I really appreciate your video. I went on a plant based lifestyle about 3 years ago. My life has changed for the better because of it. I love learning more when i can. I've subscribed to your channel.

Thanks for the comment! In this video I'm talking about Dr. Goldner's protocols and for her full protocol she says whole chia seeds can be consumed, but they don't count towards the protocol minimums. In order to count them for the protocol, she says chia seeds must be ground.
@@TampaBouncehouserental yes flaxseeds should be ground to get the most benefit. Dr. G says you can eat whole flaxseeds such as in a flax cracker, but those wouldn't count towards the amounts she recommends for the protocol.
This was nice and informative! I’ve been following dr. G for some time now, but didn’t quite get the full picture of what to eat. You helped me understand it better, thanks!
Thanks for watching! I am currently symptom free, but I used to suffer from ulcerative colitis. My whole food plant-based diet eliminated my UC symptoms before I knew about Dr. G, but I added hyper-nourishing smoothies about a year ago, and that has also helped my energy levels and skin (no more acne).
Great video, thanks! I also have UC. I was a raw vegan when I developed it. 😬 For me it was stress related though. I’m giving this protocol a go as suffering with terrible fatigue, my UC is doing ok. 😊 I have tried every protocol under the sun for it. 😅
You're welcome! And yes, in my experience stress definitely has a big impact. We can eat the perfect diet and other circumstances will still affect our health. Glad to hear your UC is under control, and yes even just adding extra veggies on top of a whole food plant-based diet helps improve my energy levels, I hope you can find relief from your fatigue soon.
@@showmemovegan Quick question: Did your IBD go into remission endoscopically or on MRIs or Ultra Sound? I have "silent" moderate Crohn's and eat a 90% wfpb diet. @@sectionalsofa my UC was diagnosed with a colonoscopy. After I changed my diet and my symptoms went away, I didn't want to do any tests again. Wishing you the best in your healing!
I'm not aware of anything specific about nightshades in any of her protocols. But in her new book, several of the recipes include nightshades such as tomatoes and bell peppers. Generally, I don't think Dr. G limits any kind of raw vegetables, other than to say if an individual is not able to digest/tolerate any particular vegetable, to try something different. To get a better answer, you might try to ask during her next live Q&A, which she usually does on Wednesdays on all her social media platforms.
@@showmemovegan On her Wednesday TH-cams, I've heard her say a particular vegetable e.g. corn, is not a healing vegetable. I don't know what she's said about nightshades, but they are generally known to be reactive for some people.
Hi there! I'm not an expert on plant classifications, but I simply described the vegetables in the way that Dr. Goldner teaches, and she generally describes the hypernourishing vegetables as "cruciferous plus spinach and swiss chard." Many people lump chard in with cruciferous, but technically cruciferous veggies are part of the brassicaceae family, while chard is in the chenopodiaceae or amaranthaceae family which is related to beets. Cool stuff!
Thank you very much, very informative. Can you eat sprouts? How much linseed oil can I take per day? Can I heat dishes, e.g. soup, to 42 C, and if so, how? Thank you for your answer Greeting from Europe❤❤
Hi, thanks for watching! For Dr. Goldner's Goodbye Lupus protocol, everything should be raw. I know there are certain "guidelines" about what is considered raw vs. cooked, but I've never heard Dr. G discuss if things can be warmed or what temperature is ok. She usually just emphasizes everything should be raw and she recommends warm herbal tea for people who want something warm. If you wanted to do her hypernourishing protocol instead, then cooked foods are ok. Sprouts are ok on any of her protocols in addition to the protocol minimums. And regarding the flax/linseed oil, Dr. Goldner usually says the upper limit is what you personally can tolerate. My understanding is if you have too much you'll have very loose stools. Dr. Goldner does live Q&As every Wednesday on all her social media channels if you want to hear her answers directly. Hope that helps!
The only oil Dr. G recommends is cold-pressed flaxseed oil. She explains that all other oils are too high in omega 6, so she recommends avoiding them all for her rapid healing programs.
All plants contain all the essential amino acids! So when eating an adequate number of calories for your body and activity level, the protein bases should be covered!
I have the "Hamilton Beach Food Processor & Vegetable Chopper for Slicing, Shredding, Mincing, and Puree, 10 Cups + Easy Clean Bowl Scraper, Black and Stainless Steel" and I have the Vitamix Legacy 7500. My mom has the Vitamix Legacy 5200, which I also like. Vitamix is quite pricey so I recommend waiting until Vitamix does a sale (they often do flash sales) and get whichever one goes on sale first. Or try Costco or Sam's because they often have these models for a much lower price.
Does anyone know if this works for Hashimotos? Other diets say to avoid uncooked cruciferous veggies as it’s high in goitrogens. Would appreciate any insights. Thanks in advance.
Hashimotos is actually one of the most common conditions Dr. G works with, she talks about it often on her live Q&As on Wednesdays. If you go to her Goodbye Lupus TH-cam channel, you can search for hashimotos and find some info.
All plants have protein, and if we eat an adequate number of calories, we should get all the protein we need. You can use a nutrition tracker like Cronometer to see how many calories and how much protein you're getting if you want to be sure.
So the protocol is all raw food? Is that during the initial intensive healing phase? Is some cooked allowed thereafter? Also, so do you know how Dr. Goldner feels about just water fasting? Dr. Alan Goldhamer - True North Health, Santa Rosa, Ca - has been seeing tremendous results for many years. Fasting goes way back of course. Thanks for the video
Yes, her protocol is all raw while healing. Once disease markers have normalized, and symptoms are gone, the idea is to continue "hypernourishing" with cruciferous, water, and omegas, but then yes cooked foods could be added back at that point. From what I recall, Dr. Goldner is not a fan of fasting in general because she prefers what she calls "overdosing in nutrition" through her protocol rather than fasting. But I personally am a big fan of Dr. Goldhamer and hope to go to True North myself one day!
Garlic is ok on all of Dr. Goldner's protocols. It's used in many of the recipes in her book that are intended for people on the protocols. Certainly if you have an individual sensitivity to it, you could leave it out.
So, is there no protein? I just ordered her cook book, and am excited to get started. Just the raw veggies? I’ve been reading about Hashimoto’s, and it said to stay away from cruciferous vegetable, and soy products. I’m seeing a nutritionist,, they’re telling me high protein (30g per meal), they also want me to eat meat, and 3 servings of cooked vegetables per meal. I was plant based vegan before I started, started eating meat, and an so much pain. This is a program I paid 10,000$ for, and I’m so confused, i wishI had known about this before. I also have pots, and rheumatoid arthritis. Now I’m going you try and incorporate this into the program in doing. It looks like you’re only eating cruciferous vegetables, and flax seed?
All plants have all essential aminio acids, and can provide adequate protein as long as you are consuming adequate calories. But when eating a totally raw diet, that means you'll probably be eating much larger volumes of food than usual since veggies are low in calorie density. Dr. Goldner's full healing protocol is all raw (unlimited veggies/cruciferous, plus flax or chia, and water) and no animal products, processed foods, or oils. This diet would be maintainted until symptoms are gone and labs are normal. Once healthy, people usually transition to a plant-based diet including both raw and cooked foods. If you are interested in following her protocol, I recommend joining her Facebook group called "Smoothie Solution #smoothieshred" where you can find answers to common questions from other people following the protocol. Dr. G also does live Q&As on her all her socials every Wednesday. Best of luck to you!
I'm no doctor, but just from my own experience, some amount of gas is normal and to be expected, but the best advice I have is to go slow. If you're not used to eating certain high fiber foods, transition to them slowly, adding just a little bit more every day. If you still have trouble, there are elimination diets you can do to try to identify particular foods you may be sensitive to by slowly reintroducing foods one by one. Sometimes you might be able to have a small amount of a certain food, but large amounts will cause gas. Unfortunately it can be tricky to figure out! If cutting back and slowing increasing the fiber doesn't help, I'd recommend working with a doctor or plant-based dietitian to help you identify your triggers. You might also want to check out the books by Dr. Bulsiewicz called Fiber Fueled and The Fiber Fueled Cookbook where he talks a lot about this topic. Hope that helps!
I think Dr. G usually recommends having warm water or herbal teas to help warm up, but I don't know that I've heard her talk about warming up any of the food. Depending on who you listen to, there are certain guidelines for what is considered raw vs. cooked and it just depends on exactly what temperature it gets up to. So I know some people who might, for example, make a raw soup in a Vitamix and blend it long enough that it starts to gently warm up, but I'm not an expert on what is considered raw, so I'm not sure what those temps are.
Thanks for interesting Video, especially for peopele the speak not enough english. ❤ What does it look like after healing, can you eat cooked food again, as Dr. Michael Greger recommends? Can you eat sprouts instead of legumes, e.g. Kucherbeswn, azuki beans etc.?
Yes, Dr. Goldner emphasizes using only raw foods for the fastest healing, but after that, you could slowly add some cooked foods back in including legumes, though she recommends continuing to eat lots of raw food in addition to whatever cooked foods you add. Sprouted legumes are not allowed on the healing protocol, but vegetable sprouts could be included in addition to the healing food minimums. Hope that helps!
You're welcome! Regarding protein, generally as long as one is eating an adequate number of calories for their size and activity level, protein needs should be met. If you have concerns about this, you can check how many calories you're consuming using something like Cronometer or another food tracking app. All plant foods have protein including all essential amino acids. But since this protocol is a raw diet and raw vegetables have a very low calorie density, that means you may need to eat a much larger volume of food than you may be used to in order to get the right amount of calories. Hope that helps!
Supplements are not technically part of the protocol, but when I've heard Dr. G talk about it, she usually recommends testing your levels for B12 and D and choosing a dosage based on your levels if needed.
Here's the page on her website that includes different ways to contact her including the 4 week one on one appointments: www.goodbyelupus.com/work-with-doctor-g/
Heya 👋 Thanks for the video. I clicked on it because I'm in the process of working through my Ulcerative Colitis symptoms using a plant based diet and I thought "Lupus is an autoimmune disease, let's see if there's some crossover?". But then at the end of the video it turns out, you used the diet to reverse Colitis!! Big Reveal!! I looked through your channel, but couldn't find anything about colitis specifically. I know it can sometimes be perceived as a taboo subject; (but after having it for years I'm pretty sure colitis peeps are pretty much desensitised) but I'm wondering if you could tell us about the severity of your symptoms, the diet you used and why, and the time it took you to heal and whether you've seen any resurgence of symptoms ever? If I was a youtuber, and I had managed to reverse colitis I'd be shouting it from the rooftops. I'm sure it's something a lot of people would be really interested in, and that would help them massively. Congratulations on getting that done!! Thanks for the videos and best of luck with the future :) P
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching and for the feedback. I think you're right about being desensitized...I could talk about bowel movements all day! 😆 But yes, I suppose I figure most people don't want to hear those kinds of details so that's probably why I don't specifically talk about the symptoms I had. I did recently discuss it briefly in a live hangout where I tell my story of going vegan. It's in the first five minutes or so of this video: th-cam.com/video/yTFh5b84TtU/w-d-xo.html And I have an older video where I talk about what I was eating in the years that I had symptoms, and what I ate transitioning to a vegan diet and when my symptoms went away: th-cam.com/video/p969-pbqkTk/w-d-xo.html But to directly answer your questions, my main symptoms were blood and mucus in stool plus fatigue and a mix of constipation and diarrhea. The colonoscopy showed that my case was mild. I first tried a paleo diet for a few years, which at times seemed to improve symptoms, but they always returned. Once I switched to a whole food plant-based diet, my symptoms were gone within the first couple weeks, and I haven't had any episodes since (in 3 years). And I actually reversed my symptoms before I had heard of Dr. Goldner's Goodbye Lupus Protocol, so for that video I was just showing people how it could work. But normally I simply eat whole grains, beans, tons of cooked and raw veggies, fruit, and small amounts of nuts and seeds. If you're just transitioning to WFPB and looking for more resources, some of my favorite doctors to follow are Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Michal Greger and more. Thanks again for watching and best of luck to you as well! I'd love to hear how you're doing with the diet if you ever want to check in again!
On the day I followed that protocol, I got 60 grams of protein which is more than I need for my size and had tons of energy. I normally follow a whole food plant-based diet and always get more than the required amount of protein.
I followed a whole food plant-based diet made up of whole grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, and small amounts of nuts and seeds. Simply removing animal products and processed foods resolved my symptoms.
Sory my english isnt good... I didnt understand about nuts. What nust alowed in protocol? If i have walnut , pumkind seed, cashew is it good or not in protocol? Thanks
You may have to eat a much larger volume than you're used to. So the idea is to simply drink more smoothies or eat more raw vegetables until you are full. Dr. G recommends eating multiple times a day, whenever you are hungry.
Very informative. I am from Africa and have a heart problem. Con you add some african dish like plantains, green banana, yellow yams, sweet potatoes etc to this diet?
Hello! I am not a doctor, so I can't recommend anything regarding your specific condition. But if you want to follow this protocol exactly, it only includes raw vegetables and a small amount of raw fruit. I'm not sure if all of those can be consumed raw, but any raw fruits/veggies would be ok. Depending on your individual health and goals, you may not need to follow it that strictly. This protocol is intended to be used to help reverse chronic health conditions, so if you're just maintaining health, I think any of those foods cooked or raw would be a great part of a balanced plant-based diet. Hope that helps!

Thanks for making this video. A nice recap of the program. I may buy the book.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent review. Thank you
You're welcome!
Those outtakes, though! 😂😅So cute!
Thanks! 😂😉
Thank you for sharing! Well done :)
You're welcome! I appreciate your comment 😊
Thank you..very well explained..

Thank you. This is so clear and helpful.
You're welcome!
@@showmemovegan Quick question: Did your IBD go into remission endoscopically or on MRIs or Ultra Sound? I have "silent" moderate Crohn's and eat a 90% wfpb diet. I do not have typical symptoms, but the disease is apparent w tests. I refused medication and yet there is an improvement on US and MRI with diet alone, but it's still present.
@@sectionalsofa my UC was diagnosed with a colonoscopy. After I changed my diet and my symptoms went away, I didn't want to do any tests again. Since I no longer had symptoms and my UC was considered mild when diagnosed, my doctor was ok with me not doing any more tests unless my symptoms returned. But of course every situation is different. Wishing you the best in your healing!
@@showmemovegan Thanks for your response. Great that you're doing well.
Great video! Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much for summarising everything, could u kindly share a link for her recipes. Thanks
The recipes I tried came from her book, which is available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Goodbye-Lupus-Hello-Delicious-Hyper-Nourishing/dp/B0CQMFCKYZ
Thank you very much for sharing with us. Does Dr Goldner say anything about Night shades?
I LOVE Yoga with Adrienne ❤
Me too! Her 30 days of yoga is what helped me get back into it recently!
Thank you, really nicely explained and helpful😊
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
I'm just looking at your thick healthy hair. Wow
Thank you!
Swiss chard is cruciferous. You had mentioned it is not. Ya might look it up
Cool stuff!
Great video
Thanks!
I'll use these recipes. I am back on the full protocol and would like some variety. Thx.
Aloha I just wanted to let you know that Swiss chard is a cruciferous vegetable❤
It is not cruciferous but it is included as a healing green
It's a beet, bred for the tops/leaves instead of the root. Beta vulgaris, Amaranth family, not Brassica family.
What about olive oil?
The only oil Dr. G recommends is cold-pressed flaxseed oil. She explains that all other oils are too high in omega 6, so she recommends avoiding them all for her rapid healing programs.
Love from india ❤
Thanks for watching!❤
How do you get enough protein?
All plants contain all the essential amino acids! So when eating an adequate number of calories for your body and activity level, the protein bases should be covered!
Need your leg warmers, live them.
Thanks for video! Do you mind sharing what type of food processor and smoothie machine you use
Thank you!
What about protein?
All plants have protein, and if we eat an adequate number of calories, we should get all the protein we need. You can use a nutrition tracker like Cronometer to see how many calories and how much protein you're getting if you want to be sure.
I love her
So the protocol is all raw food?
I would like to buy the book . I have some of. The other books
Wait a minute, I thought that garlic (11:49) is a no no?
Garlic is ok on all of Dr. Goldner's protocols. It's used in many of the recipes in her book that are intended for people on the protocols. Certainly if you have an individual sensitivity to it, you could leave it out.
I love Chia pudding!
What about flatulence😢 Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Is the cauliflower cooked or raw for this smoothie?
It's raw.
can you warm things up at all?
What does it look like after healing, can you eat cooked food again, as Dr.
We have the same hair!
Thanks for sharing! What about the protein intake?
You're welcome! Regarding protein, generally as long as one is eating an adequate number of calories for their size and activity level, protein needs should be met. If you have concerns about this, you can check how many calories you're consuming using something like Cronometer or another food tracking app. All plant foods have protein including all essential amino acids. But since this protocol is a raw diet and raw vegetables have a very low calorie density, that means you may need to eat a much larger volume of food than you may be used to in order to get the right amount of calories. Hope that helps!
What is the dosage of VD and B12 she recommends to take?
Thank you for this video
Supplements are not technically part of the protocol, but when I've heard Dr. G talk about it, she usually recommends testing your levels for B12 and D and choosing a dosage based on your levels if needed.
How can we reach Dr. G, for private one on one 4 week program?? Please let me know.
Here's the page on her website that includes different ways to contact her including the 4 week one on one appointments: www.goodbyelupus.com/work-with-doctor-g/
Heya 👋
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the videos and best of luck with the future :)
P
It's in the first five minutes or so of this video: th-cam.com/video/yTFh5b84TtU/w-d-xo.html
And I have an older video where I talk about what I was eating in the years that I had symptoms, and what I ate transitioning to a vegan diet and when my symptoms went away: th-cam.com/video/p969-pbqkTk/w-d-xo.html
But to directly answer your questions, my main symptoms were blood and mucus in stool plus fatigue and a mix of constipation and diarrhea.
Super low protein diet, how do you have any energy?
On the day I followed that protocol, I got 60 grams of protein which is more than I need for my size and had tons of energy. I normally follow a whole food plant-based diet and always get more than the required amount of protein.
A 2nd ?…what did u do for your u-col. if u didn’t have this protocol, back then?
I followed a whole food plant-based diet made up of whole grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, and small amounts of nuts and seeds. Simply removing animal products and processed foods resolved my symptoms.
Sory my english isnt good... I didnt understand about nuts. What nust alowed in protocol? If i have walnut , pumkind seed, cashew is it good or not in protocol? Thanks
Nuts are not allowed at all on the Goodbye Lupus Protocol, and the only seeds allowed are flax or chia.
I am so thing from following her protocol. Yes you are right. NO COLORIES. So how can you only be drinking smoothies???
