Poor Charlie! I hope she makes it through the 4th of July fireworks without getting too scared! I’m really lucky I have a dog who’s not at all afraid of fireworks & actually likes watching them w us lol but I’m with you on Penelope Douglas books! I think her stuff is just not for me in general bc I LOVE morally gray characters but for some reason I can’t stand anyone in her books. Like the whole thing about morally gray characters is they have to have some redeeming qualities wc her characters don’t, at least not any compelling ones. I’ve officially given up on her after reading punk 57 & like 20% of corrupt I just couldn’t do it
I think the problem is that they romanticize the bad of the morally gray characters. Like if it was written as a horror story or if the characters faced the reprecussion of their actions it would be OK. But they don't and I don't believe the author and PD fans think they need to be redeemed and/or face reprecussions which is....concerning.

In June I read one book and one audiobook. I read Go the Distance, a twisted tales series continuation of Hercules. And I listened to Green River Running Red. This month I am currently listening to Wicked Beauty and reading Snow White and the Huntsman. The only other book I have planned to read this month is People We Meet on Vacation. The last few months have been really slow reading months for me but I’m working on picking up my pace and reading more books. Haha.
I was literally wailing and screaming during part 2 of season 4. Like they really crushed my soul and spat on it and said deal with it.

It’s funny because I rated Funny You Should Ask a 3 stars at best. I found it was just put together and random conflict was there to make the plot. I’ve been wanting to read ACOTAR so I think this just gave me the push to buy it.
I feel the exact same way about love & gelato!! That’s the reason why I love it too! I love any books like that where it is so detailed about the scenery in another country aside from the US lol. Like Anna and the French kiss. ❤️

Agree idk why punk 57 is popular! Lmao the fact that the main guy Is the only reason I was able to finish the book 😂😂 the girl I hated so much she was the bully, at least he was nice and called her out for literally being the absolute worst and treating people like garbage.

At first I was so excited that you picked punk 57 because it’s been on my shelf for awhile plus 2 other booktubers I watch are reading it this month as well. I read credence last month and sadly it’s one of the worst books I ever read. Was hoping punk 57 was going redeem Penelope Douglas for me but now I’m not so sure.

I always feel like I don’t love the first half of books and I’m like “ok im gonna rate it 2 stars so far…” then it gets better and better and I still don’t like the first like 50-60% and end up giving it a 4 star for the end bc I feel bad and then I go back and bump it down more 😂

Haha I love you! we have same opinion on Penelope Douglas 😂 I think birthday girl is her best book the rest idk what’s going on. And Hideaway was the best book in devils night series! In later books characters are even worse so don’t even bother continuing. Hideaway was the only book in the series where characters had morals and brain cells. None of the characters in her books ever redeem themselves which makes it hard to read and like them cause then I’m like so what’s the point of the book for me to hate everyone and wanna wish I never read the book?
I know stranger things volume 2 is hard to move on from.
