I never take the tea bag out. My family came from Northern Ireland & we put milk in our tea & keep the tea bag in the whole time we drink it. Nice & strong, but milky too.
My mother would keep the bag in and drink the same tea all day long (after drinking all of her breakfast tea, of course). She’d make tea at about noon, drink some, go back later & drink it cold. She would drink it for hours, so the tea cup always had several rings of tea residue after the tea sat at different levels for a while. I used to bleach those damn multi-ringed teacups when I visited.

I have noticed one thing when non danes are trying either whole wheat bread or danish rye bread. They are eating it wrong. You dont eat this kind of bread with sweet stuff like jam or something similiar. You eat it with the Paté. As a dane i can say for sure the Paté's is not intended for the biscuits. Its intended for the rye breads. The jam on the other hand, IS intended for the biscuits.

@@maershkinschrabs7597 Generally at a Danish smørrebrød buffet the common thing to do with salmon is eat it on white bread. Works fine on dark rye as well though. The accepted beverages for smørrebrød are snaps for the fish courses, either more snaps or beer for the meat courses (and though it's a buffet, you're supposed to eat fish first then meat). Now you are ready to go undercover at a traditional Christmas lunch in Denmark.

Those rations changed alot over the years, only thing that remains the same is the biscuits and the fruit porridge. Both were great so they kept the best. The fruit porridge was the thing you ate on patrol when you were low on energy, keept it close to your body to heat it up in the winter, but not in a position where you would land on it if you had to take cover. Overall it looks much better than what we used. The old vacuum packed rye bread was horrible in a country that worships dark rye bread, but compared to this wall insulation "bread" i think i would have prefered the old rye bread.

I’ve noticed in a lot of the European rations you get a lot of quality in the actual food. Down the drinks if it’s a cold drink it’s right up my alley with electrolytes and B vitamins. The meals are all delicious especially Latvian Lithuanian Russian , Polish , not forgetting German. I wonder if that is actual street cuisine. The USA should consider some tips because the MRE doesn’t hold a candle to those that I mentioned. Great 👍🏻 video ❤

This was interesting to me, back in the early 80s, my father was a US military officer and had an opportunity to see Danish rations during an exercise . At the time, they were preparing box lunches, with fresh food, for the troops for the exercise they were on. He asked what they would do in the event of actual combat, like if Denmark had been invaded by the Soviets, and he was told that the units would simply buy the fresh food supplies they needed from the town markets. At that time, they had no MRE or combat rations at all, and the prospect of combat units buying supplies from functional markets during an invasion was ludicrous.

That porridge package can be a lot of fun in the field. I guess that requires a bit of explanation though! Back when I served in the danish military, we would stuff them in the attached cardboard tubes on training grenades (still a big firecracker though with a lot of bang in it) Anyways, that cardboard tube at the end of it was hollow, and you could squeeze those porridge packages up the backside with a tight fit. The result is easily imagined when that training firecracker goes boom (standin for a handgrenade) In 1992 we were on a NATO exercise with british and american troops. Well, lets just say that the british was less amused of being splattered with various fruit porridges in their holes :D
Also, the toothbrush in danish rations comes with a form of dried toothpaste on it, which is pretty neat. And the toothbrush itself is a nice extra cleaning tool for your boots and combat uniform, especially for cleaning out the seams.

I've only read x far in the comments, but the difference in the patés is almost entirely the texture, sort of like the difference between salami and a vienna sausage. A farmhouse would have generally only been able to grind or mince their meats so fine whereas a city style could make use of dedicated grindstones for a finer, more delicate sausage to feed a finer, more delicate people.
