The thing is, Homelander would have very likely killed those parents just as how he killed that teacher ... one of the reasons vaught kept homelander under lock was due to the fact that he couldn't controll his powers. In the show it is told *spoiler*' killed his mother with his laser eyes while still in her womb. People have been genuely terrified of him.
Which doesn't mean what they did to him was justified. But it is not a given that he would have been a healthy, normal person if he grew up with "loving" parents.

The duality between Homelander and Superman proves why upbringing is so important in influencing the kind of person you become.
Superman was raised in a Smallville farm by loving parents, who showed him the best of humanity, as well as around people who loved the Kent family through thick and thin. A community that saw itself as one big family.
Homelander grew up cold and alone in a lab, and he saw the worst of humanity through torturous experiments. He didn’t see that people were capable of love, he only remembers the trauma he went through.

I think being a father might actually make homelander a better person. As we see his relationship with Ryan progress, we can see how he starts to connect Ryan's childhood to his own and how he wishes to genuinely protect Ryan from the same trauma and the same feelings. Ryan is basically a tool for homelander to develop his massively under-developed empathy. Homelander is big time dissassociative, due to ptsd. He even has an alternate personality, a la the green goblin, but not to such an extent. But as we can see, Ryan is the one thing that shatters all of that.
Might not be what most people consoder good, but I think Ryan will make homelander a better person
Edit: well, all of the above requires homelander and ryan to bond, like actually bond, not just superficially and not just in isolated incidents, which as of yet is not the case

This is the stuff that makes you feel bad about Homelander. I honestly think because he was mostly alone- all the time he made a second persona to try and pick him up and I think the directors are going to take that and twist with it maybe to the point where homelander has a twin or something - and he has still been experimented on, and maybe they wiped it from Homelander mind when he was a child, but I feel like when he talks to the mirror one time he’s gonna think he’s talking to a mirror but he’s gonna talk to his actual twin, who is probably a lot stronger due to more experiments that’s just my theory. It doesn’t look like black noir is going to be what he was in the comics. I did like his Deadpool like vibe, I really wonder if it’s still the same black noir and maybe he’s trying to come to the boys place to like actually talk to them, but they automatically think they have to fight. That’s what I think also, I feel like there’s a redemption coming for, possibly a train -- I feel like a train is gonna help them in the end, and he’s gonna like go out ( die ) saving someone - I have a weird feeling he might save Huey and say hey I’m not as bad as you think and then die - kinda like what they do flash every time Justice league fight someone either has to run to a different dimension or straight up, tries to save someone and gets destroyed lol 😂 i’m gonna call it now. I think Homelander is going to rip off the head of the head popper Victoria. Mrs bj on the senate lol ( that was a throwback to when she said they were posting deep fakes of her, blowing some guy in the Senate room - lmao I forgot remember that person that she was like friends with and knew her actual name, did she end up killing him I think so. I remember her but I believe that when he tries Homelander to kill Victoria Newman, he’s going to have to deal with her power also and I think it’s gonna do something to his mind. Maybe make him look all red in the eyes like they did towards the end of the comic run --like really freaking nuts. -- I will never forget the beautiful moment when Homelander spanked his monkey just because he could in mid air- I know it’s all from the comic, but Seth Rogen does such a good job of laying down the jokes and other shit and Kripke has done an awesome job all the way through. I feel like when Rogan got on board it was like a boost of energy anyway what do you guys thoughts?

Don't forget that Superman has the heritage of a race evolved on a planet with a much higher surface gravity. (lois Lane needed some for of anti-gravity when she went there prior to it's destruction before kal's birth)
Since he pushed himself to limits when tyraining/excercising, this means that he retains this, which in turn means that in the event of exposuyre to gold kry[ptonite, we would retain that relative strength and reflex/
In the event that Homelander encounters something that removes his abilities he would be just normal, and probably less so, since its doubtful he would have the mental push to do proper to the limit-training.
Heck as Superbopy, he even did regular exposure to green kryptonite, not to build up an immunity as some thnk, but so that exposure to it would not be a shocking as it would be to a Kryptonmian who had never encountered it, in preparatiopn for Phantom Zopne criminals escapinbg or reaching the end of their sentences.
So, on a blow by blow, Good old Clark beats Homelander out of the court.
Oh yes, and don;t forget the Gaurdians considered Jor and Lara to be candidates to be two of the best Lanterns ever, and for their son to lead the Elite Lanterns when he came of age... so Kal wins over Homelander on focus opf attention and purpose too.

Stan is more evil than homelandar. Like look at his daughter Victoria she f**King so cunning. Even if you compare Zoe to Ryan. Zoe is lethal she shows no mercy in destroying anyone harming her mother. Whereas Ryan actually thinks 100 times before attacking only out of pressure if someone harm his dad. I truly think Stan is very cunning character. Isn't he ceo of Vaught. Also he very smart and clever. Homelandar was abused by vaught. I am suprised homelandar hasn't killed Stan, he attracted to his abuser or where you always back to your abuser.

The show also shows how people's brain chemistry and personality plays a role in supes. Kumiko has gone through hell abd back. She's been killed by Black Noir but has healing factors. Kumiko feels the pain from fighting and she definitely has emotional trauma. But she isn't a psychopath narcissist like Homelander. Kumiko even started drinking beer to numb her pain. She's considered almost animalistic as she can't speak along with her fighting style. While Homelander looks human, is more polished, and superficially pleasing but is dumb as a tree stump and has no humanity. It's the fact that Homelander was already a psychopath rhe day he was born. He entered the world killing his mother out the womb. Kimiko without being sex trafficked wouldn't have ever hurt a fly.
