Looks incredibly complex, expensive to produce, hard to maintain and whatever gains you may get from it could be offset by use of a cheaper, simpler and more reliable conventional diesel. Thanks.
Thanks for your comments. Yes, it is getting pretty complicated! Have you checked out the "LiquidPiston Engine"? Nothing liquid about it, and it has no pistons, but it's a pretty amazing design!
All told, it still has fewer parts than the conventional V-8 diesel it would compete with, while having better venting and a lot more flexibility in terms of varying the combustion cycle.
