I appreciate how the video emphasizes the value of self-reflection and continuous learning. Each quote serves as a thought-provoking prompt to examine our daily actions and cultivate virtues that lead to a more fulfilling life. It's a testament to the enduring relevance of Seneca's teachings in guiding us towards wisdom and inner peace.
Interesting, I thought just the opposite. Here we are in the 21st century and we know many things about nature and the universe, but we have forgotten what it is to truly live and what it means to be truly human. We have not progressed societally beyond the wisdom of the stoics, but we've digressed. All that realization takes is to stand any of our modern politicians up against the life of Marcus Aurelius.
The last is an apt observation. Though he would also be surprised, pleasantly I hope, that thanks to the process of discovery itself, he is still remembered.
"True happiness is to understand our duties towards God and man; to enjoy the present without anxious dependence upon the future; not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears, but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is abundantly sufficient. "
It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. We all have ups and downs. You can only fail if you choose to stay down. A small example: I took 3 years to start uploading videos to my TH-cam channel because I lost confidence due to a setback. If I had started uploading 3 years ago, who knows how successful it would be right now.

Mmm.... I'm not sure that some of these are attributed to Seneca. Throw me to the wolves and I shall return leading the pack? Definitely not Seneca. Still inspiring video tho.
@@MrTrackman100 well, i could say something like "the burden of proof should be on you" but I know that quotes on the internet are often of vague origin anyways and are often attributed to the wrong person... Especially when the quote is of questionable origins, as previously stated. Seneca isn't around to say whether or not it is or isn't his quote and I would Hazard to say that 99% of the people on the internet probably aren't philosophy majors. But I will say this, this quote is also attributed to Susan Collins, you know the Romance / Thriller novelist... So there's that. There's also a good chance that it's origin isn't singular and that it's a conglomeration of many similar sayings developed over many years in a society and then made popular or endemic through its use in pop culture... I know at least one song that uses it... Throne by BMTH. But hey, it'd be cool if Seneca did say it. It's pretty badass. Lol

Many comical memories come to mind. I remember as a little kid the first time my mom took to kindergarten. I was so scared because I thought the teachers were monsters. After three days I grew accustomed and even enjoyed it. I feared thunder was a roaring monster that would eat me . I also feared my nose would grow long if I told a lie😁. Remember when people wouldn't walk on the same road as an AIDS patient because we didn't know anything 😁?? Remember when people built bankers because they thought the world would end in 2000 then 2012. Some psychos like heaven's gate got people to kill themselves and others. Remember when people thought alien ships were abducting people? Remember the panic buying recently, mostly tissue paper 😁?

Beautifully fitting voice and music to truly pivotal information
Why do they always portray ancient in such a deep Morgan freeman-esque voice?
@@stsk7 we probably are wired to trust information of someone with such a voice, such voice likely symbolizes experience and knowledge to us

Hey are all these quotes from a book? If so what is the book called.

Why you use same quotes for different philosophers?!
