Thank you for this! This is my first year opening my storefront. Everything you said is 100 percent correct! This is my dream, and I love helping others! I actually enjoy it...but sometimes I doubt myself because of the stress, and absolutely no down time! I just keep praying because I dont know what else I would do! I need to get the right help, but good help is hard to come by.

    • @shawnailz412
      @shawnailz412 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes good and genuine Helo is hard to come by even with friends and family unfortunately DONT DO BUSINESS WITH FAMILY maybe making them assistant but not too much. Try not to expose where you shop etc. people are always backstabbing are trying stick around to learn your secrets and bounce. My own sister is mad at me for telling her how much my total salon rent is because she’s trying to figure out if I’m over charging her. Tbh I asked $100 week she has a online boutique that I own personally spending $50-150 every visit I told her I wanted a $109 she got an attitude like I feel like that’s reasonable. That’s least I personally been charge most $150 week both rent and I had someone taking 60% AND I STILL SUPPLIED NY OWN MATERIAL
it’s so discouraging at times trying to build your salon dream team cause like you said I don’t want no drama etc but I know females always find a way start something but I’m doing be the one who DEADS IT
I worked at plenty salons as a nails tech some Vietnamese some hair salons own by African Americans and I seen things I didn’t want to do. SHOOT MY OWN SCHOOL DISAPPOINTED ME putting dish detergent in shampoo bottles because they don’t have supplies like IF I DONT GOT I JUST DONT I’m not going charge for professional products when I’m using DISH DETERGENT
Unfortunately this industry can have a lot of greedy and people and when yours really trying to build your own team it CAN BE ROUGH

See I'm totally opposite I had an amazing salon I was renting the building had 3 girls and a nail tech ran a small town monopolized it but 8 years later he wanted the building back because he was a pastor and his church was leaking so he wanted to move his congregation there I got let go and now my house is my salon and I hate it all my ppl followed me I'm grateful for them I'm a barber / hairdresser and I wouldn't change that for the world I love going to work everyday I love chilling with my peoples I love seeing people that have supported me for the last five years last eight years but doing it out of my house is burning me out and it's not making you love this anymore and I hate that the only thing that's got me happy is knowing that I can get a storage shed and convert that over not a tiny house but make it into a salon so that's my next move wish me luck

Never a franchise but a private yes.
I have the worst haircut(Rocker with an 80s hairstyle,,)for the business of hairstylist.
But still despite not liking and having zero interest in fashion and hair styles I bought an 95k hair salon that has 9 chairs and 2 spa rooms(these rooms are already leased before purchasing the place and cover 4000$ of the 6100$ monthly lease!..
Mortgage is 720$/month-I provided 10k in down payment.
I am in the International Vancouver,Canada.
    My location is Downtown.
And yes I do offer at least great opening hours 7 days a week and 12 hours a day access to the salon for the stylists.
That help getting stylists moving in,,
On the 9 chairs I managed to have 5 rented out monthly by the second week owning it.
    -5000$
plus the already income from both spa already rented out rooms
    -4000$
    INCOME---9000$/MONTH (squaring here)
    Monthly expenses are:
    Mortgage-720$
    Utilities-400$ (squaring here)
    Lease-6100$
    Property tax-280$
    EXPENSES---7500$(squaring here again,)
So I end out right now with 2500$ a month doing absolutely nothing, nothing.
And still have 4 chairs to rent out.
then once the chairs rented out my 2500$ will become 6500$ a month doing nothing(utilities might go up of 200$ish so 6300$.
Now you have a detailed! plan that show you"yes buy an hair salon!!!"
    -BUY SMALL
    -NO FRANCHISE
-NEVER HIRE PROFESSIONALS BY THE HOUR!(MONTHLY CONTRACTORS ONLY)
    All best!

This is why I have been trying to teach my daughter to get a Business Education. You got to have the knowledge people. The school of hard knocks will break your spirit in Business even if it is an online Business. You just can't float through with no Business Strategy, Business Plan, Marketing Plan, etc. I like her story but I think she would have a lot better ending if she had a better Business Plan and Strategy up front. Remember most businesses fail within the first 5 years and trust me there is a reason for this.

    • @BrittneyBundles
      @BrittneyBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching!
I had a business plan. There are many entrepreneurs that have a business education and have experienced similar experiences. I've had the pleasure to speak at multiple colleges (business courses) outling my journey and how to maintain while moving forward after "failing" in business. A very important part in business is not only knowing when to start, but also knowing when to get out. I wish everyone the best in their business endeavors and look forward to continued growth and prosperity through the grace of God.
Here's a link to one of the business classes that I was invited to speak at: th-cam.com/video/2xrXPAFV7BQ/w-d-xo.html
It was because of my business strategy that I am now able to live out my dream of empowering people through entrepreneurship...while making mobile money online, through workshops, presentations, and speaking events.

Yeah owning a brick and mortar business is not for everyone. Some people prefer online business, and some prefer store fronts. It's about preference and the different skills required for each but we'll never know what works for us til we jump in! Another thing to consider is industry, some people might think e-commerce or opening a store isn't for them, but in reality they could've just been in the wrong industry or opened the wrong kind of business for their personality 🤷
I'm like you though, I have to jump in and see for myself lol I'd rather know now than spend the rest of my life wondering what if! Thanks for sharing
