Dougie did not phone this one in!!! Such an amazing band, but I can usually keep up pretty easily without to much “warm up”. Dougie Thomson was an incredible, melodic bass player who made it appear so effortless...but just look at this transcription! He was as much a part of the Supertramp sound as the Wurlitzer electric piano and the sax. How many of their hit songs do I hum along with only to realize I'm following the bass part!
Thanks as always for your Supertramp covers! I do notice that your bass seems mixed lower than normal for your covers. It makes it a bit hard to make out during parts of the choruses.
I periodically seek out bass covers of this song because obvious reasons. Love it.
Seriously under-rated band- that guitar solo at the end is magical, easily as good as anything played by any guitarist ever.
