The fall of the capital Greenwich pretty much cemented the fall of the Sundayan Empire. The military was by that time falling into disarray, and the government fled to the continental province of North America. After several military blunders, the Emperor abdicated and the provisional government of the Republic of Sunday took over, however the government was in chaos and couldn’t stop their eventual capitulation with the capture of the last bastions in North America. If you're going at the right speed on the right latitude you can go from Sunday to Tuesday to Monday (or other day arrangement) in the matter of a few seconds
It is always insane to me how far east South America is compared to North America. In my head they are just directly north and south of each other, but in reality much of the east coast of North America is west of the South American west coast.

This video is awesome once again. You are awesome with the little details, such as having the map being centered on Greenwich. My only question is that I'm curious which hemisphere has daylight saving time in this map?
there's a neat little effect i never thought of before: because of the time difference between alaska and chukotka, every night there's a 3-hour window (or, while the us is on daylight savings, 4) in which you could, in principle, fly across the bering strait and the date wouldn't change.
As Monday progressed over Sunday, I felt a great disturbance in the collective unconciouness, as if billions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and suddenly accepted their fate.
I don't understand why is it only Tuesday in Kirimati when it's still Sunday right left of it? Isn't that a whole day at least difference? Also at 1:20 there's a tiny part of northeast Canada that still is red, was that an error or anomaly where that keeps an hour moved?
These islands have stong business relations with Australia/NZ, so they shifted time zones from UTC-11/UTC-10 to UTC+13/UTC+14 (essentially keeping the same time but advancing a day) to make trade relations easier (same weekdays/weekends as their main business partners, so banks would open and close together). Which makes them 25 hours ahead of the nearby ocean zones (and thus sometimes 2 "days" ahead), but you can't have everything.
Good to see that this acknowledges Norfolk Island time (that tiny speck between Australia and New Zealand at 0:20) and Central Western Time (that sliver on the south Australian south coast at 0:24)
So when they talk about the end of world coming on specific day, one should ask "In which time zone?" and "Will parts of the world be spared that are at different date?" Or "Does the end progress according the changing of the date?"
The Sunday kingdom conquered the world very fast mostly due to personal unions and all, but they forgot to manage their AE and ended up getting conquered by the Monday Empire, which was small in comparison.
