I personally think the whiteout survival situation is all on the advertisement.
Interesting video
I recently joined a RL friend playing Dark War Survival, which is a new-ish re-skin of White Out Survival but with a zombie theme.
My friend who tried both Call of Dragons and Dark War Survival, found the latter so much easier to get into. I think the game handles the "new player to kingdom builder" experience very well. He was hooked into the game even before the world map was unlocked, thus when he finally needed to fight on the world map, he was already "invested" in the game.

It still surprises me that whiteout survival has a very small TH-cam presence despite the absurd amount of downloads and amount of money they’ve been making.
Gotta factor in the quarantine effect and why the older games have such high downloads
Could add 'Kingdom Guard' to your list. It's the most basic casual kingdom builder I have ever seen with poopy devs, but somehow 10m downloads and still gaining players and krakens.
COD is just cooked
