Thank you for your prayers, Evangelist Sarah! God knows they are needed! And God will answer those prayers. He can restore the joy and peace the narcissist's victim has lost, but it's a costly healing. The person has to "give up" relationships they desperately hope to hang onto.
A narcissist will suck a person dry of all joy and light and love. A narcissist will steal any joy a person has and they can crush a person's ability to trust, to love, to hope. They will do all they can to destroy any good feelings the person has for themselves. You are so right in all you said of them. I've had the misfortune to encounter more than one narcissist in my life. And you are also right that they can destroy the person they are sucking their own life from.
We have to recognize what we are dealing with and find a way of escape, or they will take even our lives with little or no regret. Narcissists are good at finding victims. If one victim escapes or dies, the narcissist will likely have a string of others hanging on the tips of his or her fingers. People desperate for loving attention are often drawn to the narcissist, I think. Narcissists always seem to know just how to make themselves very attractive or very essential to the lives of their victims. They know how to create dependence in the victim and a belief (in that poor soul's mind) that they desperately need that "something" that only the narcissist can fulfill for them. It's a terrible sickness for both the victim and the perpetrator.
Our best defense against the narcissist is to remind ourselves of what love really is: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs done to it. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1st Corinthians 13:4-8)
That and a really good prayer warrior to talk to God for you and your own prayers added to it!

I dated a Narcissist ( long distance) thankfully or he could've easily destroyed my life. God helped me by explaining to me that this man, I thought was in love with, was a Narcissist. I had to learn what a Narcissist was & to my surprise everything about him was true... everyone said the same thing about a Narcissist...they want to destroy a person. ( Doctors on TH-cam, Christian Educators all agreed).
God set me free from him but I was blind and thought he loved me. It took me 7 years to let go of him completely. He's married & his wife is a Narcissist too...what a horrible life they have. God bless you Sister for sharing this Word! It will help many come out of this bondage! ❤
