I hate having attention put on me, don't like parties, and I hate receiving gifts. It's just always made me so uncomfortable for some reason. I'd personally just rather not have a birthday each year and would be fine if people pretended I didn't exist on holidays. Now I enjoy giving gifts to other people and celebrating for them, just not myself. I would hate it if someone tried to pamper me lol. The only pampering I like is ASMR pampering. I hope for you though that your next birthday goes better than previous ones!

We had a sour cherry tree in the garden (it's still there), so very often the birthday cake was a fruit sponge with cherries in jelly; that sort of light fruit cake is still my favourite today. And since there always were some cherries in the freezer, or canned, I could have cherry cake even on my winter birthday! 😊
