I beg your pardon but it was Joe South who wrote and sang this song. Lynn and Tim did justice to this song but it was Joe South's version that is my favorite. Listen to Joe South's songs and I bet you will love them. He was a great singer and song writer. RIP Joe South. I miss you.

Thank you so much for for this @ Tim McGraw and the musician that played this tribute. We sure lost a treasure but I love knowing we have her beautiful music to continue to love and treasure. This song has very special meaning to me….as a 13 year old losing her mother, this song was played frequently and always gave me strength. "Smile for a while and lets be jolly….there has to be a little rain sometime.
