Hahaha, yes. There's a lot of pressure in Asian culture to go to college and get a degree and everything since it can lead to a fruitful job, but my parents have always supported my decisions which I'm extremely thankful for. Throughout my years of school they never really pressured me to excel in everything they just knew that I would as long as I did my best. So when I decided to quit college, they showed me the same support as before (when I was still in school) because they believe that I can still do great things despite not having a degree. 🥰♥️
For some reason, her ethnicity helped me agree convince myself that she’s credible too. I’m Mexican. People always say, “your parents crossed the border for you to have an education that they didn’t.” Which I’m sure other races can relate to.. that had be super hostage on my decision of quitting. I now work full time for an awesome company, (I started off doing nails at home and other little jobs) and I couldn’t feel much grateful for having this opportunity. I was scared because I started as a temp and I felt that without my degree no one would accept/hire me. Because I am 21 and a female. There are several variables for my stress and frustration. And I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that feels great to make a decision of quitting school.. cause it really haunted me to even think about.
Girl i feel you, insane how we're supposed to pick our future careers at 18. I was the batch valedictorian and people were so sure I'd smooth through college, but really I keep dreaming of dropping out. As you've said the mental drain it puts on all of us is crazy. College isn't right for me and I hate how normalized it is that it's the only way to be 'successful' when really it's not.
Right?? It’s such a big decision and it’s not that simple when you think about it. You could change your mind in the future and a lot of people also tend to get jobs that aren’t related to their degrees. Yeah, it’s a lot of work and I salute everyone who is toughing it out through college. I wish I had that drive and patience for it, but I just don’t. College is also something you can always go back to. It’s not a race anyways. I agree that there are jobs that definitely require a degree but not every job does. Getting a degree also isn’t a complete measure of success. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having second thoughts. Best of luck to you! ❤️
@@MaiaKintanar Lol truee!! I just wish the pressure that comes from dropping out of college (esp from family) wasn't this intense. They look at me like I'm crazy whenever I try to bring it up 😭 Im still weighing my options but I just know I'll end up being miserable if I don't do something about it.
Goodness! You don't know how much it meant to me when the TH-cam algorithm decided to suggest this video to me. Similar situation, I quit university last 2019 after just a month of studying there. It was my dream university but for some reason, I didn't feel happy. I was really disappointed in myself and my mental health began going downhill. Long story short, I packed all my bags and went home. The rest of 2019 to 2020 was suppose to be my year of redemption but Corona happened and all my plans were ruined. Until now I still feel betrayed by it and I know I'm not the only one who feels the same way. For the sake of my sanity, I went back to college again but this time here in my hometown and online. After a few months in it, I stopped attending behind my mother's back. I just didn't like the idea of college now. The state of my mental health ain't helping either. I have people around me but still no one to talk to. I am scared for sure with what I did and my current mental state. Anyway, this video calmed me somehow. Learned that you understand/spake Cebuano, so daghang salamat! I-ampo ra jud nato aning future no kay samok kaayo ning si Covid ay. 😂😊💪

Huhu, couldn't figure it out though. 😆😭 Anyways, it really means a lot to me that you're sharing your story here. 🥺♥️ Yes, it is completely okay to change your mind and re-think things about your future! Wow, I knew I'm not alone who thinks it's okay to quit college or just don't go, until you know exactly what to do! Thank you, your video helped me to think easier 🥂
I'm so happy to see a fellow Filipino discuss this topic that I have been worrying about for 2 years. I just don't see college as a good investment for me in the long term. Sometimes I doubt myself about this choice that I have to make because it is still ingrained on me that graduating and having a degree is the only path to success. I am thankful that you created this kind of content because it made me feel that I am not alone in this kind of journey that we choose to take in life.
Yeah, honestly college isn't for everyone and that's perfectly fine. I know that it's very important in our culture for children to go to college and get a degree because it somehow symbolizes great accomplishment and people tell us that it's a sure way to secure a job in the future but that's not always true. You can be plenty successful and get a job without having a college degree. I know that different households in Filipino families put a lot of pressure on kids to go to college and it can sometimes make you feel like you don't have a choice, but if you have something else in mind that you think is worth pursuing I think it's okay to divert from the path they intended for you. You don't have to feel ashamed or embarrassed for not going to college, lots of people do it and they turn out just fine and plenty of people have become extremely successful without a college degree. You just have to figure out what else it is that you want to do and go from there. Try your best, put in the effort, and you'll get there. Good luck to you! 🤗❤️ Thank you so much for commenting this. I'm glad I made you feel a little better about your decision.
i just found this video today, and honestly i am relieved to see this since i'm struggling to continue my course with this online class setting. i am not able to grasp everything in every lessons/subjects i have. i'm just trying to pass each semester without the proper understanding of my major. the more i step into another year, the more i felt disappointed with myself since i know that i am not capable enough to apply this course in real life, and i am not ready. i hope i could find a back up plan, if ever i'll finally decided to quit.
Hi, thank you for watching! Aww, I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. Kudos to you for at least trying and pushing onwards. That's already quite an accomplishment. It's okay to feel disappointed and if you're not ready try to take some time out to think about what you really want. Good luck with everything! You've got this. 🤗💖
I'm finding a lot of videos that will help me explain to my family why I want to drop out of academic college. I'm a visual artist by the way and vocational college for me is enough. I hope this video will also help me convince my family. The reason why I don't want academic college in the first place is because of so many requirements and the road there is a maze (Lots of complications) that may be too complex for an autistic lad like me. My career path is more of a non-academic one because it's not on the academic track.
Hello! I’m glad you were able to come across my video. Hopefully it was helpful enough for you. You seem to know what path you want to take so that’s great! I hope your family is understanding about your decision and that they support you. I wish you all the best. ☺️💗
Currently taking my mechanical engineering degree. Although I love the field, everything else is slowly killing me. I'm also away from home which is fine. I'm considering on shifting or dropping out not just because of the difficulty, but the thought of being pulled down and slowly deteriorating while studying. I'm also bad at maths no matter how I study. Racing was my passion but money was the issue. I don't know what to do anymore.
I agree, it's not like I don't appreciate education, but sometimes we have to see what is important for out live, and if you continue it just making it all waorse, why do it? I'm still in college, but I planning to get out : )

We have the same situation Mai, Before ko mo skwela sa college I know that wala pa dyud ko ka decide unsa ako kuhaon na course but my tita insist na mag nursing ko, so ako nga gusto masunod ang gusto nila gikuha nako ang Nursing (and also gusto nila maka grad ko on time.) At first happy man sad ko when I was still a nursing student not until when pre finals came, nawad an nako ug gana mo sulod sa class, sometimes I will find excuses para dili ko maka skwela. Every night sige ko ug hilak maghunahuna unsa jud gusto nko e take, so I decided nga mo stop sa pagskwela (also nursing was way too expensive and some of my classmates gave me life advices that helped me love and do the things that I'm passionate with.) FF, until now wala gihapon ko ni skwela because pandemic happened and also I don't like online class. Almost 2 years nako wala mo skwela and wala ko gamahay nga ni stop ko for now because I was able to experience the things that I might not be able to do in the future. Life is not a race bb, kinahanglan lang jud ta maging madiskarte and at least mabuhat nimo imong gusto kaysa sa makahuman ka sa college pero dili mo gusto imo gikuha. Yes, it really is frustrating and depressing. It is perfectly fine to take some time to figure things out. Good luck with everything! You got this. 🤗🙏💓
As of right now, i don't know what to do or think, but what all i do know is that, I don't want to go to college. 18 years of school, i have graduated this year, and i hate it. What's another 4 years gonna do? I can't, i just can't. The reasons why i am still not throwing this college shit through the window is because people keeps saying "Oh it will be worth it, There would be more opportunities for you", Would it be though?, They say that if you want to go to visit other countries, i have to go to college and stuff, And i also heard some stories that people usually aren't happy with how things work, They don't have the money for it, they get stressed because of it, lots of people dropped out and regretted they did it. Man, i was anxious and crying just thinking about it and now i am tired and could care less, i have little knowledge on how this stuff works too and that would lead me to more horrible decisions. I also don't want to work for people, i had enough of it. I want to work for myself and people to work for me excluding the people that i despise and my stalker that always beg, beg and beg for favors. They say school prepare you for the future, well they didn't prepare me for college because i have little to no knowledge on how this works later on. I have signup for my "college of dreams" too, Attended the entry test last month, and now all i have to do is to wait the result at 14th of June. If i fail, then my mom wants me to go to another college, which i don't want to. At the end of it all, i think nothing will work out for me either way. If all is fail, and i wasn't accepted to the college that i want to get in. i am not taking another college or wait for another year, i am going to start my own canteen or other stuff. My dream is to get out of Indonesia, and move to New zealand or France. Thank you for reading this, sorry if i didn't give a clear insight or probably it was way off.
Hiii, thanks for sharing your story with me. 🤗 I get why you're feeling this way. For some people, college just isn't the right fit and maybe your goals are in a different direction. Yeah, some people do drop out and regret it later on because maybe they weren't able to achieve what they wanted in life, so you have to think about that. If you really don't want to go to college and you're sure, what else is it that you want to do? Honestly, you don't have to decide right away, but make sure that you are prepared for a scenario where things might not work out. But you can't let that stop you from not taking the chance, you really never know. You said that you don't want to work for other people, you want to make your own business, so that's great. You can start there. If you have some money to invest in starting your own canteen or anything you should definitely go for it. Just keep in mind that it come with a lot of responsibility. About your "college of dreams", that actually sounds like a wonderful opportunity and if you get in I think you should pursue that path because getting in could be a sign that it's meant for you. I'm just saying that if you get in and start taking your classes you might end up liking it and your feelings about college may change. Like, I said you never really know. If you work hard and really put your heart into whatever you want to do with your life, I'm sure you can attain your dream of moving abroad. You've got this! I hope this advice was helpful enough for you. Good luck with everything. ❤️
@@MaiaKintanar I was being sarcastic about the "Dream college" part :v, It's actually hell now that i got in.... Well 3 months ago after i posted the comment, days later... I took the test... I failed... Now it's already a sign that i maybe should've taken a year later to try again or maybe i shouldn't... But not a month later, they hold another test...i was pressured so much... With all of these stares from my family and friends... They keep saying "It's okay if you don't want to go to college" "It's okay to try again next year"... But i know all of them were lying, i know they were dissapointed in me, my guts were even more right when my dad asked me "What will you become" in a dissapointed tone, i am afraid too, i am dissapointed in myself as well... So i took another test.... I passed .... English education program. 2 weeks before i got to college, i was shocked to death when i hear that i have to enter college online two weeks later, at that time i didn't even have any preparations and my accounting teacher were shocked too and helped me... To be honest, i don't know what to do if my tutor wasn't here from my high school times, i would probably missed out on alot... It was a very stressful week. I got in, 3 days of college introduction, it started from 7 A.M to fricking 5 P.M.... First week, it was all okay... I think... Oh yeah, First day of the first lesson, and the teacher already gave me a fricking group project to others that i barely know except that one friend from junior, It's so fricking awkward just talking to them only through an app, and then there is this and that, And now i am in my second week, i just finished a fucking test that popped out of nowhere because of the lecturer's mistake, 2 hours of filling my info and 1 hour of actually doing the test :/. That's it... So... far the only thing that i like about online college is that i don't have to take a full day on... Only certain lessons at a certain time, every lesson only takes one hour and a half, which isn't bad... And i also love things that doesn't involve with group projects, I absolutely despise group projects and there are also those teachers that doesn't know how to time their schedule. Well that's that, this will probably be my last comment here or maybe not, Thank you for listening too, you are doing wonders for others too as they are probably just as lost as me and need to vent. I wish you luck too and thank you. Plus to this day i still have trouble remembering what my faculty name is and my college name too lol.

Wow! you're so fluent in speaking in English. You are good at explaining. May I know your nationality? Btw, I'm also considering to dropout but the problem is I don't have the courage to say it to my parents. Do you have any advice? Thank you!
Hi! Aww, thank you, it took many tries to explain all my thoughts here. I'm from the Philippines. 🇵🇭 Yes, I understand that it's hard to tell your parents because they might not react the way you hope they will. My advice would be to think the decision through and make sure that it's something you really want and are comfortable with. Then, if you've made up your mind about it, just be straightforward with your parents. Tell them the reason why you want to drop out (Is it putting too much stress on you? Are you having a hard time with online learning (if that's what mode of learning you're doing)? Did you realize that you want to go on a different path that doesn't really require a college degree?) Be honest with them about what you want and just ask for their support. I know that some parents get upset over these types of things but deep down I'm sure they just want what's best for their child. So, be prepared for that. They might not be okay with it at first, but I'm sure they'll come around because parents care about your happiness and well-being. Or they could be completely supportive, you never know! 🤗❤️ Another thing, know your options. You don't have to have a plan right away, but maybe there's something else you want to do besides going to college like getting a job or something that puts you in the direction of what you want to do instead. I'm sorry this was so long, but I hope that it can help you even just a little. You've got this! Good luck! ❤️🙏
Hahaha, take some time to figure out what you truly want. 🤗💖 If you think college is worth pursuing, then by all means, go for it!!! Good luck and God bless babes. ❤️🙏

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you ended up not liking your course. Yeah, it's hard to know what course you want and if it's worth it in the end, so I think it's okay to stop if it's really draining you. Some professors can be tough to deal with especially with the current situation we're in. Take some to think about it so you can be sure of your decision. I wish you luck! ❤️🤗 God bless.
If you really think it's not for you, it's okay to quit. 🤗 But if there's a part of you that wants to keep going, just try your very best! Good luck with your decisions! ❤️
If you're not really interested in it you can always try a different program. Just make sure to think about it first and really ask yourself if that's what you want. Best of luck to you. 🤗

Hiii, thanks for watching my video. I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. 🥺 If you feel like you're just trying to pass and not actually learning anything, it's okay to take a step back. College should be something that you actually want to invest your time and effort into and if it isn't, that's totally fine. You're allowed to quit if you would rather invest your time into something else. I know how the pressure can get to you when making a decision like this. About your mom, I think it would be best if you talked to her because this is something she needs to hear from you. Just be honest and tell her how you've been feeling and I'm sure she'll understand. Explain how difficult it's been and tell her that you don't absolutely need to go to college to make something of yourself. Remember that life isn't a race. ♥️ You certainly have your own journey to take that might not involve going to school. Take the time out to find your passion and be happy with what you do so you can enjoy the life you're living (this is important!). I hope this was helpful babe.
They look at me like I'm crazy whenever I try to bring it up 😭 Im still weighing my options but I just know I'll end up being miserable if I don't do something about it.
you may want to watch Good Will Hunting. follow your path whatever you feel doing. just be productive.
I quit college too. Now I'm a butterfly 🦋

Wow, I knew I'm not alone who thinks it's okay to quit college or just don't go, until you know exactly what to do! Thank you, your video helped me to think easier 🥂
Aw, you're welcome. Thank you for watching! 🤗❤️
College isn’t for everyone! You can still become successful without it!

Every night sige ko ug hilak maghunahuna unsa jud gusto nko e take, so I decided nga mo stop sa pagskwela (also nursing was way too expensive and some of my classmates gave me life advices that helped me love and do the things that I'm passionate with.) Almost 2 years nako wala mo skwela and wala ko gamahay nga ni stop ko for now because I was able to experience the things that I might not be able to do in the future. 2 years akong naging tambay and dun ko natutunan na ang tunay na pagsubok sa buhay eh hindi nagtatapos sa pagka graduate ng college and college for me doesn't teach me how to make money, how to survive in a real world situations, how to pay taxes and how to critically think sa mga bagay bagay. Now i'm joining in the Philippine Marine Corps as Enlisted Personnel or Going abroad to work. All i want in life is to earn money and have a family. I'm 23 and i'm writing battle plans for my future

Dont give up🙂
As of right now, i don't know what to do or think, but what all i do know is that, I don't want to go to college.
18 years of school, i have graduated this year, and i hate it.
What's another 4 years gonna do?
I can't, i just can't.
The reasons why i am still not throwing this college shit through the window is because people keeps saying "Oh it will be worth it, There would be more opportunities for you",
Would it be though?,
They say that if you want to go to visit other countries, i have to go to college and stuff,
And i also heard some stories that people usually aren't happy with how things work, They don't have the money for it, they get stressed because of it, lots of people dropped out and regretted they did it.
I get why you're feeling this way.
I think... Oh yeah, First day of the first lesson, and the teacher already gave me a fricking group project to others that i barely know except that one friend from junior, It's so fricking awkward just talking to them only through an app, and then there is this and that,
And now i am in my second week, i just finished a fucking test that popped out of nowhere because of the lecturer's mistake, 2 hours of filling my info and 1 hour of actually doing the test :/.
That's it...
So... far the only thing that i like about online college is that i don't have to take a full day on... Only certain lessons at a certain time, every lesson only takes one hour and a half, which isn't bad...
And i also love things that doesn't involve with group projects,
I absolutely despise group projects and there are also those teachers that doesn't know how to time their schedule.
Well that's that, this will probably be my last comment here or maybe not,
Thank you for listening too, you are doing wonders for others too as they are probably just as lost as me and need to vent.

Good luck! ❤️🙏

Why😟😟😟?? Mayang?
Hahaha, personally college just isn't right for me.
I'm contemplating leaving the phd program, I'm 1 semester in and I don't like it 😒
If you're not really interested in it you can always try a different program. Just make sure to think about it first and really ask yourself if that's what you want. Best of luck to you. 🤗
@@MaiaKintanar thanks so much, the issue is that making money is a huge issue for me right now since I want to move away from my parents home, and I honestly can't do that being in a phd program 😢
You're welcome. ❤️ Ahh, I see. Just make sure to think it over. 🤗 If you need to make money maybe try getting a part-time job if you have the time. See what's available in your area or even jobs online. You've got this! 💪
Hey, you want to talk to my mom and tell her for me? She doesn’t understand I already failed one class and I’m now a freshman I already have a low grade in my history class which I know would not improve and yes ik I can talk to my professor and many other people but I feel like I won’t get it or do even worse you know what I mean plus college now isn’t about learning it about passing and I don’t feel like I’m learning
I'm sorry if I can't be of more help, huhu. I really do hope that your mom is understanding of your situation, I'll be praying for you! ❤️
@@MaiaKintanar you’re welcome I really enjoyed this video. And this video made me feel so emotional I’m really trying and I’m not happy I’m tired of pretending everything okay when it really not I feel that I should quit and find something else I enjoy and feel happy in there are so many jobs I can do without needing a college degree. And am doing this for me I need to put myself first i feel so lost I don’t feel like I’m breathing I feel so much pressure it really upsetting and I’m going to hope that my mom understand me! Because I told her this before and she said no but maybe she will listen to me hopefully 😔
I am so sorry to hear that. It's normal to feel that way, but things will get better, I promise. Keep your head up, you got this! Yes, there are tons of jobs you can get without needing a college degree! Even if it's a small job, you can work your way up, save your money, and move on to something you're more passionate about. Just be adamant with your mom that this decision is what would make you happy and it could save so much money because college is expensive, hahaha. Good luck to you! ❤️
@@MaiaKintanar exactly thank you for understanding 🥺 and it better that I do it soon and let her know because the money is just going to go to waste it not worth it and yes there so many jobs I can do that will work for me and also later on might be successful
And thank you!
By the way, mangutana ra unta ko sa kung unsa may gi-ingon/reaksyon sa imong ginikanan tungod sa desisyon nimo? Salamat :)
Honestly, my parents were more than okay with it. They have always been supportive of all my decisions and aspirations, so I'm very thankful for that. I told my mom, "Mom, you wouldn't be mad if I didn't go to college, right?" and she said, "Yeah, it's okay dai. You don't really need to." Then my dad said it was fine as well, that they know I'll eventually just end up helping them out with our family business so college isn't something that I really needed to take part in. The way they see it, we can save some money and they want me to find a passion that I'm actually interested in. 😌♥️
@@MaiaKintanar Mapapasana all na lang talaga ako 😂😂😂 May God bless you and your family 💗💗💗
@@nicluc3720 Thank you so much. 😇 May God bless you and your family as well and continue to guide you on your journey in life. 🤗💗
the world is over saturated with graduates. the reason K12 is to prepare students without going to college. I saw this documentary about Chinese graduates who ended up working as a food delivery driver because no company would take him in.
i did lay groundwork before quitting college i will get serious on gaming
