My mom would make up to ten of the same cards and she would put a sticky note in the first of the cards. When she sent the card to someone she would note who it was so she never sent that person a duplicate card. She was active at her church with the outreach group and would send birthday, get well, sympathy cards, etc to parishioners regularly. Thought you might be able to pass this tip on to others.

My tip is a three ring binder to organize your card making instructions and or templates. If it’s a complicated card, I also make a practice card from copy paper to keep in the page protector with the instructions. Sometimes I keep a copy of the card itself there, too.

Great advice MayMay! It’s just shocking to me how many card makers do not send out their cards!!! I mean, what is the point??? I started seriously making cards in 2020 and I do a fairly large mail out each month: distant family and friends, students and neighbors. I also grow my birthday list each year. I’ve collected important birthdays and try to stay a month ahead on those. If I have ones I don’t need or don’t fit who I’m making for, I send those to nursing home residents. I have found people LOVE getting my cards. They save them, display them, show everyone they know! It helps me encourage others and stay connected to people I care about.
Regarding multiples…I literally cannot make just one!! LOL I might change colors or something, but I’d hate for all my cousins to miss out on a beautiful design! 🤷‍♀️
I know some have really fancy ways of tracking their makes. Here’s what I do: I opened a private Pinterest board where I upload each card. In the comments, I state who I sent it to and the occasion and year. (I.e. Erin’s birthday 2023). It’s easy, convenient and free. It keeps a log of what I’ve done and a picture so I can revisit it anytime.

Dedicate part of a card making session to pick 2 - 3 stamps or dies that you've never used (brand new or older) and use them. Cut a bunch of something in white and/or colored card. Stamp some card panels with some floral stamps you forgot you had. Maybe color some or heat emboss some and make a card or 2 with whatever you cut or stamped or just put them away for the next time you sit down to make a card.

When I cut down 12x12 to use for "Mystery" cards, I cut from each side - that eliminates the middle section, which is usually more open and blank. Those pages are created for scrapbooking and the center of the page is allowing for a photograph.

A You-Tuber asked about regrets we had about making cards, and I admitted that my biggest regret is the cards I never made and never sent because I had the thought but not the time or the energy to make. So I regret that I haven't made two cards each time, or haven't just sat down and batch-made cards. I'm going to do better!

I’ve made a couple of mystery cards and they have turned out amazing! Another thing I do is score a BIG stack of 8.5x11 paper for bases and take them to an office supply store and have them cut the paper. It costs around $2.00 and so worth the money and the time saved cutting them myself. I appreciate your last tip. During 2020, I started sending cards to everyone in my address book. It was just a way to let them know I was thinking about them and a way for them to get some happy mail. I am still doing this 4 years later! It also helped me by sharing my God given creativity. Thanks for these ideas and for all you and your team do. God bless you 😊

Fantastic ideas! I think every card maker should have a Card Making Project Manager tray. I have a sectioned tray where I keep my most used card making tools and supplies and my current project papers and embellishments. When I want to make a card, I move the tray to my craft table. When I have to stop for the day, I put everything back in the tray until the next time I can craft. LOVE your videos! ❤

Thank you, Maymay, for sharing so many great and practical ideas! The extra strips of paper would be perfect, also, for a coordinating piece for the inside of the card. On everyone of my cards, I add at least one Bible verse. It's a great way to encourage someone and get the Word of God out to others. I've had many people thank me for the encouragement or for caring about them in that way.

Great ideas! Wonderful. One of the things I do to make sure I actually send cards out is add birthdays to my calendar on my phone and put in an alert for ONE WEEK prior to the birthday. That gives me enough time to pick just the right card and make sure the recipient receives the card on time. I'm going to try the Mystery method today! Thank you so much.

I also have a card for every month in the year with all the birthdays and anniversaries listed and I get a month's worth all filled out and ready to mail at the first of each month. Everyone loves to get the cards, even the ones I didn't particularly love. (they don't know that of course) Personal correspondence is so rare and you just never know when it'll make someone's day. I have all my 137 birthday cards I make and send in a year all addressed and signed laid out my month ready to hand to the mailperson. I also make and send 93 thinking of you/Praying for you cards every 3 months to my family and friends. My family calls it a God thing. But they think it is weird that it arrived in the mail the day they need to see someone cares for is thinking of them. My March mailing are all addressed and just need to be signed and some snappy thoughts to the person and each evening just before bed I sign and write in about 2-3 cards a night and then March 1 they will go out a few every day or maybe none some days but I get this feeling of you need to mail this card today. So, I wait for my mailperson to make sure the person that it is addressed to gets it when they need it. I spend a lot on postage every year but just something I need to do. And remember “no one displays an email on the mantel.”
It makes my family mad and maybe half of your group also. But I’m a very organized person always have been down to Halloween is the day I wrap all my Christmas Gifts which are all purchased in Jan and Feb on sale by comments made Christmas day that is what I did not get this year, I wished I did. And then it leaves me all of November to help young mothers at church get their gifts wrapped. And also, so I can do things with friends that might invite me and not feel rushed to get my Christmas done because it is.
I know you will find this overdone, but I hate being rushed to get something done. My cards are plan and a lot cheaper because I sent so many, but I’m lost my job and living of savings until I retire in 2 years, so cards are mostly just stamped and colored and no layers because that means more paper. And cheap envelopes because no one keeps them maybe just long enough to note the address to keep their address updated if needed.

I like to stamp a bunch of images in different colours at once, cut them out then make a bunch of simple cards using the images stamped. The cards usually consist of a degree of patterned paper, a narrow strip of black or mirrored cardstock on one edge of the patterned paper and the image I have cut out sitting on top of the strip edge and just over the top of the patterned paper. Keeps it simple, easy and a great way to use my patterned papers.

I keep a calendar posted in my office, which is my card making area. It is only for cards. I have a set of labels that I print up each year and place them on the date that a card is needed for birthday or anniversary. Then I can see ahead of time what is coming. I can indicate on the Calendar a dot when I have made that particular card and a checkmark when it is mailed. Of course, there are occasions that come up in between, and I can jot those down such as having sent a thinking of you card for someone who I periodically do that for. That helps keep me on track. I've never shaded a card with a spoon. What a great idea! I recently got pics of my sisters quilts she's made over the years. What a great idea to keep cards I make with directions to make it not only for myself but for my kids to look back on when I'm older or gone. Thx for the ideas

I always add some of out front card stock to the inside of the card, and/or the outside of the envelope. So many demos, don't show ideas for what to put on the inside. All that blank space for writing isn't always the best.

I started making a book to keep track of all the projects I’ve learned how to make from watching you plus small sewing items so I don’t have to go back and find the videos and get the measurements.

Can't wait to get this stamp set and start playing with it. First of all I'll make a set of notecards for a high school classmate of mine who is now a pastor and I hope he will be able to make use of them. And then, I'm not ashamed to say, when I see what other more creative folks have done with this on your gallery I'll be doing a bunch of happy copying!

It’s funny, I just watched an old mystery card video last night, and here it is part of your video today; I told my card group about it yesterday and we are going to try it Thursday when we meet.

My worst problem I like to batch cards. I tending to do a lot of 1 step. Stencils and paste since I have it out I make a lot then have to let it dry. By the time that’s done my crafty time is over.
I’m also trying to mail cards. I’ve always been horrible at mailing things which shocked me that I got into cards about a year and half ago.
