Bradley GT2 was my first car. I had a factory car in white with the brown leather like yours. It wasn’t running when I bought it; I had work done as I could afford it working multiple jobs as a high school kid in the 80s living in Iowa. It was a cool and fun car to drive in high school.
Lucky you to get such a cool first car I dont think most people had that cool of a car I do mean lucky you in a nice way not a mean way just so you know
I remember that they used to advertise these kits in the back of magazines like Popular Mechanics. There was also some 70s private eye show called Hardcastle and McCormick where the stars had one of these where it was featured prominently. However, after watching this video it seems to me that building one of these probably had a disappointing outcome unless someone was willing to make the chassis and engine mods that would have been required to make it perform and handle better than just a beetle with a lower center of gravity and a few hundred pounds less weight.
I’m 51 I remember being a little kid in the seventies and always thought they were Ferraris are Lamborghini contagious and loved and because of that now they have a special place in my heart laugh out loud
Good luck with your Bradley gt 2 If you're willing to put some money into it you would have an awesome car! I would suggest repainting it a corvette yellow, having the interior restored in black, installing a high performance 2180cc VW bug engine. have fun!
budmangt2 tbh I wouldn’t touch the paint and stripes. It was a selling feature that drew me to this car. Eventually I’d like to do some mechanical fixes and just sell it
@@StreetSceneMotorsportseven if you wanted to keep the paint i think you should re-do the bradley gt logo on doors the font doesnt fit too well, it would be neat if there was a solid white line on the doors with the bradley GT2 cut out in the green body paint it has with like firebird trans am style font
I fondly remember that my neighbor built one of these in the '70's. His was a gorgeous gold color with sparkle flakes in the paint job that had a prismatic effect in the direct sunlight, making rainbows of color amongst the gold. I was just a kid at the time so I did NOT realize that it was only powered by a VW Bug motor. I thought that it was a racecar! 😅
It reminds me of riding in one of those grand prix go cart cars at Disney World at least it doesn't run on a track haha I always wanted one of these when I was a kid! ☺
I love it, I just seen this car in a old horror movie called Mausoleum (1983) that Marjoe Gortner drove in the movie, had to look it up found this, I wonder if a Lotus engine would work in that, I always loved the Elise and that style look in general
I Bought One in 2019 aswell, I Still have yet to get it Running haven't Had the Time, was in Very solid Condition Body & Came with a Parts Car, Sadly Just Sitting outside because I don't have the Time for it . If anyone in California Area Is interested in Buying Respond to this comment & then we can start contact.
the most economical and reliable way to power these up would be a Subaru turbo engine conversion with the matching Subaru 5 speed gear box. Only extra detail is fitting a radiator somewhere up front but an extra benefit would be air conditioning if you want it.
Do you still have the Bradley GT2? Did you end up fixing some of the issues? I just bought one this summer in similar condition. Gotta get the brake lights working. And some other love needed around the car.
one of these was my very first car... if you want to REALLY wake it up do the KIT CAR MAGAZINE reverse rotation corvair swap. i did and OMG. huuuuge difference
He got it for just under $4000. I’ve been looking for a while but damn: can’t find it at all! Here’s the link to the website I found it on :barnfinds.com/lime-green-running-1969-bradley-gt-ii/
hey man, i think your car (and you?) appeared in this guy's video with 4 million views lol th-cam.com/video/1rwMHWM24E8/w-d-xo.html It was a facebook marketplace video thing and he was lowballing you. @@alexdeglas5750 Alex Deglas It's now on eBay second time around already. First time it sold for way more than I expected, but it appears winner didn't follow through. It's a decent twenty footer, I checked it out some months ago, but was more work than I was interested in.
There were 250 GT2s made, 238 sold, there is 13 left road worthy. (I have one as well and did all the research). Yours is not the original color. (Most were a copper metal flake gel coat, the rest were a silver metal flake gel coat). Good luck with your restore. Need to keep as many on the road as we can. The windshield is the weak point. Break it, and trash the car. No replacements made.
Couple hundred GTs yes, I can believe that, but were not talking about the GT, were talking about the GT2 completely diffrent car. According to the production numbers given by Bradley Automotive, there were only 250 GT2 kits ever made (that is the standard GT2 and the GT2-E variants combined) and only 238 kits were ever sold (again combined numbers). From the research done by me and a few other GT2 club members (before the club stopped a few years ago) there are only 13 left in road worthy condition. The weak point was the unsupported rear fiberglass (tended to sag and crack) and the glass (windshield and back glass pannel), that unlike most other kit cars, was a one-off proprietary piece, not something borrowed from a donor car. And Bradley Automotive didn't make any spares, so most folks, upon damaging either of those pieces and not being able to find replacements, scrapped the cars. I would like to get the production number off of this one, to run it against our records.
I couldn’t agree more that they are rare. However when I did my research prior to purchasing this car I found about 20 others in road worthy condition that were GT2’s. There was even one in white a few hours from my house. I would say at the very least there’s close to 100 streetable
If you can get the contact info for the owners, and / or the kit numbers, the GT2 club (whats left of us) would be greatful. We are trying to track these rare cars. We have a library of around 125 vehicles, but only 13 reported to be in road worthy condition.
@@gorillawarrior2495 I have one in mint condition the model number is 1500 still titled and everything is all there and original, even the interior is in great shape
That thing sounds surprisingly good for a VW Beetle engined vehicle.
It's an interesting vehicle I might add.
It sounds great- except for the timing, valve adjustment, carb volume and main air screws out of adjustment. 😆😆

Nice video man, car looks good and is in far better shape than most I have seen for sale.
Ive got a GT 2 on a 1973 chassis. I absolutely love these cars.

Is the car in Hardcastle McCormick was a Manta Mirage, The show itself was a mid to late eighties show.

I've liked these cars since I was a kid. Though I would really love to have a Laser 917.
I knew a guy who had one of these. He had an engine out of a wrecked Porsche 912 in it. Very fast due to it being so light.

I bought an original Bradley in 1979. Wouldn't it be a trip if I ran across it here on TH-cam?
Sounds like a Briggs and Stratton mover but love it👍
Very interesting car 👍🏿
It looks like the wing is on backwards

About 6000 bradly gt2 were made according to the website. I want one so bad. Missed out on one in the Hudson Valley. It had no pappers
6000 kits were made for the bradley gt.....but only 500 kits were made for the bradley gt 2, meaning they are rare
The wing is on backwards
So I inherited a crazy idea I might need help with... a ls swapped bradley gt 2 on a c4 corvette chasis...
Hey man Ik it’s 4yr old video but do u know if you could put a Porsche motor in it ?
I'm looking at one of these cars and in 5"10 and have braud shoulders, do you think I would be able to fit in one?
That's the car you buy when you've given up on life.
So my big question of the day is what did you pay for it$$$
I want one tbh...or at least something similar...
I have 2. 1 is for sale. Pretty rough but body and glass are in good condition. (The rest is easily replaced.)

Spoiler looks to be on backwards.
I don't think a valve adjustment will help
Sounds like a golf cart lmao
It's uh different...
That’s the roughest instrument panel I’ve ever seen in a car!
the wing does not belong on the car
looks like the new Mustangs
Sounds like a lawn mower.
I got one for sale
That poor engine runs like shit even for an old vw engine
