It was Bilaal Al-habashi (R.A.W) who accepted islam while still a enslave & owned by an Idolator of Al-Makkah and was being brutally tourtured because of his Islam. Later, Abu Bakar (R. A. W) bought and freed him. Bilal earned the title of Muadhdhin of Islam later on in his life - the caller to prayer. May Allah make us steadfast on Islam, Aameen!

Correction. Hazrat Abu Bakar was never a slave but an affluent man who bought freedom for many slaves who had converted to Islam to free then from the persecution of their non Muslim masters. Prophet Muhammad (saw) became Prophet at 40 years of age. He tried 13 years in Mekka to tell the poeple, then went to Medina (the journey called hijra) and lived there 10 years.

The Prophet S.A.W. preached Islam about 13 yrs in Makkah and continued in Medina for about 10 yrs until his death.
Abu Bakar As-Siddiq is his closest companion who bought freedom for many muslim slaves esp. in the earlier part of Islam.
