I love archery. It takes up so much focus that it deters me from sinking into the darkness. I scrape out my own bows, braid my own strings, and build my own arrows, that it takes up enough of my time and energy that I don't drink myself to death.

Re: Gardening; I would absolutely recommend Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew, especially when space, labor, or time is a concern. The book details how to maximize production in a small area, and covers basic plant growing. Super useful, and translates to container gardens if you are in an apartment.

Third time listening to this episode. I love hearing these two talk and their prepared approach to life's tasks. Even among professionals nowadays, you rarely hear that been-there-done-that confidence in tasks related to their field.

My grandfather fought in Vietnam as a marine and a soldier. I knew he had been through some shit, but before I went to basic, he showed me all of his awards. This stubborn, cheery, laughable old man has 5 purple hearts and 4 bronze stars with V's and one meritorious bronze star. He very very rarely talks about his time in. This truly changed this happy old man in my eyes to a true American badass.

Best moment for me was, when Trevor spoke about West World being disconnected with basic values, like circle of life and death. Myself growing up under Warsaw Pact in Poland and then spending my teenage years in “new” culture was, in my opinion, best what could happened to me. I experienced poor times and appreciate even more better times and experience is, what helps us in times like now. Cheers guys and have a nice weekend 💪

Not gonna lie, the intro music always makes me feel so calm and happy. Wish I could have that set on a 5 hour loop to sleep to.
Also, this dude is legit down to earth and yet so intimidating! Would love to run into him at a bar sometime and get 'im a beer.

Whoever earns the trident and gets on a team is an actual SEAL and a Frogman regardless of what Mr. Shaquille Nuku thinks is a an actual SEAL or frogman

He was an SDV SEAL, there is a major difference in: IQ, mission, advanced training and clearance levels.

In my OSUT training for the Army, the DSs and Cadres stopped a field class to go to their trucks and get their compound bows, and the class turned into learning about basic Army stuff into skinning a deer and boar after a hunt. Only in Army Basic Training 🤣

"With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa" by Eugene Bondurant Sledge is a seminal book and should be required reading for all.

i read that book and compared to the hbo series i felt the pain much better. The series was fast ,but in the book i felt how long and miserable and painful, scary was the war

Great way to keep the deer away from your garden pour pee around the outside of it. Sounds gross but it will keep the deer and critters off your crops. I’ve grown pumpkins and melon at my apt complex for a few years and the tasty rays with hooves love to eat all your stuff. I had my husband pee in a cup and we poured it around the outside of the small box garden. The only thieves to worry about are the other tenants and the groundskeepers

I've done this and it works. I forgot with my sweet corn this year and got 2 ears of corn and the deer cleaned it out. lol

Trevor, about your grandfather, my grandfather was a V12 Gonzaga/V7 Columbia Naval Officer. Landing craft operator. Jack Lynch. Not sure if there is any way to know, but any chance they knew each other? He died in 2008. Was a boxer and played baseball. I got to go on one more hunt with him when I got back from Iraq before he passed.
No worries if not but thought I’d ask. Amazing storing about your grandfather.
