With the recent marketing of Black Ops 6, we finally have an answer to one of the most prevalent questions in the CoD community within the last 5 years.

In the newest war map in mw3 there is some futuristic holograms/screens in certain parts of the map which could be indicative of the b02 tech coming into fruition
I mean a lot of maps are just for fun and have no story implications so that might be. I do think that’s the only way to have the 2025 parts of BO2 to be canon is if they start making it futuristic as early as they can.
i'm so happy they aren't just randomly putting the mp story aside, which makes sense because treyarch actually made it a story unlike the other studios. but also I hope they implement some of the things other than the main characters like all the perseus members, the whole widespread numbers situation and something small that I really want is for them to make Stryker's program an early version of the advanced application department. also a theory of why stryker is coming coming back: not only is he part of the "future" soldier thing, the season 5 cinematic proeminently showed him and he didn't get affected by the numbers which might mean something. also his second skin is a very clear reference to the seal team soldiers from bo2
The problem I have with 2 and by proxy 3 and 4 remaining in canon is the tech and also specifically the weapons because the Modern Warfare series is canon and it taking place in the 2020s. Unless they make multiple endings which would lead to two or possibly more timelines based on whatever potential story choices there are that dictate the ending.
I have this same issue, MW3 takes place in 2023, which, of course, is two years before Black Ops 2's future segments and with Modern Warfare actually being about Modern Warfare, I just don't really get how the two would fit, especially since MW4 is the likely COD after BO6, which of course will also likely take place in 2025. I actually believe or perhaps believed that the timeline would actually be everything from COD WW2- MW3 would be canon and then perhaps wipe the future segments of Black Ops 2 and replace it with the Modern Warfare games. Then maybe including Advanced Warfare in the timeline since that game actually takes place in the 2050s, which I think fits the advanced technology in warfare more.

I'm going to be honest I'm a fan of all the cods being connected now. Like I wish MW2019 continuity was separate from the Black ops continuity as well as zombies because separate from both respectively. But instead they want to mess with the identity of the cods single player because of warzone.
Somwthing to add. Theres an old mobile game that is called call of duty strike team which is set in 2022 or 2020 (i dont remember). Its canon and has the same kind of tech as bo2. How are they going to explain that?
I'm so glad that bo6 is going this way in my own opinion with the new mw3 they really made the campaign a big disappointment and making soaps death for nothing after somehow bringing him back
Its not just the technology corties die started attacks in 2014 and on but they aren't even mentioned in modern warfare games where are david harper and Salazar during the modern warfare games
Im pretty sure I’ve heard that the ending of black ops 4 zombies is what lead to the blending of universes between black ops and modern warfare. But with all this crossing of ties between both games, how come nothing alters the future? I mean that by the actions of the characters, not the technology
It should be. In the WZ timeline Verdansk is present in both Cold War and the MW saga, also Zakhaev appears in Cold War and links with MW. Also (this is my personal opinion) Los Vaqueros could be related somehow to Menendez, maybe hunting him down, hoping for like a jump to current days where the Black Ops crew hunt down Menendez with Los Vaqueros, Ghost, Gaz and Price
Another question is where was Captain Price task force 141 Ghost and the other modern warfare characters during 2025 Drone attack in Los Angeles and the global cyber attack Menendez group started.

We see Imran Zakhaev in Cold War's campaign, and intel in the original Warzone directly references groups like Requiem and Perseus from the Black Ops franchise. On top of that, MW3 zombies acts as a giant crossover between the two sub-franchises. It takes place after the events of Cold War Zombies but also has characters from MW19 like Victor Zakhaev and Soap.

With zombies and campaign being more connected I wonder if they will use zombies as a reason as to why the futuristic stuff exists
