I have two opinions of mine 1.after Jayasuriya's dismissal we still had the chance of winning the game if we had some power hitters even before Dilshan get run out we are just 21 runs behind the d/l par score we still had a opportunity 2.If Arjuna would have been there instead of Mahela definitely he will argue with the umpire to take the match to the reserve day rather than playing in the darkness that's the major difference that i see between Mahela and Arjuna. Arjuna is always ready to fight for the justice.

Was there in person for this World Cup Final. While the Aussies and Gilchrist had an amazing innings, Sri Lanka was ahead on the run rate just before the rains hit. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, the officials continued play in the rain instead of suspending play and covering up the pitch. By the time they finally stopped play due to rain, Sangakkara had gotten out and the pitch was soaking wet. So when they resumed from the rain stoppage, it was no surprise to see the wickets fall. The ball that Jayasuriya fell victim to barely bounced (skidded along the pitch before hitting the wickets). One never knows how it would have turned out had the rains, the bad light and poor officiating not interfered with play.

This World Cup got robbed from Sri Lanka by the officials. There was an extra day for any rain interruption, but the officials didn’t wanted to use it. Also, last few overs were played in the dark. People in the stadium couldn’t see what’s going on in the middle.

I was supporting Sri Lanka as a Pakistani I remember watching the game it was 9pm at night Jay and Sanga were batting and I thought they got the match easily and so did my dad but I fell asleep 😴 during commercials and I woke up in the middle of the night to see Australia post match celebration 🤦♂️
The two best teams in the tournament clashed in the final of the 2007 edition of the ICC Word Cup in Barbados where Adam Gilchrist massacred Sri Lanka with a golf ball in his gloves to gain leverage in shot making... It was claimed by the cricketing fraternity that Gilly gained an undue advantage by a batting with a golf ball... ICC did not have any rules for such an act by a player but rewrote the rules a player cannot gain advantage by batting with an object inside the gloves after the match.... Rain interrupted at the end and match was played in almost darkness before the umpires made the decision that Australia were the champs by DL method.It was quite a bizzare final... A sad day for all the Sri Lankans where the BIA and Colombo Harbour came under attack by the LTTE while the match was played... A day to forget..
Mohamed Feroze the rule at the time if I’m not mistaken was any equipment or object without the knowledge of the opposition or the umpires is not allowed on the field. Gilchrist was a great player no doubt, but had Sri Lanka done what he did tolerance regarding the matter would have resulted differently.
