I FEEL THE SAME CANT EXPLIN WHY I FEEL CONECTED WITH THIS BAND
THEY HAVE A SOUGHT OF OLD SOUL FEEL TO THEM
MAYB DATS WHY
This song made me cry. I am 44, I never dreamed music would sound so pure again. This song literally gave me hope for a new day. I Cannot stop listening to it. It's a musical breakthrough. These kids are a phenomenon. I Cannot believe what Im hearing and I can't stop listening.
I agree
You said it perfectly
Omg you people need to get out there and search for more music, and that’s coming from someone younger than you. Greta is good and there are so many other bands/groups doing great things if you would just look instead of slyly bashing them with comments about “never thinking music could sound this good/pure again” or whatever
Agree 👍 terrific sound
@@Jasondurgen When she was young, you didn't have to *search* for this kind of music. It was playing all over the radio and on the speakers at every record store. The mainstream now is good in its own right, but nowhere near as pure and soulful as truly good music.

Imagine a singer with a great voice who actually sings......we no longer have to imagine, here he is.
Don't know what your talking about dude. I grew up with great singers. Chris Cornell ,Chester Bennington, Layne Stayley ,they were from my childhood. @@ezio_Winchester Understood. It wasn't well phrased.
@@ezio_Winchester nah that’s probably exactly what he meant. Don’t short change yourself. To say “imagine” means that there is no reality to the statement he was making. cause rock music doesn't tell you to buy meaningless shit 24/7
Or... Not many people like it enough for it to gain traction. Very bland.
I am 66 yrs old. Rush, you are going to have to move over for this one. This song makes it hard to breathe, much less see while driving. Absolutely stellar!!!❤
Same age as you…..I agree about rush…….man didn’t we grow up at the best time…..awesome music
They aren't really progressive rock, they have the same tennor vocals but thats literally it lol
Exactly who I thought of ❤
He voice is controlled whereas Geddy will be singing normally than out of the blue start screaming and it sounds straining. I'm still surprised to this day how big Rush became with Geddy's voice which to me is similar to Yoko.
Played this song to my dad who, like myself, is a huge classic rock (mostly Led Zeppelin) fan and he smiled and said "That brings me back." These guys are so amazingly talented.
I hear your Dad, GVF hits me right in the nostalgia.

Rock and roll has never left. It's evolved and if anything has gotten better. I had to check this song out because it was recommended. To me this band and song is a devolution of music. It sounds like the band fun. Trying out something new and failing. You should really check out bands like Nothing More if you think real rock doesn't exist today.
I’m not even a big rock and roll guy but I see your point. This song should be up there with like “stairway to heaven” or in my personal opinion “don’t fear the reaper” it’s just literally a perfect rock song.
I'm 73 and they make me feel 20..they are incomparable
I was driving to my grief meeting after losing my greatest love. This song was playing on the radio. The meeting was cancelled due to rain but I'll always have this melody of not losing hope!

Never Ever Give up on Hope. Ever. ❤
A little bit of Led Zeppelin, a touch of Styx, a splash of Rush, a refreshing sound that takes me back to 1976. These guys are the real deal. This song performance is truly fantastic. 3 brothers and their excellent drummer friend bring a new hope for modern music. I’ve asked many times, “Why aren’t any bands creating music like in the 70s?”
Here is the answer. Absolutely amazing performance by these fine young musicians!
The anwser is simple, people loved an had plenty of drugs to help them , ever noticed how well you perform on certian things , for me , crown liquor 🥃 makes me focus an do things 10 times better , an im talkin like a few shots , the old music was loaded with drugs an alcoholic beverages 😉
His voice reminds me so much of Geddy Lee.
Times change, things move on, it’s the progression of things….
Seems kind of like Slade
The answer is simple: sadly a lot of young people prefer other sounds, i agree that in a Disco you can't play that, but a better voice and better instruments are a great deal outside
This sounds like getting your life back together or seeing someone you love for the first time in ages
yeeeep...exactly...so true!!!!!!

They are quite talented.I think the only reason they're hated on is because they sound like Led Zeppelin, and Rush.
Daniel in the Maiden when you say rush, that's exactly how I feel - it's amazing how similar he sounds to Geddy Lee, he just has better looks hahahaha
Rock and roll ain't dead yet, kids.
Yes but Zeppelin was done decades ago..poser boy
The growl he does when he sings "Can you hear that dreadful sound" in both parts...goosebumps.
Listen to the live performance of this song on their channel. The growls are even better
Girl, yes. 👍 Goosebumps.
More wince than goosebumps. Because he’s obviously straining and going to blow out his voice sooner than later.
@@gordonshumway7756 that’s not even close to true. It’s so low in his range. That effect can be added to vocals by singers easily since he is using his chest voice and not his head voice. He just engages wind in part of his throat that he doesn’t when he sings smoothly. That growl is actually probably pretty natural for him. It’s when people can’t sing and try stuff that stuff that will hurt their voice.

As someone who lived through the classic rock (and prog rock) era, it’s easy to see GVF’s influences, because they wear them on their sleeves. I think people put them down because they’re so unabashedly retro. It’s like they beamed in from 1974. I happen to like that era of music, but it really makes this band an outlier in the current music scene. As for the singer’s voice, it’s an acquired taste (like Geddy Lee of Rush), but he definitely has pipes.

@@soulofash2112 I don't know why, but I like Josh's voice MUCH better than Geddy's. More tone to it or something. I know Rush were great musicians but that voice drove me to tears...in a bad way, too.
Look, if Danny can get a snare and cymbal sounds out of a timpani with sheer willpower then who are we to stop him
That’s what I was thinking 🤣🤣🤣. I drum myself and thought it was so funny.
Actually he is shouting the sounds, the drums are just cosmetic and are there to show that he is the drummer.
😂😂😂
Ya , he's got beat pads at his feet :) I loved the drum roll he did - that wasn't actually there ! A blatant "FU , to this shit " , and the production/record company is too lost, in their own drugged out world, to have noticed it ! :)

Lovely written
That was so well stated , all I can add is BRAVO , and I agree!!

100%!
I swear I was having the worst day of my life ( long story ) but took me straight out of it .
As someone who is comfortable singing high notes, what he does is damn impressive. The highs with the vibrato is so fucking impressive.
And the yodelling/vocal flipping on top of that! This man has so much skill and talent

Josh has the most ethereal voice of any singer currently active. Jake plays guitar like he hung out with Pagey. I still find it amazing that they both just turned 26! 🤘🎤🎸
This is genuinely one of the best songs ever composed and recorded.
To me, it instantly launches him into being one of the best male rock vocalists of all time

LYRICS
Sorrows of the Earth
May our tears of rain wash down to bathe you
This is what life is worth
When the fires still burn and rage all around
Can you hear that dreadful sound?
Fire still burning on the ground
Follow the fearsome sound
As they march to battle, hear the drums pound
We do not fight for war
But to save the lives of those who do so
Can you hear that dreadful sound?
Fire still burning on the ground
Can you feel my love?
Rising with the heat above
Life's the story of
Ascending to the stars as one
Marching across the land
Is a peaceful army joining the band
Walking hand in hand
To an anthem loudly sung where they stand
Can you hear that dreadful sound?
Fire still burning on the ground
Can you feel my love?
Rising with the heat above
Life's the story of
Ascending to the stars as one
Thank you.
Merci 😊👍🤘

Josh's vocals in this song specifically could lead a revolution, he has such a big variance, nothing but respect and love 🖤
Yes
This song is so amazing. I'm not normally into bands like this but they really nailed it! Love his vocals...well actually everything about the song is so rock and roll.. wish there was more bands out there doing this!
He sounds like a raspier version of Geddy Lee.😁
YES! The voice of a generation
This, light my love, and black smoke rising should go down in history
So since we saw them last, Sam cut his hair and now wears shoes, Jake now doesn’t wear shoes, Danny wears a dress & Josh has hit puberty and has a few facial hairs. Am I missing anything? Great song btw

Props to your dedication 😂😂
they're adults they do what they want
I'm a big heavy metal guy but this band is truly refreshing. It's such a mixture of 60's 70's 80s...ect.
Heavy metal fan myself as well. Started hearing this recently had to ask Alexa who it was. LOL. Gorgeous.
Our metal roots stem from sabbath, Zeppelin, and AC⚡DC. (At least if you're like me at all) it's only natural to take notice.
@@joshparsons7631 Zeppelin isn’t metal though... they’re hard rock
@@chrismarple most of those bands are pre metal. They were all hard rock until metal became a thing.
Same here bud. Reminds me of high school in the late 70's.
I sob crying every time I hear this song come on the radio in the car. Makes me think of my daddy. He would have loved them if he was alive. The first time I heard this song, I had like a spiritual awakening and left an abusive relationship of 7 years and got clean again off of heroin and haven’t looked back, and that was back in February.
Love that for you. Sending the best vibes your way x
I’m so proud of you love!!
This band is all over the place in such a great way! T
To anyone who tends to dismiss artists when they first hear them if their sound is a little different or outside of what they traditionally are drawn to musically, I suggest that you open your mind and start digging into this band. They have such an amazing range of styles and cannot be put in a particular box. That’s not always a good thing but in this case it’s perfect. If you give them and chance and listen to all of their stuff, ESPECIALLY anything from live shows, chances are VERY good that you will be glad you did. They continue to evolve as well and they are young. Sky is the limit for this talented group of young men!
This song has me on the verge of tears with full body chills literally EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Yes I agree! I saw them live in 2018 and it was like something I’ve never experienced before with a band. Full body chills. Simply divine. I can’t wait to hear this song live.

Lmao it really is a masterpiece of music and vocals. Amazing stuff. You just don't find stuff like this often.
You are not alone
The rockstar angels looked down and smiled realizing that hope is eternal.
The fallen angles looked up and we’re wondering how long these flesh and blood men had before they joined them. Pleasing to the flesh and ear doesn’t always correlate to the spirit.
@@foosforce2147 what do you even mean?
@@yourfriendgen4427 The fallen angels are in hell looking up because hell is underneath your feet or below you. They are not flesh and blood like us they have been judged and are fitted for destruction in their spirit (soul) body. They are looking up at you enjoying the music, that their father Satan has inspired and you love it. It makes you feel good and your flesh enjoys it. It's completely devoid of any redeeming qualities and makes you even despise the truth of the gospel of Christ, the bible, and God without you even knowing it. If only the music can keep you away from the bible and the truth of salvation through the death and burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you will die and join them in hell. The spirit should be the thing that's touched when you listen to music and it should reveal God and all of his magnificence. In the bible, in the book of Romans chapter 10 verses 9-13 explains what you need to know and what you need to do in order to escape the domain of the fallen angels that lookup, remember you asked me, what does this even mean, now you know.
@@foosforce2147 Jesus turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.

So glad to see the "led Zeppelin knockoff" comments are dying down and seeing people appreciating and enjoying this band. They really brought back the 70s sound to a new generation. Love this tune
Even if openly acknowledging ripping off led Zeppelin isn't a bad thing, the world needs more of this and less of EVERYTHING else out there. IMO.
I agree. The reason why is because they are creating their own sound. I'll admit I didn't mind them sounding like Led Zeppelin, but I do love them making their own sound now. It's a way to bring back the old in with the new. Even back in the 90s 'the Black Crows' had this Led Zeppelin sound in a way, but mixing it with 90s rock and southern rock. Then, Lenny Kravitz having Jimi Hendrix sound with 90s rock. So, that's how I'm seeing these new rock bands of 2020s like; Greta van Fleet, Dirty Honey and Joyous Wolf along with others a way to bring back the old sound they're bringing back whether it's; Classic Rock, Post-Grunge (which is actually making a huge comeback as well) and Punk Rock in with a new sound. As long as they don't add hip-hop, pop, trap especially and EDM lol. That felt like how the 2010s rock went; beginning making a new sound, but then going all pop, rap and EDM.
I hear you. But let's be honest and give credit where credit is due. They DID start off as a total Zep carbon copy, I don't think anyone can argue this (they did 90% covers in their original shows). My issue is... they denied all this when asked in an interview, which bands influenced them. Respect for your roots. Then move on and become original. BTW, I love GVF.
Justin Bieber + Lord of the Rings Hobbits +Jim Carry (the Cable Guy singing) + Led Zeppelin +lady gaga fashion + hipster/hippie trying to jump on the old sound wagon = GVF
I actually enjoy reading the LZ comments to see how wound up they get.
