Yes i did a little marathon on idina menzel videos. I thought she is highly skilled in technical singing since she is a theatrical singer. But seriously, shes like those overrated singers in hollywood.
People saying Idina is a terrible singer are just unbelievable. She sang this after belting the songs from the first half of the show which runs for at least an hour, and did so while being suspended 20 ft in the air. The magic of Idina's voice goes beyond just technique and stylistics coz she pours her heart in every song, just like any other musical theater actor. With Tonys and multi awarded songs in her belt, years of headlining broadway shows, hit Disney movies, it's very audacious for someone to call her terrible. Lea Salonga though, I dont think she's even human. Truly a master of her craft.

I don't agree, the modern musical is often a 'popsical' which I hate, and Wicked is one of them. The problem this young lady would have is that without theatre training a voice wouldn't stand up to a theatre run, especially with irresponsible writing like this. You can hear the way she comes off notes that damage would be done to the vocal folds. Idina Menzel lost her voice for the same reason, and Lea Saonga kept hers because she took herself to a theatre vocal coach. I agree that she couldn't do a more traditional musical like Les Miserables or West Side Story though, obviously.

I've not watched The Wicked in full but as far as I know, Elphaba was tired of trying to fit in and was full of resentment when she sang it. IMO, the most technically incredible female vocalist currently in circulation. Yeah, she doesn't deviate much into the popular 'pop/RB/ genre simply to make the cash. Instead, she displays sheer talent and skill. Unreal her ability and my only hope is she takes appropriate recovery time. Her vocal talent was much improved once COIVD forced her to relax. IMO, the most technically incredible female vocalist currently in circulation. Yeah, she doesn't deviate much into the popular 'pop/RB/ genre simply to make the cash. Instead, she displays sheer talent and skill. Unreal her ability and my only hope is she takes appropriate recovery time. Her vocal talent was much improved once COIVD forced her to relax. She just works way to hard. Hopefully she can find the balance.
