Im 12. This is my review on this. At the beginning I was finding it very difficult, but I got a hang of it. Yes, there were some parts I stuffed up, but it's the fact I tried. If Im 12 and I can do it, then Im sure everyone else can 😉

I've been crocheting since I was 12. The first project I tried to make was a sweater for my cat lol That went SO well. I couldn't even remember how to do a single crochet and I wasn't using a pattern.

Okay, the pattern is awesome, but it also happens to have the best tutorial for how to do a chainless foundation crochet stitch I have seen yet. So many hookers who have explained it or uploaded videos for it either don't explain it well or fly through it much faster. This shows very clearly how to do it, which is super freaking awesome!

    I made it!
I know everyone will have a different experience, I just wanted to give my insight.
I thoroughly enjoyed working this pattern, and will likely go back to it in the future. Your teaching style is incredible! I made this as a late Christmas gift for a friend, and for a long time knitter new to crochet it turned out better than I would have ever expected. I'll admit I got frustrated right off the bat with the foundation double crochet stitches FDC. I understood the reasoning behind it, but all I succeeded in doing was making a big knot that I couldn't make heads or tails of, and no matter how many times I rewound the video to figure out where those two strands were to insert my needle into next, I just didn't see what everyone else saw. I even looked at other tutorials, but no luck there either. I found my solution when I came across a tutorial to make a triple treble crochet stitch TTR. The way it was done looked almost identical to the FDC, and the 'posts' were perfect for doing the front and back post stitches and it turned out beautifully. I was afraid that it wouldn't be stretchy enough so I made 45 chains instead of the normal 40 that the pattern called for and it more than sufficed for the length and elasticity that I was going for. Sadly I didn't have enough of the Dallas gray to do the alternating rows, but had just enough (literally down to a few inches) for the last two rows, but found that my Washington Denim looked great for the color alternation.
I tried to be as accurate to the pattern as possible, but my opinion of the Windsor home spun yarn was that it was TERRIBLE on that large gauge. It was like working with carpet fibers, and trying to HDC into each stitch was ever more cumbersome. I didn't have enough of each color left to make the tassels, so I thought after the nightmare I had with the home spun Windsor, and being that I had a ton of it left I would use it and make them. It was impossible. Once I was able to measure out the desired length, the problem was keeping them all together. They kept getting tangled and knotted up, so I went back to the Washington Denim I had left and measured out 2 arms width lengths and made a single crochet chain similar to the chain made to lace up the back of the hood, but with double the ply because I folded it in half. I tied those babies on the first front post, cut them to make them even, and attached a couple of pompoms to the ends, and it looked great!
The ears looked amazing! I've knit ears many times, but I've never crocheted ears before. I think for projects in the future I'll be crocheting them from now on. Much easier.
Overall this pattern was a delight, and with your teaching style, I was never too lost, and that made this pattern easy and fun to follow along with. Everyone will have a different experience, and this was mine. Great job Nadia! (YARNutopia)

BLESS YOUR KIND SOUL!!!!! I can't tell you how thankful i am for finding this!!! I've seen this hood years back and tried to find a way to make it b/c my family and i aren't blessed with money to buy the ones that were selling for $99.35 (+$33.84), $60, and going only down to $40 (+$3-7). But everywhere i had looked then was only for sell. I've tried explaining and showing my grandmother (an expert crochet create) and tried asking her to make it for me, but she couldn't understand it or what was going on with it. HOWEVER!! Now i can make one for myself, the colors that please me, AND size of the hood!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! my inner girl is squeeing with excitement to finally make it
P.S. reading the comments already left it is understandable that you are getting payed for this but that allows you to afford more supplies to share more tutorial designs and yourself to feed, no hate here just very thankful to finally find this tutorial

So easy and cool! I used a 10mm hook and a thinner yarn so I ended up stitching up 60 instead of 40 at the start. Just up to the step of tying up the back, really hoping I can figure the last steps out since Im struggling to find what stitches Im meant to lace into, but such a great tutorial. I find it too hard to follow written patterns so video tutorials like this are AMAZING. Thank you

Thank you for another fantastic tutorial. I'm a big fan from the UK. I am planning to make this in the new year. For any fellow Brits out there, I am using King Cole Big Value Super Chunky; shade 24 Grey 100g x 2, king Cole Big Value Super Chunky Twist; shade 2250 Blue Twist 100g x1, Cygnet Bumper Bouclé; shade 2270 Frisee 100g x1, and a generic chenille super chunky single strand "milk" yarn on order from China. I will also use a 15mm crochet hook which is a lot smaller than the one in the video so I anticipate doing more stitches per row. I wish they sold the original yarns here in the UK! In the past I have ordered red heart from the US but I got burned with an £8 tax charge on top of the nearly £30 price, so won't be doing that again! I will keep you posted on the outcome. Xx

I just bought the same crochet needle and it is a US Q/15.75 mm size hook to be exact. I purchased it from a local Joann's sewing and craft store. You can also order on line from Joann's if you do not have a local store near you. Also try Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and A.C. Moore Craft stores too. Most of these store are on line as well.

This is such a great video! I just love this hat and so does my daughter. The nice thing about this hat (aside from its cuteness) is that it not only fits me but my 6 year old daughter looks adorable in it as well! :) YARNtopia by Nadia made it so easy to follow along with this video. She was so clear, detailed and went at a steady pace while explaining and showing how to make this hat. I've watched many crochet videos and Nadia's video is the only one that I've personally run across that is the best. Thanks for sharing your great work Nadia! My hat turned out perfect! :)

Thank you so much for putting up this wonderful tutorial. I am just putting the finishing touches to the my first hood I have made from your instructions. Stupidly I thought the hood looked to short so doubled the chain...I won’t do that again it’s now huge but still looks ok and my niece loves it regardless. I doubled chunky yarn which I will never do again it was a nightmare so I’m using extra chunky for that next one. Thanks again so much! I will follow your Chanel avidly.

I tried making this but had different yarn to work with so it came out a bit different and I didnt add the braid tassels in the front but it still came out super cute!. Hoping I can put up some pics of it on pinterest sometime soon.

Wow! You took something cool and made it spectacular! I’m making this to gift the young ones in my life.
Just one lil thing, you don’t mention anywhere here that you have a kit for sale to make this awesome hood! I bet people would love to get it, especially if they live outside of the USA, as it get a lil tricky trying to get similar yarns in different locations.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and keep on giving the world beauty and sweetness.

Ur crazy if u think these yarns art widely available . They're everywhere. Bernat yarn is popular world wide. I'm in Canada and have tons of it myself. I made the entire pattern in it. I know of it being in south Africa. Asia. The UK and Australia. It's widely available.

I got the same 3 pack I think. My hook that size is P 16-11.5mm. The larger plastic hook is Q 16-16.00mm. The smaller one was aluminum size L /11-8.00mm.

I have been trying to crochet forever. I have every tool known to man except this hook apparently ( I'm getting it today)
Every tutorial on the TH-cams is horrible for crochet. EXCEPT this one. I could never get anything to look like anything. It all looked sloppy and horrible. I really wanted to make a hood that wasn't made on my looms. You made it easy, you repeat yourself so much it becomes second nature. You make it ok to still make this with other colors ( for people like me that's huge in a video)
I didn't have this hook or yarn, what I did have was a large hook ( smaller than yours but still big I think N) 🤔. I doubled up on thinner yarn I had and did it. You said in the video it can be completed in an afternoon and I did it in an evening ( I started in the afternoon. For someone who's never gotten past a crooked chain to completing a rectangle of 11×28 ( more or less). You don't give an actual dimension for finishing size . I'm a dwarf so it's hard to judge sizes for me. I just hope I got it right. Can you please tell me the inches you finished the rectangle at? Thank you so much for taking the time and having the patience to make this video.
My grandmother taught us over 40 years ago. And I just couldn't remember anything. Thank you for helping me and keeping this skill alive 🙌 🙏 👏

Thank you for sharing this! But as I live in France and we have a different sizing system of hooks and yarns, my work is not so like yours. So for those in France, I would suggest the number 8 yarns and size 8-10-15mm hooks.
