes and a splash, or 3 toms, 2 crashes and a splash. Also am I able to get the product names?
MarlosBurgerDrums I have 4 cymbals ...hihats, small China, 2 large China's and an 18" Crash mounted to a 24" rack bar which is mounted to a single braced Tama stand with a regular multi clamp. 2 years, no problems. No issues whatsoever.
wow..i need to pay closer attention. that happend like 4 and a half years ago...eesh. now gretsch and slingerland are under the same roof. i hope they dont do away with gretsch like they did slingerland thow..
Combining racks and stands... That's dangerous thinking... I like it
You've sold me! Ordering now (First setup). Thanks!
that last hybrid is perfect for what I need, thanks!

a rand?
a strandack? heh..
cool ideas though...never considered any of these.
What equipment do you need to attach the Tom's? The was kind of glanced over.
Please keep going with more variations. I need variation upon variation upon variation...
You should do this if you had to bass drums
For the curved bar you have to have special clamps I think I read???
Jason Gelles that was only referring to the GPR series clamps that were made over years ago. All the Road Series and Chrome Series clamps will will fit on any curved or straight bar we have
2:09 No, everybody loves the look of Iraq.
Lol
CHECK
How did you get the cymbals between the toms do I need to purchase just one other clamp?
Daniel Alcala I used the SC-GCRMC multi clamp to attach the boom arm to the bar.

Hey Brent Could i use a PDP 800 cymbal stand to make a rack setup 1
Not a bad idea. 🤔
Thanks brutha!
Seems like a Gretsch kit, that's what they seem to use in all the videos
what drum kit is that?

MarlosBurgerDrums you will want to try to balance you're gear. It all depends on how you play, etc. 👍

What size length is the front bar ?
Phil Dixon depending on the amount of toms you have, you can use a 40” or 46” curved bar.
gretsch and gibraltar are owned by the same parent company, kaman. so it only makes sense for them to use what they have at hand.
Cual es su valor de la vateria
