Was it much heavier with the batteries, and how did that affect the suspension? Did you have to beef up the latter?

Pneumatic unit? The only hydraulic system I'm aware of on the 2CV/Dyane/Ami/Mehari was the brakes. The fancier Citroens like the DS, CX, GS and SM did have hydropneumatic suspension, but not the 2CV and its derivatives.
