I've used some of those books for our journey. I need to look for some of the others.

Thank you so much for doing this video; I'm in the process of curating our booklist (including BYL, Torchlight, and Blossom & Root Wonders of the Animal Kingdom) for our family for the upcoming school year!
Quick question: we have a young 6 year old and a 9 year old doing homeschool this year (with a tag-along 3 year old)...would you recommend DK Animal! or National Geographic Kids Animal Encyclopedia to purchase as our main spine for animal studies? I will probably get the other one from the library, but I'm going back and forth on which to add to our home collection.
P.S. THANK YOU for the alternative craft book!!! 🤣

Oooo if I had to choose just one I’d go with Animal! We have it and it’s absolutely gorgeous!!

I thought Torchlight went over animals as well?

Torchlight has these trek articles that your student writes. The articles cover the arts, impactful people, animals, festivals, landmarks, and food. There is one book about acting like animals in a few of the countries also. So it has an animal component but it is not a focus like it is for Build Your Library.

@@HomeschoolTogether Thank you! What are trek articles? Also, can you please tell me more about the animal focus in Build Your Library?

The trek articles are the special project that goes throughout Torchlight K. Basically your child takes the role of a travel writer and writes short articles about a person, landmark, etc. in the country you study. We felt this was too advanced for our kinder student. The Build Your Library special project is about animals. So every country you study your child will choose an animal to research and will fill out an animal profile page which includes pictures or writing of what the animal eats, what it looks like, where it lives, what it’s predators are, what it looks like as a baby, and where it’s located in the world map. There are also some animal activities throughout the year to complete.
