So one of my best friends Tapu Riki has been asking me to do a piano cover of this for a while now, so I had to do it for him. Although he wanted it for his birthday, hopefully being a few days late will be okay.
So the main story of arranging this piece is : OWWWW MY ARM!!!!!
Seriously, the left hand is killer. I know I made some mistakes in my performance and I apologize ahead of time for that. My arm was literally killing me and this took me a good hour or more (I don't even remember, I could think about was how much my arm hurt) to record, and the constant bass groove is really taxing.
Splatoon 2 has some real sick tracks and I might get around to arranging a few more in the future. Into the Light might be my next video.

Thank you! A lot of people posted time stamps to when the actual song started. I actually thought doing the intro was a bit unique and my friend put in the work to create the images I used. At least someone here liked it :)

I feel like pearl and marina have a much stronger backstory than the squid sisters, they’ve both been through a lot and are always there for each other, I think the piano is the perfect instrument to capture this and the emotional ebb and flow remix at the end gave me the feels, amazing job :,’(

I'm sorry about that. I think I was recording for at least an hour and there were plenty of bad performances before I got this one that I liked. I also thought I played it a bit fast, which is probably why my arm was starting to hurt a lot by the end. I'll be more cognizant of my tempos in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

I love the Ebb and Flow section, and the intro is really well done too. I'm just kinda overly critical of the main section after listening to it a million times and knowing it note for note as I'm making an arrangement of this song too. Overall, great job!
GappleCore I'd like to see how you end up going about your arrangement. I ended up playing mine too fast so there were quite a few hiccups here and there. If you havent seen my sheet music for it, take a look, I think i hit a huge amount of the material. The only section I know I left out was during the B sections, theres this counter melody that goes in the background and I found it almost impossible to include that at the same time as the vocal melody. I'd need a third hand. If you end up figuring out a way to incorporate that without losing the vocal line and keeping it all in two hands major props to you!
Oh, I think you hit the limit in terms of content for a solo piano arrangement and you did a great job with it haha. By arrangement I meant a digital one so obviously it's a lot easier for me to include more content as I have unlimited space and time to get stuff in there. I'm just overly tuned to micromanaging everything digitally so it sounds different to me, but that's just a me problem after what I've been doing haha. Keep up the good work^
Edit: The main thing I'm noticing is at around 1:00 for example the second last note of the vocal bits varies a bit in your arrangement which I think is quite nice as it adds a bit of flare, but I think in the actual song the final note of each vocal bit is a lot more constant if you know what I mean. But it's a bit hard to tell because, you know, they're squids/octos. So it is open to interpretation.
I know what you mean about trying to get a clear pitch from their singing. You can only imagine how much hair I'm pulling out trying to get this Nasty Majesty transcription ready.
It is almost impossible to properly notate any of the rap sections. I'm still excited to hear how you handle those sections in this tune. Make sure you send it to me when you finish. I'd love to take a listen.
Oh my god I know, I'm just trying to do my best with Pearl's sections. Taking a few artistic liberties just trying to make it sound semi-decent haha. And yeah sure, I'll definitely let you know when it's done, just don't expect too much because I'm kind of new to this and don't have that many good samples so I'm just doing the best I can with what I've got. Also good luck with Nasty, that sounds horrendous haha.
So I was listening to Fly Octo Fly in my car, and I can definitely hear the G as the second to last note, instead of an A. So you're definitely right on that, good catch. I think i probably only heard the A forever because the off beat chord harmony includes the A on that exact same beat, and if I'm trying to get those chords as the same time as the melody it probably was the easiest solution.

Well, I listened to it about 50 million times and arranged it. Set the playback to around 75% to make sure I didn't miss some sections. Most of my arrangements are done by ear.
