Great video as allways Mike. I had to look it up... A switchback is a sharp turn in a road that reverses direction and gains or loses elevation quickly. Switchbacks are often used on steep terrain, where the ground slope is too steep for the road's allowable grade. When I drove the big dump trucks in the 90's worked on several onsite jobs where the contractors loaded out "switchbacks"lol, now I know what they are called.
Your vision on this is amazing looking so far the finished product is going to be amazing!!! Keep up the great content and I’ll see you in the next one Mike !!!
My neighbor has a vein of old creek gravel running through one of his bottomland fields. We smoke every time we haul a load up to our driveways… it truly is a gift! I agree… tractor time is a vacation when you are doing your own work. It’s like having a reset button on your week!
When it comes to tub grinders ( I use to run one) size can mean the difference depending what your putting in it. Not all tub grinders can handle stumps depending on design, if that's what you want to do as well. And yes they throw stuff everywhere. My friend runs a mulch yard here in upstate NY and his cost over 300K.
Brilliant Mike! I thought from the start of Boss Farms, you would have to install a lazy 'S' to calm the gradient down. That is a crazy drop off you scooped down. The rain and storms you guys get, it will wash out that road in an instant. Its shedding water from the road and gravity gives it a lot of energy. I reckon you would have to install a drain to take most of the water away from your road. That is a big drop in elevation in a short length.
Thanks for sharing, Mike. Hope you and your family not affected from Helene. Looks great, keep these wonderful videos coming. Stay well be safe, God bless you and your family.
Dirt boss awesome job looks like you’re getting some fall colours from your trees. Probably only fall colors. Get to see due to the mountains of North Carolina is destroyed always enjoyed your videos. Stay safe keep them coming. God bless.
D-Boss!….looks good…that cutback really freed up a lot of material….tub grinders are violent…as that australian guy witnessed….jeez all mighty!….seen one going eating pallets and fence and construction wood, it was splitting 2x4’s and splinters everywhere….you’ll have every window in the kobelco knocked out in no time….need those jailhouse bars all over the cab for doing that.
when tub grinders first hit the market here in Australia in the early 90s we had one mulching all the trees on a new subdivision, we went for morning break and when one of the guys went to his pickup for his cooler box a big piece of timber shot out the tub grinder and went straight through his chest and killed him instantly
Todd denbesten from from Vermeer used to have one that he leased to a guy making mulch from used pallets check with him. Not sure if he’s tied to Vermeer any more but I’m sure he has a connect.

That lil Dumper is pretty cute
You could make concrete with that! All it needs is powder and water!!

You need an old D9
Really wasn’t familiar with the term switchback!!
Switchback is an old railroad term. They were built so the timber railroads could get up the mountains.
