- Thew new Power Couples mechanic to celebrate Valentine's Day has resulted in some crazy buffs to a handful of card pairs, and since so many of them are 3-cost cards, it has made Silver Surfer decks like this one notably stronger.

Power Estimate: This deck felt very strong to me, landing at a 71% win rate. Having solid cards get such significant buffs thanks to the Power Couples mechanic pushed this to another level, and I suspect some kind of Silver Surfer package using some of these cards will be a meta force.

It seems that they are beginning to experiment with the concept of archetypes...
Been waiting some type of addition like this since I thought playing all avengers member could gave a good synergy back then😅
Imagine an event like "X-Men: +1 Power."
Honestly really excited if they are testing archetypes with this. I think it brings in much more balancing flexibility in card games and can allow for more creative mechanics to not break the game
@@RegisKillbinIt could be really nice for exclusive ongoings! "Reduce the costs of X-Men cards in your hand by 1 cost" is just an example, but that could be fleshed out to make some unique decks pop up
They are getting ready to hone in the design space and creativity so dev cycles and costs can be minimized more like. Locking decks in like this makes the game SO much easier to balance if everyone gets to fall under a general archetype and is included in atleast something
The most surprising part of this video was seeing Regis using an avatar.

Dude this freaking avatar. It won't go away! I set the favorite to my regular one every time and this one just keeps showing up every time I make a deck. I'm losing it.

Regis vs Blade avatar is my favorite subplot in the Regis Cinematic Universe.
Make sure you unfavorite the blade one if you can. Making a new deck it randomly picks a random favorite. @@RegisKillbin
I noticed the Boy-Thing Blade avatar again after he mentioned it in a previous video. I thought he was just resigned to his fate, but it appears it is still an ongoing battle lol.
If I recall with Angel's change, he now flies out of hand as well, which would mean you never want to play him if you plan to destroy a card. I know it's a recent enough change that it's easy to forget about that being a thing, now.

One problem is that they only boost each other by 1, instead of the 2 each that the couples here have.
@@RickReasonnz I used Angela-Sera instead of Goose-KM, and the deck became 100 times more better. The deck needs some skilful plays, but it got much better consistency now.

You should thank the heavens that +2 power on Brood would have probably gone a bit too long a way for Snap to safely acknowledge their relationship with Miek, or you would have had to subject yourself to more of the cursed card :p Other than having to think about how it'd work.

Jumping in to the comments to say, you have to “unfavorite” that blade avatar in order for it to stop showing up. You can have multiple favorites and when you go to build a deck it randomly selects from your favorites what avatar, card back, and title to use.

Hey Rege! Love you content. Made a similar deck but took out some of the usual suspects for Surfer and added more useful couples. Nakia/Panther and Angela/Sera. Both still work with Surfer decks, but ended up giving more power than Brood, Jugs, Goose and Monger. Otherwise our decks are the same. I’m 100% out of 15 games so far.

Luckily they didn't put Wolverine with Hercules like in the comics, people would probably have been upset if they saw that 😂
I really really like the idea of power couples
I am a big fan of making two cards that don't synergize mechanically get a buff when played together, kinda opening a new sub synergy
There are a few power couples I wish they'd added. Cyclops+Jean Grey, Black Bolt+Medusa, Luke Cage+Jessica Jones, Colossus+Kitty Pryde and of course Thor and Jane
I used this power couple cards with Agatha attach to it and it's pretty good ngl
Could have kept Angel in your hand for an extra 2 power against the bounce deck.

Been looking for a non combo deck that isn't full of cards that I don't have, and this is perfect! ily regis. also this power couple mechanic is super fun! definitely steals games but I don't think it's OP or anything

When I first started I tried making decks like this not knowing if there was hidden effects. Like the G.o.t.g. cards in a deck. And such. No extra effects then lol

Honestly they should keep this in the game, even though these cards barely synergize with eachother. It adds a little bit of flair to the cards.

Honestly I really wish they’d keep this honestly (honestly 😂) 😅😂 makes making decks so much more fun, and makes synergy actually work. Plus it makes cards like Cap actually usable 😂

I played a full power couple deck and I'm 5W -1L it's so much fun especially the unexpected buffs

Looks like Rogue was buffed in the last game, it was just a visual bug that the buff didn't show in hand.

An interesting interaction with Rogue that I just experienced was that when she stole Captain America's Ongoing effect, she also stole his Power Couples effect. I ended up losing because she no longer benefitted from my Gambit on board...

@@ThrowingRave Next event should be Love Triangles(or Rivalries). The abilties should be something that matches each of the triangles.
We already talked about Death, Thanos and Deadpool, but what about Storm, Black Panther and Nakia? Maybe some Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Cyclops action? xD
it was unrequited love, Death never felt the same way that Thanos did. Deadpool and Death on the other hand have actually been an item in the past.

Sucks they didn't have Jean Grey and Cyclops in the power couple. SD missed it. Or even a trio with Wolverine. Gets a plus 1 with Jean but if Cyclops is on the field, he gets minus 1 lol

It's weird to me that you don't have to play the couples in the same lane. I think they should change it, it's weird just being a net buff if they're anywhere on the board. Making them be played same location seems much more fair and logical.

I just played against this deck, I didn't draw alioth in all 3 games, gotta love losing because he got the best luck possible and I didn't. I couldn't draw either alioth or doctor doom. He also won the first game because of weird world the best location what are you playing, not anymore.
