That cyclone buff sure is crazy. Sick not only to see battlemech in high-level pro games, but to see it actually dominating games is insane. Perhaps a bit of an overbuff, looks really hard for zerg to deal with, but it's definitely a fun shift in the meta to watch after the long time where only bio was considered viable at the highest level.
I think Zerg will find a way to deal with it eventually. The buffs make it viable, nothing more. It definitely is very entertaining to watch though, as it is polar opposites to Terrans like Maru's slow expand and turtle strategies. I would love to see someone like Byun and Clem play this, but I think that's asking a little too much of Byun. Micro Jackson would consider playing something besides Marine, Marauder, Medivac blasphemy 🤣
Battlemech looks rough for Zerg. Ravagers did okay despite lack of upgrades, so maybe max upgrade ravagers with more spines to limit run-by would do it? Could even try forest of spines to anchor brood push. Doubt ultras would work despite changes to mag field, and swarm host looked too slow due to cooldown. Nydus backstabs also seem rough given mobility of cyclones/hellions, but worth a try on bigger maps.
It's a slippery slope if you're behind vs this style - it looks nearly unstoppable. But if you can hit some backstabs, surround the army with a flank OR land a fungal to catch them from running away - any of that can crush the very fragile battle mech army very suddenly and turn the game around completely. All about map control and who's in charge. If the Terran's picking all the fights and not getting surprised it's sick good
I don't think there was any counter attack from Reynor on game 3, probably because zerglings get vaporized by blue flame. I think the answer might still be mutalisks, as a harassment unit rather than front line unit
Yeah some sneaky banes in the worker lines maybe, but definitely keen to see what Reynor cooks up with more preparation

Im curious to see the new ravens being massed with cyclones and hellions. Since ravens are so cheap and build so much faster now I feel like you can cyclone/raven swarm.
Hard to pull off with the gas cost of them.. on the other hand if you can continually spam those turrets in mineral lines and blast drones? Yeah I reckon Gumiho will show us some cool strats!

Looks like a fun patch. Be cool if Terrans wreck Zerg for a couple of years with battle mech.
Honestly, I'm fine with that. Terran has been solved for years versus Zerg, and the solution is boring to watch. There's been no progress in fixing it because the metal league Terran community are such extrordinary crying babies about nerfs. Even if it has to happen through buffing other options instead of nerfing MMMM, it's worth it. I'm so tired of watching the same thing every game.

The potential of battle mech now is insane. When terrans will play battle mech flawlessly, I think that will show how strong it is. As far as I see, it's a bit too strong.
Really hope we get to see some games where the zerg tries mutas again. Also when Serral faces this - his burrow infestor ambushes are NEXT level - so I think we'll see some really interesting games at Katowice if the Terrans are brave enough to try out a style they haven't practiced as much lately
I totally agree with pig on game 3. Muta is the best against mech. The first hit at 7 min is just gg. Just ling attack upgrades and mass mutas. I even wipe thors with mutas while constantly denying the 3rd with lings.
This is great. I'm in full support of buffing Cyclones if it means anything but watching medivacs fly around wasting everyone's time until T can spam enough Ghosts to roll their face on the keyboard.

@@mastaofkush I was low Master when I played. Which is when it was even worse, because we hadn't learned how to build every map around how badly designed Terran is, so that they don't just have a 2:1 winrate in every league, every year.

Generally yep. Zerg doesn't have the production constraints of the other races, you can suddenly make dozens of any unit and all you need is one tech structure - whilst Terran and Protoss have to slowly add all the production and build them one at a time. So Zerg generally have lower power units but the explosive nature of their production and ability to rapidly tech switch make up for it
How did he not lose that first push from heromarine? Because zerg is stupidly broken. Wanna hold a a push that cost gas to build the building and unit? No worries Zerg, just use minerals, 1 building, YOUR GOOD!
