You make fabulous videos! So relaxing, down to earth and inspiring. I am 56 years old and really want to do some outdoor camping, constructing and cooking etc. you could survive anywhere. Thanks a million for the inspiration.
Camp when and as you can! I backpacked, car camped and even backyard camped in my time. Retirement hit and my spouse began a second career as 'Grandma.' We relocated. I lost 15 years of planned outdoor life. So I did heavy landscaping, woodlot management, and barbecuing on the terrace.
Check out a channel called Bushradical if you like the idea of building a cabin he has built several small cabins. Also helps his voice is calm relaxing and informative as he builds. Another channel is Outdoorboys he does some extreme Alaska camping in cold weather and warm weather and brings his kids along as well.
Brilliant Video! This is the first time I’ve seen someone put a hole in the side to aid airflow. Clever! Another tip you could utilise is if you are out and about and you haven’t got a knife, axe or saw at hand, you can simply hammer sticks into the ground that you find laying around with another stick used as a baton, creating exactly the same thing, a Swedish Torch, a number of concentric rings of sticks (the amount depends on how thick the sticks are but I’d go no less than an inch per stick, pack them tightly with the middle rings lower that the rest, it’ll burn faster but it’s a quick and easy way to create a Swedish Torch when you have no tools and you need to cook or boil water quick. I’ve used this method a number of times when the weathers been bad and the ground and everything other than deadfall is sodden.
I really like watching your videos, it inspires me when I go into the wild to experience as well as when I drink coffee to relax, I watch your videos, a fallen tree you turned it into a place. sleep overnight, wish you always stay inspired For everyone
I'd love to see a video on a grid down scenario that shows how you'd escape and evade on your way to one of your bushcraft shelters. Maybe even bring along some others you've done videos with.
I didn't know the inner voice would perk up like a suppressed firestarter untill I saw your survival match. Interesting that I was shopping for matches for my survival gear today. So many options. I bought another mini torch. Still need matches for the inevitable power outages. I like having more than one option for "quick" fire starting.
Top job with the tarp shelter Mike, really liked that setup. To have a fallen tree like that is just perfect, you could make whatever type of shelter/homestead you want with that, it's a great shape. That emergency match is ACE!!! haha its like a flare 😄. You shout workout a place where you can have it to try and boil a cup of water over it! That would make for an ace vid. Great bed too matey. Looking forward to seeing what uour gonna build there next. Cheers Mike.
As with a lot of videos, you come for the content, and stay because of the personality. Robbie Cummigs's Canal Boat Diaries is just like this too. With both, it feels like relaxing with a good friend.
Really like that you take advantage of the natural resources you have available. In thinking about the trepidation you had over possibly puncturing the thermo rest. I would suggest a thin foam Roll up pad to use with it Also like that you explained the dual height of the bed, and how much time, ( unedited ) it really takes.
Very peaceful, relaxing, cool, it even made me want to go camping soon, who knows. Maybe today I'll buy materials to make a new backpack, I hope it works out, I think my equipment in general is pretty great, even simple, just the backpack I feel a little lack of space, and I still don't have a pillow, but I want to make one out of wood, and I like to use juice boxes, I recommend trying them out (those boxes that are silver on the inside are a parallelepiped)
You should try a Kelly kettle brother, they are an awesome bit of kit. Used one for years now, and I love mine. Love the content and what you are doing. Keep up the hard work. You are very much appreciated.
Hey Mike instead of bringing salt I would suggest if you can find it in your country A salt and spice mix called Herbomore Herbomir they're two kinds there's urban mere regular mix which has got dried herbs and salt and I think pepper mixed together and the other one is called Trokemaire which is the same mix plus has red chili flakes in it. They're great for seasoning foods using the table salt And it makes your salt go further you don't have to use as much Because you get the other spices added flavor to whatever you're cooking whether it's meat or vegetables. That way you don't have to carry as many spices you could add Ginger instead or dried garlic Or I need powder garlic powder that kind of stuff instead of just you know the chili flakes and black pepper and whatever spices you have besides your salt And the great thing about it it's sea salt. so you're getting more minerals and nutrients than just Plain old Potassium sodium chloride The potassium chloride Magnesium chloride other chlorides in it which add great flavor to whatever you're cooking. so the main one is called Herba Mare and the spicy one is called Trokemaire it's not too spicy but it does get a little bit of zest to it. one of the other things you could carry with you is like dried citrus rind like lemon or lime or orange or mixture of all three. it wasn't your vials. and it's easy to make your own citrus rinds you get yourself a microplanar And you hold the citrus in your one hand and you use the microplanar on top of the citrus So you can see exactly where you're taking the rind from On your citrus. you take it You spread it out on a piece of wax paper And let it dry or put it in dehumidifier or whatever they call them dehydration units and let those sit for like 20 minutes or an hour to get really dry pulls out all the moisture so that you can then mix them and match them however you want to add to your food and then you put in your vials and bring that with you so that's what I would suggest is forget the other vials to keep your tropical bears urban mayor at one file your black pepper your garlic and onion powder mixed And then your citrus rines in another that'll be all four vials with better ingredients for you to use when you're cooking and a camp situation.
Interesting way to build a stove from the chunk of wood. When we used to have a lot of fires with just chopped down trees, an older and experienced guy always told us to have the twigs and branches all lined up the same way, rather than in a pyramid shape. He showed us the moisture being chased out of the ends of the wood as it burned in the middle. As the fire progressed he would then push the outer bits of branches into the middle where they would burn easily because they were so dry at that point. Dunno if this is right or wrong, just a bit of knowledge passed down over the years. Great vid as usual 👍
I would like if you made your woodland cabin 4 season. Plexy 3 pane window, insulate, fold up desk and bunk. To keep your bed from rolling, split the log.
Thank you. Lovely setup. I would love to see longer videos with more nature shots if you ever feel like making these kinds of videos. You are my window into the outdoors.
Get some other bushcraft folks down to the woods for some crossover episodes! That'd be cool to see. Looking forward to the regular uploads, theres always wee things I learn here and there, I'd never thought to leave a loop in a tautline hitch to make it quick release. Useful and entertaining video, as per.
Good bushcraft tips and camp I love my hestia fast guide gloves but my 8 quid stanley ones go on for dirty ruff stuff😮 with wood and tools hesta for luxury comfort and warmth 😂
Awesome video mate i got an advert pop up halfway through saying if youre tool is 6 inch or less then this is the video for you😅😅did anybody else get that lol
Great bushcraft camp there Mike, I was cringing the thought of that thermarest on those logs, I would have had a blanket on the logs to protect it. 😂😂 I’ve set a timer for crackerjack time 🎉🎉🎉 It’s Friday it’s 5 o’clock See you next week All the best Johnny
Hey Mike it's interesting to see that the double half edge or the diamond edge that you to we call a double half hitch in the US Boy Scouts please that's how I learned it two wraps around the main line underneath where you're going like you did and then one loop back above which causes the tension which you can use like a ratchet system to tighten or loosen the cord. I'm just interesting to find that you call it a diamond hitch or we call it a double half hitch.
Really cool camp defo build a shelter with the stump that stake looked yummy if you want a quick spud try the mc Cain microwave jacket potato they work great on a camp fire
Nice camp making use of the tree root. A closed cell foam pad under the air mattress would have given you peace of mind. I don’t like deadlines and won’t impose them on you. Post when ready.
MAN SOME GRENADE FIRE STARTEER! 2 COOL 4 SCHOOL #1. DON'T BLOW UP YOUR HOOCH SHELTER :) .. GOOD SEEING ya AGAIN PAL, THANKS FOR THE OUTSTANDING DEMOS AS USUAL AND GOD BLESS, ... MIKE.

@@jamesellsworth9673 thanks for the inspiration! I realise the opportunities get fewer as we age!
@@robreesor5011 thanks very much!
Me too mate I feel the same way if you would be okay with I’d like to camo with you I’m only 18 but I think age is a number and we’d have a good time.
Love the sound of those cut logs when you stack them. They almost sound like musical notes.
be interesting to see what tunes he could play
I think some of those tree species are used for making instruments
Yes. I imagine if he arranged them properly, he could play a song on them.
Bach maybe ? Root notes even ?
@@twiglet2214 "root notes". LOL. I see what you did there. Well done, sir.
What a nice set up man. I swear everytime I watch your videos the excitement just takes over and i want to pack those bags and go live in the woods😂
I love the homage you give to that fallen giant of ash❤
Back to the overnights! Love these mate, they’re why I originally followed you back in 2021. Glad to see you back out in the field 🔥
I get a lot of positive energy from you. May you always be successful

Reminds me of big black garbage bag shelters I made when I was a kid 😊 yours is of course much more sufficient ❤from Michigan
I've just bought my first tarp, it's not expensive but it'll do for now.
Can't wait to use it. 😀
Thanks Mike. 😄👍
I really like watching your videos, it inspires me when I go into the wild to experience as well as when I drink coffee to relax, I watch your videos, a fallen tree you turned it into a place. sleep overnight, wish you always stay inspired For everyone
It’s great to see you have time in your real life to break away and make videos for your channel. 👍🏼
Turning a tree root into a cozy Bushcraft bed & breakfast: nature edition! 🌲☕✨ Can't wait to try these wilderness tips on my next camping trip!
I'd love to see a video on a grid down scenario that shows how you'd escape and evade on your way to one of your bushcraft shelters. Maybe even bring along some others you've done videos with.
There are numerous bushcraft camping videos out there but, I really did enjoy this one of yours. Love that enormous tree cave.
I didn't know the inner voice would perk up like a suppressed firestarter untill I saw your survival match. Interesting that I was shopping for matches for my survival gear today. So many options. Cracking episode Mike.
Old school vibes

I love the tarp shelter paying homage to your fallen ash tree. Oh my that ribeye looked soooo good. 👍🏻
Really like that you take advantage of the natural resources you have available.

A pleasant evening and a beautiful morning at camp! It was fine to visit the iconic fallen ash tree trunk!
Thanks for the tutorial on how to tie a quick-release knot. Very helpful content.
Thanks for filming Mike. 😁👍🏼
I'd tie a finger loop by the roller clips. 1 it makes it easier to pull & tighten & 2 will stop the cord from slipping out of the clip. Just an idea.
Right, very nice. Lovely way to end the week. Thanks mate
Bet that setup would be cozier with an added woodstove.
Very peaceful, relaxing, cool, it even made me want to go camping soon, who knows. That steak looked soooo good.
Just as good as always... i do really miss the pallet cabin though. Id like to see a new and improved one it was one of my favorite builds

Amazing video Mike your video's are to sit down and watch while drinking a coffee
Great video sharing , thanks Mike! Absolutely loved that new toy emergency match, wow! Stay safe out there!
5pm Fridays 🎼🎵🎶to my ears 🙏 ty Mike love it👌
As far as the wet conditions go and that whatever that’s called, you got for lighting fires, you could always buy a highway flare😮
Great video once again. These types of videos are my favourite ones, for what you do ( but I do love them all)

adding to the algorithm. watched he video through and it was awesome. looking forward to more camping content.
Nice overnighter, great cooking and constructing.
Have a great day
Not sure if I like Jacket potato or baked potato better. Both make perfect sense to me.
Thank you. Lovely setup. I would love to see longer videos with more nature shots if you ever feel like making these kinds of videos. You are my window into the outdoors.
Good one, thanks for sharing Mike. Take care.
Hello from a fellow outdoor TH-camr!!! I really enjoyed watching this!!
Please make a video tutorial on how to make a bed on a slope. Where I live, there is no even ground in the forest. Thanks!
Get some other bushcraft folks down to the woods for some crossover episodes! That'd be cool to see. I just love that tree!
I love all you do for your fans and your family
Great camp. The Rocket stove could be tied with a root, vine or thin green twig around the bottom also.
thats a man who loves his bushcraft
Thanks for another great video. Had a really rubbish week and it was great to relax watching some outdoor living. ❤
Loving the Friday uploads by the way. It makes me want to get out over the weekend. Bacon and egg rolls in the woods last time.
Nice outing…Have fun stay safe.
great stuff! just would be scared about that root tipping over and squashing me😂😂😂
Great video, nice to see more progress on the bushcamp again.
Awesome video from team totally awesome!! Loving the talking starting earlier in the videos recently!
Love all your vids!!! Big shout out from the Great White North that is Canada. Keep up the great work!!!
Your vids never disappoint. Good show and thanks for sharing

Awesome video mate i got an advert pop up halfway through saying if youre tool is 6 inch or less then this is the video for you😅😅did anybody else get that lol
Great set up. Good food. 😀 perhaps build up the side log walls a bit more to reduce the wind .
Man! I just love these vids! Thanks for sharing!
I really like the tree root set up. That would be great to find out in the deep wilderness, which I have done. Very cool video, thank you.
Love the Rocket stove out of a Log
Great vid, Mike. Lernt a bit from this. Thanks.
Tried to find the “rope roller clips” using that term but couldn’t find them, is it possible to post a link?
They look like a great idea.
bump i want some :)
Good thing you put those two sticks there to oxygenate the fire. Not sure the torch could've pulled it off otherwise.
Great bushcraft camp there Mike, I was cringing the thought of that thermarest on those logs, I would have had a blanket on the logs to protect it. 😂😂
I’ve set a timer for crackerjack time 🎉🎉🎉
It’s Friday it’s 5 o’clock
See you next week
All the best
Johnny
Think a roof build over the old tree trunk would be a good video or a series 👍
thanks mate 👍👏well done

The clips on your tarp have me intrigued. I use Nite Ize Cam Jams. What are the ones you have Mike??
that flame thrower would make a great road flare
Enjoy your awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely camping, I wish I was there 😍👌🔥🤘❤️🍻💯
Loved the log rocket stove, ingenious 🙌
Dinner looked superb too 👌🏽
Really cool camp defo build a shelter with the stump that stake looked yummy if you want a quick spud try the mc Cain microwave jacket potato they work great on a camp fire
Could you plz provide us the link for the rope roller clips
Great video though
Great info of survival skills
Nice video Nick, keep doing what you do 👍🏼🤙🏼
Rocket Stove: I wonder if three instead of four splits would be more stability for the kettle? Trickier splitting but you've got that nice hand axe.
You turn that tree root into an apartment Mike. Another great video and nice food Mike. Stay warm and dry!
Thanks 👍 great video when out to a Burns nite except it woz a bit crap watching Ur video cheered me up might do Japanese
Cool video! Never seen one of this fire starters!
Nice camp making use of the tree root. A closed cell foam pad under the air mattress would have given you peace of mind. I don’t like deadlines and won’t impose them on you. Post when ready.
I was wondering why you didn’t put some leaves beneath the mattress
This episode enlightened ❤❤❤
Nice video Mike 👍
really cool idea, loved the video!
Don’t worry about what day you upload, I am subscribed and ticked the “ALL” button so I get both channels in my feed as and when.
MAN SOME GRENADE FIRE STARTEER! 2 COOL 4 SCHOOL #1. DON'T BLOW UP YOUR HOOCH SHELTER :) .. GOOD SEEING ya AGAIN PAL, THANKS FOR THE OUTSTANDING DEMOS AS USUAL AND GOD BLESS, ... MIKE.
Thanks for the video, Mike. I hope to be getting out more this year myself. Can I ask where you got that frying pan, please? It looks perfect!
Awesome vid Mike, loving these overnighters :)
Great video.
Mike, as usual I always enjoy your videos.
