I go to this school and 2018-2019 season I didn't make a freshman team. 13 people made it and I went under line being 15th. My friend Hayden Green made it 3rd and he is 5'11" and he plays Shooting guard.
I tried out for basketball and got cut it was so much more different playing basketball in my driveway then playing in gym make sure if your trying out for basketball to find a gym and practice there
Man I'm trying out today man and I was practicing hard during the summer on a cement court but I know I got this all im gonna do is keep it simple play smart and hustle

I saw an argument saying if height matter or not and the real answer is it does, I assure I’m actually pretty good at basketball and I’m in 8th grade. I’m 5’4 and I play against taller people in high school and it’s sooo hard. SOMETIMES I REALLY WISH I WAS 6 foot

I just started high school and I want to tryout for basketball, but I’m more used to playing streetball with my friends and I’ve never been on an actual basketball team. I’m 14 5’10 and 165 pounds I can dribble well but I’m not a shooter and I just want advice and what to do during tryouts and what to expect. Please let me know if you think I can make it!
I’m starting high school too kinda nervous to try out but my advice is to stay calm relaxed communicate with other player is key have great energy be first in line hustle grab rebounds don’t worry to much on scoring a lot of kids worry about that when other things can get u to make the team
You should try playing for one of the Rec Leagues that will let you play without trying out before you actually tryout for a real school team if you have only played pickup games because you will gain alot of experience and confidence in yourself. And you will learn how to play games in front of a crowd. I got cut from my basketball team last year cause I had problems being aggressive because of how I lacked confidence in my game and I couldn’t pass or dribble properly in a full speed game. I was so used to playing 1 on 1 games that I just didn’t talk to my teammates on the court. But I was an outstanding dribbler and a scorer. Now that I went to the Rec league, I have all of the finishing touches (Talking to teammates more, knowing what coaches want from a player, knowing how to be a team player etc.) to make me a team player and I have a 60% more chance of making it in 9th now. 👍🏽 hope you make it.
Hashim Khan I'm going to try out for junior varsity, I'm quite sure I couldn't get into regular varsity. Too short for one thing, and I didn't play kiddie basketball coming up.

Steve Nash you already got the height advantage, so just be aggressive and rebound like crazy and do NOT try to do things at tryouts that you are not strong at. I'm sure that Shaq wasn't pulling up to shoot 3's when he was trying out. Good luck kid.
Steve Nash I'm litterally the opposite, I'm 14 going into high school and am only 5'5" I'm going to try out but I'm afraid that because of my height I won't be able to compete with the other point guards.
whatcon na man you'll be fine. My teamate is 5'5 and he made varsity as a sophmore, and we were 16th in the nation so were not a bad team. You just gotta use your height to your advantage like be a lock down defender and a good passer .

Learn the rules and what’s a foul and what’s not
Don't shoot just drive. And definitely play D. He accept u if u can drive in and play D if u can't shoot
