I remember this game well. First time I've seen the whole game on YT. Thanks for the upload.

The Raiders tightends: Dave Casper, Raymond Chester, Derrick Ramsey, Todd Christensen. You think they were deep enough at that position? Wow.

Watching this video off and on the past few days really got me to see the greatness but clear flaws of the Pat/Tom team and once Madden got comfortable, he outshined Brookshire in analysis in the second half.

You have to remember Pat and Tom were buddies. They went way back to the early 60's. It was hard on both, especially Tom when CBS broke up the Party!

Brookshier was turrible. He never says anything intelligent.

Who is that incredibly beautiful black haired woman in the crowd on 41:22 , oh my God... yeah and the Falcon's uniforms were much better back then .

Wow 😮#☝️ just too think 🧐🤔! One year later 1980 ! Oakland would upset the heavily favored eagles! Plunkett at QB. Would have been great if stabler would've won that game!😊

This game was on opposite Game 5 of the World Series on ABC. I was watching baseball and was shocked to see the score balloon so quickly to 50-12 Raiders. The Falcons couldn't string together consecutive winning seasons until the 21st Century.

I thought Van Eeghan was going to be a HOF running back. 1k yards for 3 straight seasons, but they quit giving him the ball after that.

1979 Phil Villapano's last season with Raiders. He would go on to Bills , finishing in 1982. Now Im a life- long Steeler fan but those Raiders teams of early to mid 70s were very very tough and talented, especially no 41 for Raiders. A different time, a better time when they actually played football.

It's laughable how the NFL is so patient with wyt players and coaches. Even when they are screwing up the team. The falcons kicker missing supposedly chip shot kicks continued to stay on the team.

Great season '79. A true classic from the Oakland coliseum! Brookshire & Summerall were a great team of announcers. Probably only 3 hrs sleep for each as they loved to party late. That's why CBS broke them up.

I wonder if Pat and Tom hopped across the bay to the city of San Francisco and hit up the city bars the night before this game.

    • @realMartinHamilton

@@tommyparkerparker my bet is Yes! Almost certain. In an interview Brookshire said if CBS hadn't broken them up they would've probably both lost their livers very soon. Madden to the rescue!

@@realMartinHamilton That, and Brookshier was a boob. He never added any insight to the games.
I always hated it when he would call a game I wanted to watch.

@@ciesaro WAS a legend? Do you mean "IS a legend"?
He was a drunk who added little to nothing as a commentator.
He was good at narrating the GOTW series from a studio, however. He was Pat Summerall's legendary drinking buddy.

The funny about watching this, I’ve been living in Metro Atlanta now for over 30 years and have met a few of these Falcons. Everyone of them say they would’ve whipped the Raiders in the Super Bowl had they not blown it against the Cowboys in 1980. I ask them about this game and they give some amusing responses…

In the 1970s the Oakland Raiders mostly OWNED the NFC in fact only one NFC team won a game at the Oakland Coliseum in the decade. the San Francisco 49ers in 1970. Oakland played Atlanta three times in the decade winning twice.
