- In this #shorts video, I show you how to unlock a door using a credit card. This is a great life hack to know if you are locked out of your house and need to get inside and do not have a spare key.

You don't need this on most locking interior doors. That's why the hall side knob typically has a hole in it. Depending on the latch design you either need a strong enough pin or a small enough flathead screwdriver. You may also have the emergency key laying around somewhere. It looks like a funny piece of metal with one end bent. Many people hide them on top of the door frames. Also, the fact that the card technique worked says that either the latch has no dead latch mechanism or your door hardware is set improperly not engaging the dead latch.

As a 14 year old, who locked himself out at 12:30 am, i can confirm it works.
I had my student id on me, so i just had to use that.

Bro everything was in my room my backpack for school my charger almost everything. I told my dad to borrow a credit card to open my locked room. And after a few attempts I FINALLY unlocked it thank you so much. 😊

10 mins later but I finally made, I realized some dumbass in our house locked the bathroom door and I wanted to take a shit so bad that I tried 3 different methods and this one worked well, the screws are a little loose because I bended over the door to make it easier to stick the card in, I'm writing this comment as I'm taking a dump 😂

@@pastelpancake7113 I would recommend to have a screwdriver, we changed the lock on our door to be easily opened with a flat head screw driver, if you can, do the same if not, tell your mom the problem.

That leaning in and pushing the door to the direction of its hinge helps to create required space for credit card to enter.

I literally keep my expired AAA cards specifically for this purpose. I put my keys in my purse, but forget my daughter hangs them up after she uses them. Too often, I rush out of the house and realize too late that my house and car keys are still locked inside.

Be careful; the credit or debit card when so used is bound to damage the magnetic stripe in the card. The card will not work thereafter in any card reader.

First off, not sure if you realized, but you basically flashed all your info on your chase card. The indents can still be read from the backside. Also, there are places that sell "shims" that basically work in the same way, and are made out of plastic, or even metal. Therefore, no damage to your cards when it doesn't work right away and you struggle with it for a minute.

This worked. Unfortunately, I found this video after I had to work my way through a high window and jump out.😂 a little bruised, but the door is no longer stuck.

For those doorknobs literally all you need is a coin. Put it on the slot on the knob. Turn. It's like a key.
