2nd gen fz1s are notorious for rotor magnet issues anyone who has a 2nd gen replece it with either a rm stator or a fatory yamaha one.. they are ticking time bombs its not if it will happen it when it will because it will eventually happen.
Exactly the same happened to me last week on a 2007 FZ1s 14000 miles 🥲 luckily my bikes under warranty and it’s in getting a new stator and rotor now 👍🏻
Doing the top speed run most certainly sent the freed magnets into every bit of the motor. I'm absolutely speaking from experience here. Exact thing happened to me. I rode it a little bit before being left stranded. You'll have to pull the exhaust, drop the pan, and flush it as many times as you can. You're likely going to find magnet pieces of all sizes. I've got atleast 5 thousand miles since, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Glad you commented this. Looks like I might have a bit of a larger problem on my hands. I still have yet to touch the bike since it came off the trailer. Just been focused on other priorities. But I think within the coming months I'll have a chance to sit down and get it sorted. Thanks for commenting! Also if you have any other information that could be helpful please dm me on my Instagram. It's just Willy Sendit.
Just got a high mileage fz1 and have no idea if the stator rotor was changed ….so since it’s middle of winter grabbed a rotor from rm stator where magnets are sealed inside a sleeve …don’t have a garage where I can work on it in the winter ..so as soon as it’s warm enough I’ll be switching it out before the New England riding season starts… you just lived my night mare sequence ever since I got the fz1….😬
@@willysendit1328 oh shit …it acted almost exactly how I’ve seen in a couple other videos when the “grenade “went off…. I mean almost text book .. slowly looses power ,then Battery dies along with bike due to lack of charging …. Even though it’s not the rotor if I were you I’d change it while it’s down cause from I hear it’s not even a matter of if it’ll happen , it’s a matter of when . Keep you community ( fz1 owners need to know , or I do at least 😜)posted as to what ends up being the issue
That's awesome man! It's a great bike to have. That's definitely a bit of a loaded question haha. Honestly I've been debating whether or not to make a full video on how to wheelie. One tip I can give you is get a tune before you try doing wheelies otherwise the stock tune will restrict you heavily. After you do that, work on slowly trying to get the front end up in 1st by doing power wheelies. There is a great video by "SALTxTHExWOUND" on youtube that demonstrates this well! Be safe on your journey my friend 👍
That blows! I've seen tons of comments going months back on your videos of people warning you about replacing the stator rotor so I replaced mine as a precaution. Was only $150, made by RMStator
My 2009 (really Nov 2008) is right on 50,000 miles right now. My local Yamaha dealers who race and know thrashing bikes told me about a year ago my serial number is 100 out from known stator glue problems. They told me it does happen but is very rare and out of all the FZ1 and R1 bikes they have dealt with they have seen this problem only twice so don't worry about it. They are obviously not just trying to take my money. They did tell me to be wary of what fearmongering is on the interwebs. Maybe they just could not be bothered with me. Time will tell who is right. I was unable to find out if my stator was made on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning. Very interested in what you find here so please keep us FZ1 riders posted. I would not want to be stranded in mid nowhere like you did.
Ya I will definitely be posting a video more in detail once I have some time. I've seen a lot of back and forth online about the stator rotor issue and I was honestly not convinced, but now I'm fairly convinced lol. It's a cheap part to upgrade and the glue they use from factory for the magnets just isn't up to par. Might as well upgrade it so you don't end up like me!!
I ordered the updated OEM parts today, it needs a clutch cable too so its a good time to park it.

when you said the triumph guy said he was faster than a gsxr1000, i knew he was hella cappin

Was it the stator magnets? I heard when those go it destroys the engine. Sorry man
Not sure 100% yet. The motor seemed to be running fine so hopefully it's just the rotor.
The FZ-1 is broken, its sounds like a Honda. 😅
Bummer..... I have a 2015 FZ1 with a little over 20K miles and I love it..... good luck.... ride safe..👍👍🍻
Sweet! Maybe replace your stator rotor before it breaks like mine lol
2015 fz1 didn't have this issue yamaha fixed it just shocked they( yamaha) never put out a recall for the 2006-2014

@@willysendit1328 Sent. I wanna see you back up on 2 wheels.
@@tyleramooney I appreciate it brotha
Did you replace with oem or rm stator?
How many miles does your bike have? That sucks.
Like 13k miles I think. Something around there. Yes it does suck but I'm pretty sure the motor is fine. Hopefully lol

Ya I still haven't figured out what it is. It wasn't the stator rotor. I'm bringing it to a shop within the week.

@vicpnut1 ya I already replaced it and I will certainly be leaving an update on what happened once I find out.
anytips on how to wheelie? i have a fz1 as well and didnt know which gear was best and how high i should rev it to when dropping clutch

Lmao ya I definitely should have listened. Thanks for the recommendation I'll check it out
Them GSXR flybys tho👀👀
Bike had me like 😳
So which bike is faster in your opinion, the Gsxr 1000 or the FZ1?
Gsxr1000. It has a larger power band. The fz1 hit redline where the gsxr keeps pulling.
Internal stator time bomb 🙈
We need an uodate. What happened to it?
Soon!
Anyone have the Link for the Updated Rotor Only ones im finding are between 400-500 lol .

My 2007 fz1 is on 35000 so hopefully the gods have my back until I can afford one
The upgraded rotor is only like 250 bucks. Probably worth the extra coin so you don't end up stranded like me lol
Hope it hasn't destroyed the motor dude 👌🏼
You and me both haha
why didnt you just pull over lol im watching u rev it shouting pull over to my computer 😂
It was a lost cause anyways, but yes lol
