After End Game, I was watching every single RDJ TH-cam video I could find. I also surprised to learn that I hadn't really watched any of his prior movies outside of the MCU, so I downloaded a few of those as well
Oprah is so oblivious to the seriousness of drug addiction, she's trying to get crazy stories out of him instead of letting him explain the deep trouble/pain it causes.
2:54 "Yeah, a lot of people went to great lengths to--" "Do you remember the craziest, you must have had some crazy times!" Not that I'm not interested in the crazy times, but I wish RDJ had been able to finish, because for a moment he was getting serious and paying tribute to the friends who kept trying to help him. Not hating on Oprah, though! She got RDJ to sit on her couch and talk all about the drugs (albeit, passing it all off as a joke.) Contrast that passive-aggressive interviewer in 2016 who asked jerk questions till RDJ calmly got up and walked out...
I feel like the difference between the jerk he walked out on in 2016 and Oprah is the context. The context of this conversation was that he went there to talk about his addiction. The context of his conversation with the jerk is he went there to promote a movie. It just wasn't appropriate for that other guy to veer the conversation into Robert's past as he gave clear indications he wasn't comfortable with it. If someone comes on your show to talk about their past and their struggles with addiction, you get to ask about those things. If they're on your show to promote a movie, you ask them about the fucking movie.
Again an addict who tells the serious, embarrassing truth in in quite funny way. He is georgous and I admire his humour. Wishing him all the best and his lovely wife. They are such a nice couple!
is it me or does Oprah love to cut people off when there in the middle of a sentence? Thats so annoying i wanna finish listening to what hes trying to say jeez!
Is it just me, or is Oprah interrupting him any time he tries to get serious? It seems like when he tries to speak about the consequences of his behavior and how others tried to help him, she just asks for more crazy stories. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I feel like that's really rude and problematic of her if she is doing that.
Downey was patient with her but the severity of what he was talking about, she has no clue. I think he is still a scrapper, as famous as he is, with a wonderful spirit, and intellect, and it makes sense to me that he also went into martial arts. It is an awesome outlet that can help on so many levels. He really IS Ironman, nobody else can play that role. His wife Susan is incredible, and it is so cool these two are still crazy in love after 15 years or so. How cool is she though? She just seems very no nonsense but fun. These two are soulmates definitely examples of relationship goals.😎
Robert is my idol, I'm inifitely glad he overcame all of that drug thing. It would be such a waste if he hadn't I mean, he has talent, a great sence of humor, looks and I'm so happy for him, now that he has his life back.
Thanks so much for uploading these videos. It's a huge insight into a part of his life I've wanted to learn more about, but from his own mouth on his own terms.
I feel SO sad about this had happen to an amazing man like him...Glad he's in his best moment now thanks to his wife (friends) and talent and all this problems made him be the RDJ we know today. It makes me so emotional lol :'D x)
This interview is painful to watch. RDJ is using humour as a coping mechanism and for deflection purposes but really, nothing he's saying in this interview is even remotely funny. I lived with an addict for close to two decades and trust me, there is absolutely *nothing* funny about addiction. I feel sorry that he was put in this situation (Oprah show) as a form of "career damage control". RDJ doesn't owe us (the public) any apologies or explanations. He owes his family & friends and all of the people he hurt while he was under the influence these things but definitely not us. Iron Man success aside, it's amazing how far RDJ has come in the last 20yrs and he should be damn proud of his success. The thing most people don't realize is that RDJ will *always* be an addict. Don't let the Iron Man enigma or his billion dollar fortune fool you. This is a man who has addiction hardwired in his DNA and for the rest of his life he will need to do the necessary work in order to keep his hard won sobriety in check. That said, I fully believe he can continue to maintain his sobriety as long as he remains honest with himself and maintains a tight support system of family & friends to help him along the way.
I can see that you have healed and I pray you find God, so that your illness will never resurface again. Thank-you for being such a terrific actor and a wonderful human being.
Oprah's ALWAYS too harsh. she asks people directly of their problems. i don't think that it's a lot of fun talking about ones drug addiction. or, in michael jackson's case, about child abusing.. but i guess that's why she's so succesful...
poor man ... intelligent in some ways ... but ... drugs are a consequence of bad psyche ... he says he´s out of them but ... this is worst than alcoholism!!! once a junkie always a junkie, just beware and fight the day by day
Who’s here after watching End Game??? God bless these legend!!!

“Anything you attempt to control you probably have a problem with” Wise and true.
So True!
Oprah is so oblivious to the seriousness of drug addiction, she's trying to get crazy stories out of him instead of letting him explain the deep trouble/pain it causes.
I don't think she cares about anyone except getting stories for her show
@@sangitadongre5396 i respectfully disagree
She didn't even listen to him :/
Do you remember driving naked on a Porsche?
RDJ: Absolutely, it was Blast!!!
Man this guy's awesome..
... grow up you Millennial turd ...
@@jim7627 ok boomer
I love how it's such a serious matter and yet he can still find the humour through it all.
I just adore him. I'm so glad that he got help and was strong enough to take this journey. I hope he and his wife are so happy!

@@coena9377 I seen that interview in 2016 and that's was uncalled for in that interview

His Eyes Are AMAZING!!

You have to respect his candor about the events and even tho he laughs about it. He’s honest and owns it.
And in this situation I think he’s laughing to make it less painful in a way which shows how hard it must be for him
I love RDJ!

It's absolutely something she does til this day. The interview is about her. She interrupts so much.

People say he became cool after Ironman! RDJ is always cool! High-Value guy!
He's really a funny man, I really like him, but at the end, when he got serious about addiction and rehab, I liked him even more!!

this is a really great interview but I REALLY wish oprah could let someone finish a sentence.
She is like cut the bulls××t give me more stories
Thanks so much for uploading these videos. It's a huge insight into a part of his life I've wanted to learn more about, but from his own mouth on his own terms.
Robert kept it so cool talking about these things but imagine how hard it actually is to do this....
