I see people hating on Scowl for not being hardcore enough. Take it from a hardcore OG I'm 54 and I was there for the birth of hardcore. Bands evolve and change. Sure, some of their songs lean towards mainstream pop punk. That's OK. They'll reach a larger audience. I've seen interviews with this band and I believe they understand the message of hardcore. They don't have to be hard or heavy all the time. The true essence of punk is NO RULES

of all the songs (so far) from the EP i think this is the best, it's a perfect mix of their two styles. I hope the remaining 2 songs on the EP are straightforward hardcore as that would make it feel really balanced; 2 melodic Breeders type songs, this, and 2 hardcore songs, it would be perfect

Two of the songs are melodic and 3 very fast hardcore! Same thing Metallica did with its second album in 1984. They kept the speed of Kill Em All but added a few melodic songs. Scowl seems to be doing the same. There's lots of speed but a few melodic songs to bring in a bigger audience. Let's hope they're the next big thing in Rock Music...

yep, this is really an amazing song, great idea to go from screaming, then into slow heavy groove then back to screaming again, it's like a new variation on the Nirvana formula, very cool.
