Once, of the beach of Fort Pierce, walked out the balcony and there were huge schools of fish going north. Hurried and starterd casting a spoon. They were 2-4 lbs. Bluefish. Caught 4 and burried them in moist sand in the shade. Pinched the Barbs and caught a released. I aproached strollers and asked if they wanted fish. Guess the look they gave me. But they stayed and a lot of people walked away with at least a couple of bluefish in hand. Even a non experienced fisherman that came to ask went with 4

Love fishing the ocean but hate that sand. It’s really nice seeing a father and his son out fishing. If we don’t get this younger generation in to the outdoors ain’t going have it anymore

I grew up in Bradenton, many years ago a high school buddy of mine and his older sister and brother were swimming near Longboat Pass when they got caught in an undertow. Their father jumped in to save them, fortunately all 3 kids were saved, but unfortunately their father drowned. You can never underestimate the power of mother nature !!

Aloha. Grew up on Longboat Key, went to school in Bradenton. Used to fish the pass, but never went swimming anywhere close.

Also grew up in srq Bradenton. Spearfished the bridge at that pass for like 15 years. Out by beer can island. Bunch of people have been lost there. It rips and it goes from waist deep to 20 ft deep really close to shore

I'd have to watch the tide charts and you could only swim for 1-2 hours during slack tide.

@@BeardedBrad92 i'm happy that Captain is ok but the minute he left the boat it became salvage, and the tow company gets a percentage of the value of the boat,
the way they puled into it, and threw all that propwash in there was total BS

Should have walked the beach towards the lighthouse the water runs deeper through there that's usually where the snook are along the beach even back towards the causeway or blind pass out near captiva fished that area for years

There’s an area in Marathon, Florida called vaca cut that has incredible tides just like this, but fortunately the bridge is a little taller than this bridge but equally as dangerous

    • @BeardedBrad92

We bounced off that bridge last year lol. First time going through there and we second guessed the clearance for the tower and slowed down and the current pushed us into the piling. No serious damage thankfully

  • @chris6054

Good ol Blind Pass...amazing fishing year round, and its all because of that RIPPING current. Sometimes that bridge is freakin elbow to elbow. And since Im typing this as you explain it to Kelton, please make sure to hammer home no matter how "good" of a swimmer you are, DO NOT. And I appreciate you saying even you wouldnt have a chance in that current. Hopefully one day you and K will get one of the 50-60" snooky girls that hides through there....theyre lurkin definitely.
Edit; dude its WILD how much that entire area changed from 2018-now, with the hurricanes etc. First we had a nice flat area like you see here, then it turned into like a 3ft drop from the parking lot to the beach, and now it actually looks...nice and flat again??

Also glad the bystander mentioned how FAR around that other towboat would have to go to get around the islands. Always surprised me there wasn't a little bit larger access bridge for boaters, it's either all the way south to the Causeway, or north around Captiva
