As someone who’s been in HR / ER for 14 years, every single professional starting their career should watch this video. You really nailed a lot of behind the scenes points that most will never see or hear in interviews or on glassdoor/blind/etc. Nice job. 👌🏻🎉
Love your videos, they are such help in my HR career!! I recently graduated with my Bachelors in Business and a minor in HR Management and already landed a great job with an awesome company..your tips and info have helped me a lot!!! ❤
I never heard of employee relations until I started an organizing campaign at work. Now I associate them as union busters. I view them as the bad guys as I didn't have a good experience with them.
Hi, New subscriber here! I worked in HR years ago but transitioned into Social Work mainly because HR didn’t offer me the security I needed at the time. The company I was with decided to close my warehouse leaving me with two options, relocate or look for a new job. Now I want to transition back to HR. I’m trying to figure out the best HR role for me. Thanks for the great info.
I graduated from Cornell University with a Degree in Employee Relations and Investigations School of Industrial Labor Relations and looking for a position where I can use my education in my place of work
Timeka! You kept it all the way 100. Thank you. ER seems like a job where it’s expected for the Advisor to KEEP IT REAL. Regardless of who likes it. From what I gathered from this video it take a person with a personality that’s straight forward/blunt/ takes no prisoners etc…..am I interpreting this correctly?
Hi!! I’m thank you for this video, I was just thinking about pursuing employee relations today. This was helpful, why do you think they are normally the first to get cut?
Mainly because an HR Generalist can do the same tasks as an ER professional as well as anything else in HR. An HR Generalist prob won’t be as detailed as an ER professional, but they can do what’s needed. You can transfer ER responsibilities to many other roles in HR.
Question: I’ve been out of the job market for over 17 years and wondering when did the hiring process start including providing offers for positions instead of a simply starting the onboarding position when a candidate is a good fit for the hiring manager.
Oh my, 🤔… it’s been that way since I started corporate 20 years ago. It’s not a requirement in every state (& where is is a requirement it doesn’t have to be in the form of an offer letter, it could be a form called “Terms & Conditions”) so every company doesn’t do it but it’s considered a professional courtesy so that candidates of something tangible to confirm their job offer.

@@HeyyyHR I’m from Florence and I went to SC STATE for undergrad and Liberty for grad. I am from Florence btw… I am familiar with your home town, so I’m surprised you didn’t attend Lincoln. Also, one of my old friends is from that area and she attended Lincoln as well.
@@MrRobinson1911 small world! Lol I went to Lincoln for my freshman & sophomore years then transferred to the city. My daughter went to State! I’ll put the link to the video I did about it. What year did you graduate high school?

The politics in HR is no joke! People don't understand......after 20 years in HR, I'm over it.
What exactly does she mean by the politics being toxic? Does she been biased by favoring one party’s side over the others?
