I have been saying time and again, the lay person should not be allowed to such proximity to HH. In old days, it was very difficult to even get a glimpse of HH. I blame the organizers who allowed this to happen as there are slanderous person waiting for an opportunity to defame his HH. It has been tried in the past as well.. Culture , traditions of tibetens and manifestation of compassion as HH portrays will all be gone with this hyper sexualized western thought process. I have always wanted to visit and feel his warmth and loving kindness with my wife and my 4 years old daughter and in fact have been restless since knowing and fearing his ripe old age and his frail body.. but am willing to forgo any such close meeting if his reputation will be hurt...
We certainly do not deserve HH Dalai Lama , in this 21st century of unimaginative chaos and violence, a sane voice is being slandered.. what a times to live .. P.S kindly look into the unedited videos and the mother and child's interview... also HH is not a strong English speaker..he still needs translater as he is not able to project words which he means, he has done that several times earlier... Grandfatherly love and expression are all being questioned because few did horrible things.. I certainly miss my Grandfather more now seeing these unfounded reactions..
Move on guys, look for pedophile elsewhere and not certainly in the institution of HH Dalai Lama.

funny that the one who screams most, is someone like CardiB who creates songs about pussy and whores - do you see the front page of her song WAP? it's her showing out her tongue. the dance is even more hideous. butt movements indicating sex movements. Of course, nothing but sex comes to her mind when HH shows tongue. it doesn't seem she is concerned that her songs will pollute the young minds and teenagers. but wait, there is this old man saying suck my tongue, let's protect our children! double standards. in the western mind, the word suck is always related to different kind of sex acts.

That is true there is no need to show accountability to India. They are the ones who housed the Tibetans who ran out of Tibet. There is no need to show accountability to Westerners who sent many millions of dollars of support to Tibetan Buddhism and support the return of Tibet to Tibetan people. It will work better to just stuck your heads in the sand and have no accountability. Yes lose all your allies and just get Tibet back yourselves. He is lucky he did that in India where he can pay off the police and the child's parents. In many Western nations, he would be charged with assaulting an underage child not of the age of consent.

But you saw only 5 seconds blur face look like child is really sucking it created by ccp . You should watch the entire video without edited and watch the parents interview after that event . Many thanks Geshela for the clarity and sobriety of your comments, because they are based also on such long and close interaction with HHDL over the years. I am also saddened tr Tibetan attacks on each other, and want to urge people to cease and desist, we need to unify based not just on devoltion but knowledge of this remarkable Dalai Lama who reshaped a once more distant entity to a very approachable, informal and very warm one. As someone who is 72, Social Media is not a hill to die on, it thrives on consumption of instant images, instant noodles and instant judgements. There is a tremendous clip from NY based Jigmela from the Tibetan National Congress that is very media savvy and shows the outtakes that were not part of the clip, they show the child with his mother, breaking the traditional cocoanut as His Holiness leaves the meeting in an act of respect. There was no sign of trauma etc. There is among a good part of Indian policy, cultural and security elites a great deal of veneration and respect for His Holiness, Barka Dutt herself spoke of her respect etc, we need to reach out to them with our perspectives. I thought Tenzin Tsuduela a well known activist also spoke well. The critical thing, as we all know in crisis communications is for the message from our side to be clear, unambiguos and aimed at those who start with a based of support, no point in trying to please the Trolls, futile and not a good value for effort. Above all, we Tibetans need to keep out cool, stay on course and remember, in the social media world: This Too Shall Pass...Just lets take those who are already with us but confused with us.

I agree with Geshe la, VOA has really done blunders and they won't even take responsibility of the mess they created. We really do wish to thank Geshe Thupten lak for his detailed talk on the current issue. It's truly unfortunate that the concerned media people made an attempt to tarnish the image of our Kundun by focusing only on that cheap edited clip and overlooking the rest of the meaningful talks and advices he gave to the children. without taking into consideration his achievements as a MONK, sacrificing his entire life as a messenger of peace. However, we would appreciate if you could give a similar talk in English to educate some of these naive media people as well as trollers to get the facts right before jumping to conclusions. You have to give other the benefit of doubt. There is a saying "A slip of tongue is no fault of mine"Taking into consideration that the Dalai Lama often needs translaters to get the right word. So in this situation the Dalai Lama would have definitely meant touch my tongue instead. Coz that's our Tibetan culture to touch the tip of the tongue as a mark of affection for children. We all have experienced that as a child. Its not to be taken in the wrong sense. That's where the cultural difference comes in. it's very unlike the Dalai Lama to use a word like that, had he known what it really meant to general people. He wouldn't have a clue for sure as his mind is pure being a MONK, their perspective is different from ordinary human being.
Lastly rightly so as u mentioned, it's imperative that the concerned Tibetan officers in charge should do a thorough check of all the contents of the videos and all the media people coming in contact with Kundun, their credibility and background check etc.
    LONG LIVE HIS HOLINESS!!! 💐💐💐🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The controversy created by the doctored video clip to tarnish good image of HH the Dalai Lama is very unfortunate. The statement issued by Gadhen Phodrang is of extremely poor quality and did not make sense. The full video shows both boy and his mother speaking well and not hurt. So why HH had to apologise "for the hurt his words may have caused"? The statement should have given background of the event and link to the full video to silence critics there and then. This is why people are not satisfied with the statement. Who is responsible? GP staff should be careful, act professionally and not be hhara whuri.

In western culture, lots of people use so many part of our human body for the pleasure of sex or as sexual objects such as mouth, tongue, breasts, hands, bottom, anul or ass hole. Unfortunately H.H the Dalai Lama do not know about these things. So he showed his love, kindness towards the boy by the way how we Tibetans do to our kids.
I am living in western culture and so many people keeping ask me" licky, licky mate."
I used to give my boys my tongue and also suck their snorts by thinking more comfortable than wipe with tissue, ( but our parents did not have tissues like we have here) as our parents did this sort of things to us. We hardly hear from them word that "I love you" all the time, although we know they love us indeed.
I wish I were that boy who has gotten such caring and loving kindness from H.H Dalai Lama with wishful praying.
The boy did not feel uncomfortable with Dalai Lama's interaction. In his interview the boy said feel good and positive, just after this incident without any pressure to say only good things.
Let us think that condition of Dalai Lama's body. He is nearly 88 years old. He needs two people holding him up either side. So do you guys really think H.H the Dalai has intention to have sexual pleasure with that boy? Entire his life H.H the Dalai Lama has been celibate. Now he is accused of these kind of wrong thing or harmful thing. So we, Tibetans feel it is not fair at all.
Normally CCP banned tibetans to have any things that related to H.H Dalai Lama in Tibet. Now Tibetans in Tibet are allowed to watch this incident with Dalai Lama. CCP always tries tibetans seperate from Dalai Lama. But we will never seperate from our loving compassionate father of our nation. Long live H.H the Dalai Lama.
