Yeah but what is better for certain environments? Does the led emit blue lighting that cause problems with sleep when placed in bedrooms? Does the led help reduce bacterial growth maybe for bathrooms or kitchen, entrance to house?
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I cant stress how much I hate seeing daylight white bulbs in people's homes at night. Totally not cozy or relaxing. Daylight bluish white is for functional purposes, like kitchen counters or project areas like the garage. Warm yellows are for lamps and light fixtures that make a room feel cozy and relaxing.

Easy way to understand kelvin When a metal is slightly warmed up it emits warm colour(red) If its heated up at higher temperatute the light becomes yellow (less warm than red) and on welders where the temperature of the arc is really high the colour emited is cool white to blue
nice approach. wish you had some recommendations for specific areas of the home... Bright white or Cool White in the basement ? Does a diffuser make a difference.? I am trying to retrofit my basement 2x2' troffer units... should I get a bright white option or will cool white be appropo?
I found daylight bulbs today when shopping. I do a lot of art and then take pictures to share it and your typical yellow light bulb can mess up how a drawing looks, but these daylights are neutral and the lighting is perfect. And apparently they're good for depression
I believe the yellowish which is the color of incandescent is called soft white. I have soft white LED in my bedroom light fixture and they appear to be the same color as the incandescent bulbs that were previously in the fixture.
You cant get any plainer than this, a child could understand. I want white light from my bulbs not yellow, and i want them bright except right by my bed and i still dont want it to cast a yellow shade. So, high lumens for brightness and on color (yellow or white) temp go high number also or "cool" for a white light. Thank you so much.
The reasoning behind the terms "warm light" and "cool light" is based on the color spectrum not on the actual temperature in Kelvin. The lower Kelvin lights give off a yellowish color which is associated with warm colors in color theory. While higher Kelvin lights give off more of a bluish color which is associated with cool/cold colors in color theory.
I have almost no sunlight coming into my room and especially now that winter's coming (so there's even less light) I realize how much I hate that, so I really need a sunlight-imitating light bulb that at the same time doesn't cost much energy so I can keep it on for a long time without worrying about the cost. This video was already pretty helpful! If someone has some recommendations for me, I'd greatly appreciate that! I'm thinking about getting a smart bulb but I'm not sure if that's the right choice.
While they may have Mercury in them, the average Mercury emissions (based on an 8000 hour running time) of CFLs are about 1.8 Mg; 1.2 being emitted from power source or plant and 0.6 being from landfilling. Where Incandescent bulbs average around 5.8 Mg, which consists totally of power plant emissions.
I'm currently working on replacing all of our bulbs to LED. I'm hoping to have gotten rid of all the incandescent bulbs by the end of the year, leaving only LED and CFL (I'm not buying any new CFLs, but we already had some that still work perfectly fine).
I'm always confused about the warm to cool brighter tones .. I figured "soft white" is the warmest, "daylight" is the next cooler, and that there's a 3rd even brighter the "bright white". my deal is why is "bright white" so hard to find? what do I gotta look for choosing the coolest brightest light? I can't deal with this dim yellow hue.
+Carlos Torres 2600K is the low yellow/orange light. 5000K or higher is the bright white/blue light. Also go by how many lumens they have. More lumens = more light no matter what the light spectrum. Do what I do. Mix one 2600k and one 5000k and it mixes to produce a very realistic daylight.

I lost all confidence in regulatory and testing agencies as soon as novelty tricks like running a damn light from your cell phone became the compelling focus of the industry. 5000K is supposed to be 'whiter' but is really a cold, sterile light like old cheap Cool White fluorescents. Both the coolish light and yellowish light depends on how much power (watts) it contains so if you want a light bulb that perfectly bright for your small apartment then go for a light bulb that contains a higher lumen (level of brightness)

Just found that the led bulbs I bought are on the yellow end even though they are high in the lumens scale. But the overall cost per day from using them will still be more financial worthy.

Thank you. This video is quite helpful.
Next can you make a Light Bulb Dying Guide
What color does the Soft White light looks like from Walmart the Great Value Brand ?
Please tell me you didn't go all the way to Edison's residence to shoot those few seconds and then come back to wherever you live which I'm sure is not Louisville.
Just found that the led bulbs I bought are on the yellow end even though they are high in the lumens scale. But the overall cost per day from using them will still be more financial worthy.
That's what I am trying to avoid! I bought a $20 light bulb last year and it doesn't look any better than my old incandescently!!
+Alexis Jankowski... I have noticed that my usage hadn't changed but my payments have gotten a bit lower. It's not hundreds post month but it's noticeable. That's what I want. I changed all my bulbs and it's cooler in my house and that's a major plus. Give it a try.
+Lashunna Abron thanks for the tip!
+Alexis Jankowski.... absolutely any time
2:50 he just got a hit marker on that table.
im going with warm light
why?
i wanna go back in my childhood when i used to see yellow lights and was cool
i want to go back in nostalgia
What are the bright white light bulbs called? Do they have a specific name?
I think they are called day light, but I don't know. I'm looking for better bulbs and get away from this dang yellow light! I just got a lamp that came with "day light" bulb, and it's a nice blue that I like.
Day light or sunlight. If the packaging doesn't say either, look at the color temperature. Anything 5000K to 6500K is white.
How about if a side table lamp says that Max wattage it's 40w can I use 60w?
Good video and instructor!
Thank you so much! My room light is yellow, and I wanted a white light or a cool one. Now I know which one to pick up!
Very helpful thanks
What about socket sizes????
