My soul died when you said TIM-ber and then resurrected when you said TAM-ber.

My soul died every time I heard myself say it while editing. 😅 I almost over-dubbed a correct pronunciation, but...I didn't😬

@@PodularModcast lmao I know the feeling. It’s best that you didn’t waste the time. Didn’t know you had a TH-cam channel, I’ll check it out.

Thank you! I have been waiting for this video since the linnstrument came out. Love Aalto.

I love using my linnstrument with Aalto, but find that a lot of the parameters have a ton of zippering... Are there any plans to introduce smoothing to midi parameters to prevent steppy sweeps? Surge has a great implementation of smoothing for aftertouch / midi, and this It would make me want to use Aalto a lot more!

Do you know if the pressure/aftertouch signal is being transmitted as 7 bit or 14 bit in this case?

      @@sound.workshop 7 bit I believe...

Most inputs are already smoothed, so I'm not sure what you're hearing. Maybe it's the 7-bit pressure input as suggested. If you would like in-depth help please email me: support at madronalabs dot com. -Randy

@@madrona-labs maybe its the smoothing algorithm? I'd check out the algorithms used in surge, since it's open source - it just recently added some really good ones made for mpe and it makes a big difference. I just tested and I definitely hear stepping when using pressure/y axis to modulate things in aalto...
And does Aalto support 14 bit after touch? Not many plug-ins do.

Thanks for repping MPE and LinnStrument Madrona team! I love playing linnstrument (there are a few videos on my profile).
Something a lot of wind synth / linnstrument players do is set the ADSR to stay fully open during a note and then use the filter to modulate the loudness. However, if you only use the filter to modulate loundess, the sound is a little smushy. So we compliment this by having a bit of decay envelope modulation to "pluck" the filter for every new note which adds some defition.
For this to work, we would need separate attenuators for Pressure and Envelope modulation of the filter cutoff. Would you ever consider adding support for this, or maybe a little CV mixer module off to the side in Aalto?

In this case you could scale the envelope using its output and then send both level and the pressure signal into the filter attentuverter to get any mix you want. In general though I would like to add per-cable scaling somehow for Aalto 2. The mixer utility is one way I've thought of. Also putting a dial on each cable somehow is a possibility. Thanks for the feedback. -Randy

Hey Randy, thanks for the nice response. There are so many constraints within interfaces I really think Aalto is awesome and you fit a lot of clear information into the interface. I didn't think about output level. I'll try that out. Also, I totally forgot that you and Madrona are behind soundplane! Sorry for acting like I was introducing you to expressive synths, I'm used to constantly trying to share MPE with new people.@@madrona-labs
